Editors’ Notes: “I think there's a lot of valid, complicated, hard differences in America right now,” says Sarah Stewart Holland, co-host of Pantsuit Politics, a biweekly podcast in which she and longtime friend Beth Silvers tackle the ideological polarization in US politics head-on with nuanced, intelligent discussions. “I think what we try to do is say, 'We see it. We see how hard it is.' Sometimes, it's not a political question or a political solution as far as who you vote for or what party you are in and then the conversation's over, because there's really hard, complicated discussions to be had beyond just your political party.”

Since the show started in 2015, the Kentucky-based Holland and Silvers sought to subvert the traditional left-right punditry of cable news to have what they describe as “grace-filled conversations” which are more community-driven and derive from their own shared values and friendship. Both women grew up in Kentucky, studied law, and are raising families. It’s in those shared experiences that they’re able to stay truthful with each other, but also with their listeners—many of whom appreciate their views regardless of the differences they might have. “We hear a lot of ‘You're like our political therapists, you're our internet moms,’” Silvers says. “That feels right to me, because I think there are a lot of people who listen to our show who rarely agree with my political perspective, but they just like something about being able to sit and hear the news with us and know that we care about their feelings even if they are different than ours. That feels like the most important thing we can do right now.”

Everybody tries to take the risk for the good reason and some get the benefit and some get the only drawback. This is totally depending on luck and master mind and I'm able to check to check out unique task. This article is looking so interesting and you talk about the one side of human life.

I was a legal secretary and I assumed I would go to law school at some point but I'd had to be an Alan Alda and one of my bosses was like that and her life was miserable I thought.

Beth and Sarah, Thank you so much for today's podcast! I live in the Quad Cities (Iowa) and am a proud Democrat. I was precinct captain for Warren at my caucus Monday night. It was so discouraging the rest of the week to listen to all of the podcasts that I typically listen to and hear all of the disgust and disappointment about Iowa. My husband and I are very, very busy people. We both work full time, we have 2 biological children, and we fostered to adopt 6 additional children. I make it a priority for not only myself but my children as well to learn about politics and democracy and how we can make our world a better place. My 13 year old daughter told me on Tuesday that there were so many memes on Facebook making fun of Iowans and she said that she now believes that Iowans votes don't count. Even Bernie Sanders made fun of the fact that "Iowans can't count but New Hampshire people sure can" at a recent rally. As we are going to and from band, play rehearsals, etc, we have been listening to podcasts that state Iowa should not have the 1st caucus any longer because there are no black people in the state. Half of my children are black and they asked me why the rest of the country doesn't think they exist. When I saw the word "Iowa" in the title of today's podcast, I honestly thought, "Oh no, they are going to take back all the good stuff they said about Iowa on Tuesday!" I was so happy when you two started talking about us positively! I picked up 3 of my kiddos and said, "Kids, listen to this! My Pantsuit Politics podcast isn't mad at Iowa!" Thanks so much Sarah and Beth ❤

I'd like to help but you lost this center-right to the Libertarian Party in 2016.

As a mother of 2 girls, I share your rage and angst. I don't know what to tell them other than don't get in situations that put you at risk. as a life long Republican I am ashamed and repulsed with the whole lot. we have to do better for our sons and daughters. Thanks for saying what I don't have words for.

i dont see the contrast...its a hillary democrat and a gw bush repub. theyre the same thing except for regional diffs. they govern on visceral emotion and will bow to popular opinion/media pressure. the repub slightly reactionary, the hill dem adjusts policies with every poll

This podcast is very much in the vein of NPR's "Left, Right, and Center." That is to say that, much like LRC, it claims to offer more than 1 POV yet seems to be able to deliver anything but. These 2 ladies are clearly both from the Left, so am wondering why the deception??? Just own it.
