This week we’re talking about the films The Crow and Saloum. The Crow is a 1994 American film directed by Alex Proyas and shot by Dariusz Wolski. On Devil’s Night, one year after his death, Eric returns to the land of the living. Rising to the occasion, he becomes an undead vigilante exacting revenge on the goons who killed him. Saloum is a 2021 Senegalese film directed by Jean Luc Herbulot and shot by Gregory Corandi. The Hyenas, a trio of mercenaries, find themselves in Saloum when an extraction mission goes wrong. As the barrier to the spirit world crumbles, a seemingly unplanned stop turns into far more than any of them could have expected.

This week we’re talking about the films X and Knife + Heart X is a 2022 American film directed by Ti West and shot by Eliot Rockett. Over the course of one day, she realizes that in order to become “somebody” she’ll have to make grave sacrifices. Knife + Heart is a 2018 French film directed by Yann Gonzalez and shot by Simon Beaufils. Anne, an ambitious and seasoned pornography director in 1979 Paris, has just broken up with her film editor girlfriend when a masked murderer starts killing her actors in obscene ways. In order to penetrate the truth Anne tempts fate by solving the murder through the Art of Pornography.
This week we’re talking about the films Babysitter and The Servant Babysitter is a 2022 Canadian film directed by Monia Chokri and shot by Josée Deshaies. Nadine, a disillusioned new mother, is caught in the exhausting aftermath of her husband physically assaulting a news reporter on live TV. When her husband hires a babysitter, Amy, to lighten the load, Nadine finds new power in her role at home. The Servant is a 1963 British film directed by Joseph Losey and shot by Douglas Slocombe. Tony, a man with little direction and lots of money, hires Barrett, a seasoned manservant, to take care of him and his newly purchased London home. As Barrett provides more value to Tony’s life, it becomes unclear who is serving whom.
This week we’re talking about the films Vengeance and I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore Vengeance is a 2022 American film directed by BJ Novac and shot by Lyn Moncrief. Ben, a jaded single white man who makes a living writing for the New Yorker, finds out that one of his past one-night-stands has died in small town Texas. He decides to solve her death - and solve America - by making a True Crime podcast chronicling his Americana odyssey. I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore is a 2017 American film directed by Macon Blair and shot by Larkin Seiple. Ruth, a woman who’s lost faith in her fellow humans, returns home from work to a burglarized home and law enforcement that has little interest in finding the perp. With the help of her eccentric neighbor, Tony, she sets to work on retrieving her stolen property and ridding the world of delinquents - one asshole at a time.

Cassie, a thirty year old barista living at her parents’ house, spends her nights catching men who prey on drunk women. When her best friend’s assaulter re-enters her life, she seeks revenge and justice for her late friend.
This week we’re talking about the films Where the Crawdads Sing and Fire of Love Where the Crawdads Sing is a 2022 American film, directed by Olivia Newman and shot by Polly Morgan. Kya, a young woman in 1960s North Carolina, lives alone in the marsh after being abandoned by her family. When she is accused of murder, she does what she must to make it back to a safe life in her beloved marsh. Fire of Love is a 2022 American film, directed by Sara Dosa and shot by Pablo Alvarez-Mesa & Maurice Krafft. Katia and Maurice Krafft, married couple and leading volcanologists, are most at home beside a river of lava. Although their up-close observation changes modern perceptions of volcanoes, it also ultimately leads to their untimely demise.
This week we’re talking about the films Watcher and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. Watcher is a 2022 American film, directed by Chloe Okuno and shot by Benjamin Kirk Nielsen. Julia, an American who recently moved to Bucharest, starts to worry that she’s being stalked by a serial killer who lives across the street. Met with disbelief from those around her, she grows increasingly more paranoid and takes matters into her own hands. The Hand that Rocks the Cradle is a 1992 American film, directed by Curtis Hanson and shot by Robert Elswit. Claire, a stay-at-home mom, hires Peyton, a too-good-to-be-true nanny, to help with her newborn second child. Expecting things to get better having an extra set of hands around the house, Claire is pushed to the brink as her life crumbles before her eyes.
This week we’re talking about the films The Fall and Seven Psychopaths. The Fall is a 2006 American film, directed by Tarsem Singh and shot by Colin Watkinson. While both recovering in the hospital in 1920s Los Angeles: Alexandria, a young girl who broke her arm working in the orange grove, forms an unlikely friendship with fellow patient Roy, a stuntman who broke his legs in an on-set accident, as her regales her with an epic tale of five fantastical outcasts. Due to Roy’s nihilistic state and Alexandria’s optimistic imagination, their story takes a turn that leads to real-life consequences. Seven Psychopaths is a 2012 American film, directed by Martin McDonagh and shot by Ben Davis. When Marty, an alcoholic screenwriter, is struggling with a severe case of writer’s block, his overly-imaginative best friend Billy tries to set the stage for inspiration. By playing out a fictitious tale, Billy inadvertently upends Marty’s world, effectively blurring the line between movies and real life.

Porno is a 2019 American film, directed by Keola Racela and shot by J.P. Wakayama. After closing for the night, the five young employees of a small Christian cinema stay to watch a movie together. They decide to screen a mysterious film they find in the basement archive, accidentally freeing a sex demon in the process.

This week we’re talking about the films Happening and Plan B. Happening is a 2021 French film, directed by Audrey Diwan and shot by Laurent Tangy. The film follows Anne, a student in 1960s France, who must put her hopes for university on hold when she learns that she is pregnant. In an era when abortion is illegal and everyone she turns to is more interested in self preservation, she seeks help wherever she can find it. Plan B is a 2021 American film, directed by Natalie Morales and shot by Sandra Valde-Hansen. In the film: Sonny, a bookish high school girl in South Dakota, is convinced by her rebellious best friend, Lupe, to throw a party while her mom is out of town. At the party, she has a disappointing first sexual encounter which launches the two girls on the quest to obtain a Plan B pill before the efficacy window closes. The conversation was recorded weeks prior to the June 24th Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade
