Description

Welcome to Parallel Realities: A podcast series about early psychosis told through the stories of young people, those who have supported someone who has experienced it, and experts in the field. Parallel Realities is an engaging, informative, hopeful but realistic perspective on psychosis for anyone wanting to learn more about this often misunderstood condition.

In ‘Parallel Realities: Psychosis Journey’ you’ll meet Noah, Ilyas, and Natalie who tell their inspiring stories about what it was like to experience, receive treatment for, and recover from psychosis in a three-part podcast. You'll also hear from two family members, Nicolle and Heidi, who have supported a loved one in their psychosis journey. Dr Howard Margolese and Dr Sudhakar Sivapalan will explain things from a medical perspective along the way.

Parallel Realities: Cannabis and Psychosis’ is a two-part series that takes a closer look at the role that substance use has in the development of psychosis, with particular attention to the unique role cannabis plays. Join Aaron and Meera as they recount their stories of developing psychosis within the context of cannabis use. Michelle, a mother, and Xavier, a friend, share their experiences of supporting a loved one through psychosis with co-occurring substance use. Dr Sabina Abidi explains how cannabis impacts young people and its relationship to psychosis, while discussing treatment and recovery.

Parallel Realities was produced by Brian Cooper, Ilyas Khamis and Anthony Fragomeni. Hosted by Brian Cooper with Lived Experience Consultation by Ilyas Khamis and Technical Production by Anthony Fragomeni.
