Come around everybody and don't forget your tinfoil hats... 'They' might be listening. That's right, in this episode we cover the topic of aliens and various sittings, hoaxes, and doomsday events from history.
In this episode, we decided to talk about some people who actually existed, Or are said to have existed at one point. These people are also said to have some supernatural or mystical sort of power. People like Allister Crowley, John Dee, or Abe no Seimei.
This episode is all about dragons. Not really an origin or anything, we just wanted to talk about the specific dragons we like, or we found interesting while doing our research.
Just some random monsters or figures we can't really fit into a single topic, and we wanted to talk about. This is probably the kind of episode where I'll be able to divulge my love for the yokai.
Part 2 to the last episode, not really, we just decided to talk about it more.
In this episode, we talk about and cover some of our favorite witches from pop culture and mythology as a whole. Sometimes they appear as goddesses, and other times they're just women with power. Either way, at least we're not burning them at the stake anymore.
Everyone has an idea of what a demon is or what one aught to be, but what actually were the original mythological origins. We're probably going to revisit this topic sometime, but in this episode we cover the topic of demons and what they were or how they worked. A lot less spooky than we thought it'd be at the time.
Have you ever wondered about the traditions of Halloween and why we celebrate this holiday? If so, then you're in luck. In this episode, we talk about some origins of that favorite costumed holiday.
Have you ever wanted to change the way you looked for one reason or another? Well, maybe you'd want to be a shape-shifter. These beings can will themselves to be anything they need or desire. Usually, shape-shifters are also tricksters, but sometimes they're not exclusively trickers gods. Loki would be an example of being both a shape-shifter and a trickster. However, if we look at Odin, we'll see that he usually uses his shapeshifting in his pursuit of knowledge.
Humans have often wondered about what life is like on the other side you know, your neighbor, your boss, the dead. Well in this episode we don't talk about afterlife but rather when that doesn't happen meaning the dead are lingering in the world of the living.
It's a nice summer night in 2011. You've recently heard talk about an old Pokémon game, they say that when someone listens to the music in a town for too long they go insane... Of course that's not true, that is what is known as an urban legend, specifically one that stems from the internet. Up there with the greats like slender man and the Russian sleep experiment. These things thrived on the internet in the early 10s.
Throughout all folklore, there is usually a figure who would be considered a trickster. Meaning, they use cunning and wit to manipulate things to their advantage. Most people are aware of the Norse god Loki or at least his representation in the MCU, but there are so many more than him. In fact, most of the heroes of ancient Greek mythology were tricksters. Yes, even Heracles.
Pretty much everyone can conjure the image of the ferryman on the river Styx, right? The figure wearing a dark cloak with a hood draped over covering their visage standing on a lone boat calling those who wish to pass on. Well, that's basically the quintessential Psychopomp. The word is Greek in origin and means guide of souls. In this episode, we talk about some of our favorites or that we found interesting that fall into this category.
In this foundational episode, we introduce ourselves and the idea behind the show. The topic for this inaugural episode is Ghost Trains. You may have heard of ghost ships like the Flying Dutchman or the Mary Celeste. Well, this is similar but instead of a boat on the ocean, it's a train on its tracks... or sometimes off the tracks.
