Rachel and Dr. Movies enter the Snyderverse. And then Oscarverse.
Hey, remember that movie that people seem to really respond to? You know, the one about the pedophile?
Rachel and Dr. Movies take a look at two new films written and directed by WOMEN. Dr. Movies echos a little bit in places. We've fixed it for next time. Also we say that Olivia Colman's character is in Italy when she is in fact in Greece.
Rachel and Dr. Movies take a look at THE BIGGEST NETFLIX MOVIE OF ALL TIME. Dr. Movies pronounces Gal Gadot's name wrong the entire episode. Whatever. Just deal with it.
Of course we did the new PTA. It's a good one! (AI made creepy summaries of what we talked about in Spotify! We did not annotate these sections! Wild!)
We're back. So Dr. Movies was being Dr. Theatre for a while and was too busy to pod but check this out we have our first ever GUEST HOST: Film Historian Kenny. So it's great ep but we have to be honest with you, you need to have seen the film beforehand to follow what's going on here. Also this is our first time with 3 mics so the sound is weird and we talk over each other a lot but whatever we aren't professional broadcasters we're your parasocial movie friends and we're taking a look at Steven Spielberg's HOOK. Millennial Classic? or Unmitigated Disaster? We decide.
Rachel and Dr. Movies ship up to Boston to look at a "cult classic" from the past that may also be a window into our future...
Ho ho hoooooo we're just chillin' on this one. Dr. Movies calls Frank Capra John Ford on this one for whatever reason. Obviously embarrassing. Make fun of him.
NO ONE MOURNS THE WICKED!!!! It's a long one folks. A lot of Wicked, a little Emilia Perez and some thoughts on the Movie Musical as a form.
Our annual horror movie DO'S and DON'TS from the season! We get a little loopy on this one. Oh and the Soviet film Rachel is talking about at the end is called The Irony of Fate (1976)
A BONUS POD!? Right under the wire for Halloween? That's correct. We recored this a year ago but Dr. Movies literally forgot about it so here you go now. Horrormaxxing 2024 to follow.
Rachel and Dr. Movies embark on their most important mission yet: spreading the good word about VOX LUX, one of the 21st century's boldest films. Come make a deal with The Devil.
Alright Dr. Movies pronounces Ti West's name wrong the whole time but if he had wanted us to get it right he should have gone by "Ty" West in the DGA or whatever also Rachel doesn't feel he deserves a correction but I think that's a bit harsh cuz I like his movies generally as you will shortly hear. Enjoy!
Rachel and Dr. Movies talk less about Fincher and more about how Gen X apathy became Millennial dejection.
By gawd.... Is that? Is that Rachel and Dr. Movies music? THEY'RE BACK! And they've got a repackage. Introducing Parasocial Movie Friends, a new podcast name to get us over with an SEO audience. And they're talking about PRO WRESTLING MOVIES just in time for Wrestlemania weekend. Come get some.
Dr. Movies and Rachel max out on Horror. Films touched on: The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Exorcist 3, Fright Night (original), Candyman/Candyman Remake, Event Horizon, The Faculty, I (Still) Know What You Did Last Summer, X, Pearl, Ma, Scream 6, The Fall of the House of Usher
Another vibes pod to chill and listen to except we get pretty manic on this one. We drop a couple minor factual inaccuracies, but again, we will NEVER do research for this. Complaints? moviepodeva@gmail.com Twitter: @moviepodeva Letterboxd: movie_pod_eva
