Welcome to Season 5! For 2025, Drea asks our fiber loving crew for updates from when we were gone during our annual break in January. Drea announces she has a "banger" for an episode, and starts a game of This or That. After being confused about the only rule of the game for a moment, Drea starts with easy questions like knit or purl, and progressively gets harder and harder for everyone to answer. Jess keeps their answers to what they don't hate just yet - keyword, yet! Tina goes brioche "all day every day". Drea considers enterlac for a hat project. Meg likes to use feather and fan for the edges of projects over herringbone, and dislikes lacework because a mistake is catastrophic and not easy to fix. There are much more choices made! Drea leads the episode about taking the victory lap to the end - binding off your project when you're about to finish! She particularly likes two bind off styles, the traditional or the "old reliable" and a bind off she doesn't remember the name for, but creates a nice, finished look. Tina says her preferred bind off depends on the type of project she is working on, as each project has a bind off that makes more sense for what needs to be stretchy or taut. Drea talks about socks and the kitchener stitch. Meg prefers Jenny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off, and also loves to do an i-cord bind off as she likes how it looks. If Jess could get away with it, they would use the traditional bind off for everything. Tina leads the episode starting a discussion about the word verbiage inside the fiber arts community. The usage of "illness" words when describing our yarn collections in particular is the focus of the topic. First, they talk about their own personal feelings regarding these types of words, as well as if and when they can be problematic. Jess mentions their love for dragon "hoards", so it doesn't need to have a negative connotation. Tina mentions the type of hashtags she used in the beginning to go viral, and the popular usage of "yarn addict" or "yarn addiction". Drea and Meg think "stash" is something that's not as problematic as words like "addiction". Especially as "addiction" is something that should not be made light of, and the community should be more aware of it.
