Description

Our lives change when we become parents. Of course, we experience the joys and challenges of parenting, but we go through profound changes on a personal level too.

Parenthood is all about exploring these personal challenges we feel as adults. Hosted by relationship coach, businesswoman and mother of two, Leonie Akhidenor, Parenthood focuses on the heart-warming, exhausting, frustrating and exhilarating lives of parents.

You'll hear from a wide range of people as we explore parenting ups and downs. We have episodes with familiar voices you might know, parenting professionals, our 'Real Talk' weekly chats with Leonie's bestie Liv and even solo episodes where Leonie breaks down what is happening in her world right now.

It’s like group therapy. Only juicier.

Do you ever feel like you’re giving 70% everywhere… and 100% nowhere? When I’m at work, I’m thinking about the kids. When I’m with the kids, I’m thinking about work. When I finally sit down at night, I’m thinking about what I didn’t do. It’s this constant, quiet guilt of:“I could have done more.” This week’s solo episode is about the myth of giving everything 100%. Because maybe the goal isn’t perfection. Maybe it’s being intentional in the season you’re in. If you’ve ever felt split in a thousand directions… you’re not alone. InstagramFollow Parenthood on Instagram @parenthoodpod ShareWe’d love it if you could share this episode with a friend! Parenthood Podcast acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. After talking about mental health before birth, we’re now unpacking what can happen after the baby arrives. Postnatal depression.Postnatal anxiety.Rage.Intrusive thoughts.Feeling disconnected.Feeling like you should be happier. In this episode, I sit down with Dr Nicole to talk honestly about: • Why postnatal depression doesn’t always look like sadness• The anxiety no one prepares you for• When baby blues cross into something more• And where to seek support Motherhood can be beautiful…and brutally overwhelming. If you’ve ever thought, “Why am I not coping the way I thought I would?” This conversation is for you 🤍 A big thank you to our episode sponsors Tommee Tippee. Find Tommee Tippee at:Instagram @tommeetippeeaustraliahttps://www.tommeetippee.com/en-au/ Find Cope at:Instagram @cope.org.auhttps://www.cope.org.au/Ready to Cope guide https://www.cope.org.au/ready-to-copeSelf-checks https://www.cope.org.au/depression-anxiety-and-stress-self-checks Find Parenthood at:Follow Parenthood on Instagram @parenthoodpod ShareWe’d love it if you could share this episode with a friend! Parenthood Podcast acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of theland on which we work and live, and recognise their continuing connection toland, water and community. This week I sit down with Tayla Broad to chat all things life after motherhood. We delve into body dysmorphia, how we can teach our children to treasure their bodies and value. This episode is all about the fight my husband and I had over a container, during the highest pressure cooker time of the day – dinner time. But we all know it’s never just about the container. I hope that this episode makes you feel a little less alone in the chaotic randomness that is life with kids. InstagramFollow Parenthood on Instagram @parenthoodpod ShareWe’d love it if you could share this episode with a friend! Parenthood Podcast acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. Before the baby arrives… there’s often a whole invisible chapter no one talks about. In this episode, I sit down with a psychologist to unpack the mental health challenges that can show up before birth — infertility, prenatal anxiety, depression during pregnancy… and the quiet shame that can sit alongside it all. Because you can be deeply grateful…and deeply struggling. We talk about:• The emotional toll of trying to conceive• Anxiety that doesn’t magically disappear once you’re pregnant• Why prenatal depression is more common than we realise• How to get support early (without feeling dramatic) If this season of life felt heavier than it “should have”, this conversation is for you 🤍 You are not failing. At a recent school event, I felt like – was I too much? Too high energy, too loud, too bubbly. Should I have been more reserved? Would I polarise people being too 'Leonie'? In this episode, I delve into my social insecurities and whether what people think of us is really any of our business. InstagramFollow Parenthood on Instagram @parenthoodpod ShareWe’d love it if you could share this episode with a friend! Parenthood Podcast acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. This week’s solo episode is all about how I (try to) discipline my kids. I reflect on whether yelling is worth my energy or time and does it have the impact I was hoping for. Whether reward systems actually work and how I’m using them to instil positive habits. Why mapping out the day and key activities ahead of time has been a game-changer. Whether bribery is a necessary evil, why empty threats are so easy to give and so much more. If you’re keen to get your kids to do what you want them to do – or try to – this  one is for you. InstagramFollow Parenthood on Instagram @parenthoodpod ShareWe’d love it if you could share this episode with a friend! Parenthood Podcast acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of theland on which we work and live, and recognise their continuingconnection toland, water and community. This week’s solo episode is all about my anxiety around meal time. Specifically my kid’s meal time. One kid is a bottomless pit and the other has a beige diet preference. Meaning one eats us out of the house and we’re lucky if we get 2 spoons of rice into our other kid. In this episode I talk about how I’m trying to get my kid to finish a meal and have a well-balanced diet. Whilst not comparing my kids to every other kid who’s eating raw capsicums. If your life also feels a lil stress around the kid food front, this one is for you. InstagramFollow Parenthood on Instagram @parenthoodpod ShareWe’d love it if you could share this episode with a friend! Parenthood Podcast acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of theland on which we work and live, and recognise their continuingconnection toland, water and community.
