Description

Peak Human is a curated audio series taking an unbiased look at health & nutrition. With so much conflicting information available, filmmaker and health coach Brian Sanders sifts through the dogma and provides a framework that unifies all nutrition and dietary habits that lead to optimum health.

World renowned doctors, researchers, and journalists are interviewed to find out what is the true human dietary framework that we should all be eating to live well and free of chronic disease. It is based around principles of nutrient density and uses a combination of ancestral health and modern science.

It is produced ad-free to support the documentary 'Food Lies' (FoodLies.org)

Welcome back everyone! So sorry for the little break in the action. I’m doing a lot of things these days - some might say too many. We got back from filming on the east coast and an amazing event with Dr. Bill Schindler at his food lab. You can catch the presentation by Dr. Cate Shanahan on the Food Lies youtube channel. For new listeners I’m Brian Sanders and this was for my documentary Food Lies and this film tour should be our last. We still don’t have a release date for the film, but we’re in post-production and working on it daily. My guest today is the great Nicolette Hahn Niman who is a California rancher, lawyer, and writer. She has authored two books about sustainable livestock farming: Righteous Porkchop: Finding a Life and Good Food Beyond Factory Farms, and Defending Beef: The Case for Sustainable Meat Production. I read her book years ago, but she’s just releasing a new and improved version that I got a pre-release copy of. It is available July 13th but you can pre-order it on https://www.chelseagreen.com/product/defending-beef/ (find the link in the show notes) She’s a really interesting person who is a great voice sticking up for beef and sustainable ag. She also has an interesting story about her own relationship with beef that we cover at the end! It’s cool to hear her take coming from her background as an environmental lawyer. All of her peers are definitely on the other side of this issue! But guess what, they happen to be wrong! And she’s a beef producer herself, so she knows the full story.  I also happen to be somewhat of a beef producer with my company Nose to Tail. Years after learning of the superior nutrition of red meat and other animal foods I decided to partner with some great ranchers and get quality products out to the united states. You can find us at http://NoseToTail.org Our most popular product which is in very high demand is the primal ground beef with liver, heart, kidney, and spleen mixed in. Such an easy and delicious way to get the extra nutrition from the organ meats in your diet. Hopefully we’re not sold out when you check us out.  We also added a liver stick to our product line which is under the biltong tab. Biltong is a traditional South African way of curing meat without any preservatives or sugar. The stick version of this is called droewors. We just ran a 2nd batch of this with liver mixed in. It’s way better than our first test batch. It tastes really good and has a nice texture. It’s almost impossible for me to come up with a healthier product you can eat on the go. This is another limited run so get it while you can at http://NoseToTail.org Check out the superb body care products made from beef tallow there as well along with our freshly ground seasonings to go with the meat! In other news, the Cows 4 Kids campaign is ending soon. Go to http://Cows4Kids.com to pitch in some money for us all to buy some cows for some of the villages in Africa we visited. Mary talked to the director of the Maasai school and he was ecstatic to hear about the funds we are raising. He is going to make a whole event of it and is contacting some media outlets.  There’s also http://sapien.org for everything else. We have the program for people ready to change their life with diet & lifestyle, the Sapien Tribe, and more information on the Sapien diet. I’ll stop talking about it - just go to Sapien.org to check it all out. You can link to everything there including the Food Lies film website. We’re back with Marty Kendall, my nutrient density brother from another mother! I’ve been following his work since we recorded our first episode 2.5 years ago and he’s always doing something interesting and informative. We cover a very interesting “scandal” in the rodent nutrition study world. I won’t spoil the details but it really is a shame these researchers took out this certain data, because all the other work they’ve done is spot-on. We also hit all my other favorite topics in this one like nutrient density, satiety, insulin, personal fat threshold, the nutrient leverage hypothesis, and a whole lot more. Here we are at the end of the 4 part Africa series with my amazing friend Mary Ruddick. If you haven’t listened to the previous 3, I’d suggest going back and starting at the beginning. I’d really recommend doing this for this entire podcast series. It’s designed as an educational journey through the complex, conflicting world that is nutrition, health, food, the environment, and more. This episode covers the rest of our journey including the Datoga tribe, the Chagga on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and the transition of all the native living populations into the villages and then into the city. It’s a very clear decline in health as they do so. Make sure to watch this video interview on the Food Lies youtube channel to see all the photos and videos from our trip. I went back and added them all in and you’d also get to see Mary’s smiling face as we talk!  There’s a bunch of great presentations and videos on the Food Lies youtube channel as well. You can see the Game CHangers DEBUNKED film, the Food Lies trailer, and a lot of short highlights from interviews that will go into the film. You’ll hear us talk about Cows 4 Kids which is the organization Mary and I started after seeing the lack of animal foods in the diet of many of the tribes we visited, especially with the youngest people who need them the most. You can go to http://cows4kids.com and click through to the Indiegogo campaign there. We already are over 60% of our campaign goal through all the generous contributions to the cause. 100% of the money is going to purchase animals for the school children.  Mary and I had a great Zoom call with one of our big contributors who put almost his whole covid relief check in. He said he didn’t ask for it, didn;t need it, and would rather see it go much further to help the communities in need. Check out what we’re doing at http://cows4kids.com Also support the show and my team by checking out what we’re doing at http://nosetotail.org We have boxes of grass fed and finished beef, buffalo, and lamb that’s shipped out to the 48 US states. We also have the low Omega 6 PUFA pork and chicken. Our other specialty is the ground beef with organs mixed in - it’s extra special because it has the liver, heart, kidney, and spleen. Most people stop at the liver and heart. Our skin food is back in stock. It almost sold out immediately when we got our new batch. It’s that good, I’m telling you. It’s really a great deal as well because a little goes a long way. I still have barely dented my jar. It’s made from regeneratively grown beef tallow and is all hand made. You can add on our freshly ground seasonings and biltong as well. Biltong is a south african traditional beef snack with no sugar, nitrates, or other wacky stuff. It really saved me on the long flights to and from Africa - I don’t think I’d have made it without my Nose to Tail biltong.  So thanks for sharing this show with a friend, giving it a review on your podcast app, and being part of the Sapien community! Hello my friends, it’s time for another episode with the wonderful Mary Ruddick on our journey through Africa. This episode we make it over to Uganda and travel 10 hours to the Bwindi impenetrable forest to visit the Batwa tribe, better known as the Pygmies. This group used to live in the forest and hunt & trap animals and eat all natural foods until 1991 when they were forced off their land by the government. They now have to rely on corn and beans and other crops and are losing their health and their culture. The group we stayed with are mixing in with the other people in the village and are definitely losing their heritage. It was great to visit them while that’s still possible. I don’t know how many more years they’ll be around. You’ll definitely want to listen to this one and hear about the 120 year old great, great, great, grandmother dancing and stomping around with her (youngest) 91 year old daughter. We also got to trek in the forest and hang out with the few remaining mountain gorillas which was another once in a lifetime experience. At the end we talk about how the modern foods and oils are coming into the cities in Uganda and it’s causing some big problems that are going to be devastating if it continues. Mary and I mention our new organization to help groups like the Pygmy, Maasai, and Chagga that we visited get back to their ancestral diets. It’s called Cows4Kids and we do exactly that! Go to http://cows4kids.com and learn more and click through to the Indiegogo page that just launched today. We’re putting in our own money to buy cows, goats, pigs, and chickens for these communities but are opening it up for others to do the same. This is not like a normal non-profit where there’s all kinds of middlemen and administrative stuff. It’s just us and you directly buying animals for the specific communities we visited. Mary is going to simply take whatever funds we raise and buy that many animals for each group.  She knows many other groups personally who are in need and we can expand if people support the project. These people are not getting enough nutrition from animal foods and having a cow and chickens can supply them milk and eggs year round that will vastly change their health trajectory.  What I’m most excited about is seeing the difference between the groups we support and neighboring villages who only have the corn flour, oil, and sugar, for example. This is all the Maasai school we visited had for their meals all day. If the community (and the world) see the differences in the health of the kids that get something as simple as milk in their porridge each day compared to those who didn't, maybe people will wake up, change their thinking, and stop dropping off sacks of grains for aid and get some cows instead! Go to http://cows4kids.com and support the project along with us. You can click through to the Indiegogo campaign there or search for cows 4 kids. Thanks everyone, we’re very excited to get more of the animal foods they wish they had back in their diet. If you want to get some quality animal foods for yourself there’s http://NoseToTail.org where we ship out boxes straight from our ranch in Texas to your door. We’ve added great products like biltong (which is a sugar free and additive free grass fed jerky), skin care from beef tallow which is absolutely amazing, and seasonings. There’s free shipping options as well and that’s at http://NoseToTail.org Also go to http://sapien.org for everything else. You can book something with Dr. Gary, join our Sapien program if you’re ready to make some significant changes in your health and/or want to lose weight, or join the Sapien Tribe to get all the bonus content, private Zoom sessions with myself and Dr. gary, and much more. That’s Sapien.org Now it’s time for the show with Mary Ruddick and the Batwa of Uganda! Make sure to watch the video version on the Food Lies youtube channel for the photos and videos from the trip. Hi there, everyone! This is your host Brian Sanders founder of http://Sapien.org, http://NoseToTail.org, and creator of the upcoming Food Lies film! We’re back with a little break from the episodes with Mary on our trip to Africa for an awesome episode on skin health. This is an important topic to many people and should not be missed by anyone. The skin is the largest organ in the body and needs to be cared for like any other organ. Luckily it’s a lot easier to care for because it’s hanging out on the outside. But this makes it hard to take care of because - you guessed it, it’s on the outside. Luckily, like almost everything I cover here on this podcast, you can heal your skin with a good diet. It’s pretty amazing how important your diet is to every system and part of your body. We also talk about some other techniques like cleansing and washing and skin care products. Spoiler alert, the skin care products are made from beef tallow and I have them available on http://NoseToTail.org You can also make your own beef tallow skin care products if you have the time and interest. I had a great time talking to Rob Stuart and he’s a real pro at helping people clear up issues such as Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis and More. He’s got a big youtube channel where he makes a ton of helpful videos on the topic and also works with people directly.  Before we get to the episode I’ll just mention a few other things we make at http://NoseToTail.org You can make a box of items and get free shipping anywhere in the 48 contiguous states if you hit the minimums. Other than the skin food and soap products we have the biltong - which is soft, air-dried grass fed meat with no curing agents like nitrates or sugar. The droewors is the stick version of this which some people like even better. So far the peri peri flavor is a crowd favorite. We also have the seasonings which are very unique. Other than them not having sugar, fillers, or anything else other than fresh herbs and spices, I have neglected to mention possibly the biggest secret to why they’re so good! They are all freshly ground. This is not the case with any other mass produced seasoning available in stores. I teamed up with some great guys that make this themselves and get the ingredients in their whole form and grind it fresh for each batch we make for Nose To Tail. This makes a huge difference in the taste.  Of course we have our staples - the primal ground beef with liver, heart, kidney, and spleen mixed in as well as the low Omega 6 chicken and pork. We feed these animals a special diet so they have an unparalleled omega 6 to omega 3 ratio. Make a box now at http://NoseToTail.org  For our health program and tribe go to http://Sapien.org This is the best place to go to start your health journey or continue it. The Sapien Program is 10 weeks and will give you everything you need to get going along with a health coach. This is backed by Dr. Gary at Evolve Healthcare in Los Angeles but it can be done anywhere in the world. The tribe is the private community with all the perks, bonus features, and Nose to Tail discounts for members. Find that also at http://Sapien.org Thanks for supporting these things so we don’t have to take outside sponsors. I really take pride in turning down all the offers I get each week. Thanks for sharing with a friend, giving the show a review on itunes or the Apple podcast app, and don’t forget to start back at episode 1! Hello friends, we’re back for another African adventure.  I implore you to watch the youtube version of this interview on the Food Lies youtube channel. I spent a very long time adding in all the photos and videos that we reference throughout this episode. It would be a shame to not see all of the visuals. You can even watch it on 2x speed if you click on the settings icon on the video. I even put in a recording of the song the Hadza sing to us (the full recording closes out the episode). Some of it is a bit graphic, I’ll warn you! We got to spend time with 2 different Hadza  groups which was very key in understanding more about their health and habits. Seeing 8 tribes or communities in total across Tanzania and Uganda was also paramount to our observations. Getting as many data points as we could really helped give us a well-rounded look at these cultures. Even this was just scratching the surface, however. We just got this one window into their lives and it would be ideal to come back at different times of the year and see even more groups. I don’t want to spoil any of the stories, but I’ll say we had some epic adventures going on long hunts with them and eating very nose to tail. Speaking of nose to tail, that’s what my company is called. We have premium meat, snacks, and body care products from sustainable ranches at http://NoseToTail.org My other company is called Sapien where I work with Dr. Gary Shlifer to help people lose weight, reverse disease, and improve metabolic health. You can find more at http://sapien.org This is how this podcast and most of my work is possible. I have these 2 businesses that offer products and services I 100% believe and have developed from scratch or with people who are the best at what they do. I turn down all other advertising and partnership offers. Even though I leave a lot of money on the table, I think this is the best way to be unbiased with my content. By supporting Nose to Tail and Sapien you are getting a great win-win! You get top-quality products, and I can continue to pay for all the content production. We have something for everyone from grass fed and finished meat delivered to your door, to the air dried beef snacks, to the freshly ground seasonings, to the body care products. These are all at http://NoseToTail.org and there’s free shipping options for all products if you put together a box. Plus we have the Sapien Program that I mentioned earlier and the Sapien Tribe if you want to get more involved in the community. You get all the bonus content, Zoom calls, and perks including a perpetual Nose to Tail large discount. Find it all at http://sapien.org You can still support the film on Indiegogo - you can click through from http://sapien.org and you can also support the show at no cost by sharing with family and friends and giving it a review on itunes or the APple podcast app. It all really helps! Welcome back from the break everyone and welcome to season 9 of the Peak Human podcast! I’m Brian Sanders and I’m back from Africa with some stories! What an epic journey! I went there with Mary Ruddick, her boyfriend Drako who helped film, and director/filmographer Jay to spend some time with native living tribes to learn from them and get footage for the Food Lies film. For new listeners Food Lies is a feature-length documentary I’ve been working on for years. I’ve interviewed many of the top doctors, nutrition, and agriculture experts around the world and am now in the final stages of post-production.  You can find the (very outdated) trailer and some great highlight clips on the Food Lies youtube channel. You can also find out about all that we’re doing at http://Sapien.org and link to the film page from there. This is a special episode today with the nutrition genius Mary Ruddick who graciously planned this whole trip. I’d definitely recommend watching the video version of this podcast on the Food Lies youtube so you can see Mary’s radiant, healthy face as well as photos of what we are talking about. This episode is just on the Maasai tribe in Tanzania. We visited 2 main communities and talk about all that we learned from our time with them. We’ll have 3 more episodes coming out soon covering all the tribes and clans we spent time with. You’ll here some super unique first-hand experience with one of the few groups of people in the world still living close to how they’ve lived for thousands of years. These are the people where the men live mostly on meat, blood, and milk. Spoiler alert - Mary and I drank the fresh blood and milk straight from the cow. Super cool experience along with a ton of other stuff we learned on how they are so healthy and live so long.  Just to remind everyone this show takes on no advertisers or outside funding and is made possible by my organizations Nose to Tail and Sapien. We have the sustainable raised grass fed meat, body care products, seasonings, and more at http://NoseToTail.org and we have our physician supervised weight loss and disease reversal programs at http://Sapien.org  If you’re familiar with these great products and services feel free to skip ahead to the start of the show. Today is a special show that I really enjoyed with 2 guests - Dr. Cate Shanahan and Tucker Goodrich. I had Tucker on years ago for episode 20 and he laid out the entire case against seed oils which was very compelling. Dr. Cate has been on twice already (more recently) and is a wealth of knowledge on many, many things, especially the dangers of seed oils and reinforcing the Sapien diet concepts. We cover how people get fat & sick all the way down to the mitochondrial level. We discuss the different players in this process including seed oils (or more specifically excess amounts of omega-6), refined grains, and sugar.  We also do my favorite thing and look at all sides of the arguments. We use an article a seed oil supporter wrote as a tool to check in on the studies and claims cited. You won’t want to miss this one! It’s a long one, but we cover a lot, and there’s a bunch of great new info. This podcast is made possible by my company Nose to Tail where we offer nutrient dense, whole foods delivered to you. We jump in the weeds pretty quick but it gets better as it goes on. This is an interesting one with a scientist who’s studying mice and looking at how different fats affect disease. Kyle was on a mission to find “the perfect diet.” He was raw vegan and moved to raw meat and organs. He thinks a big problem is the high PUFAs in our diet and unnatural iron from fortified grains. He also has some ideas for people who have been on very low carb or carnivore diets and have problems like being cold, waking up in the night, women losing their period, or thyroid problems. Please listen to this one with an open mind! Kyle J. Mamounis, has a doctoral degree in nutritional science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey USA. He is currently a researcher at University of Central Florida in Orlando. His primary research interest is investigating the effects of fatty acids on energy balance regulation. Welcome back everyone! I’m Brian Sanders and this is Peak Human - the podcast where you start back at episode 1! I met Ben at our Toronto MeatUp in 2019 and really like him - maybe it’s because he eats pretty similar to how I do - 2 Sapien meals per day of mostly animal foods and low anti-nutrient plant foods on the side. Seriously though he’s really great and has an awesome mindset on pretty much everything. Goes way beyond building muscle - which is important for absolutely everyone listening. It’s not about being a bodybuilder and we don’t talk much about that - it’s about effectively doing some kind of workout to carry some lean muscle mass which everyone needs and will benefit them as they age.  His info is legit - I already have been getting a better workout since we recorded this episode last week. I took some of his advice and went slower, stayed under control and focused on the muscles I was trying to work and was sore the next for the first time. Gyms are still closed in LA so all I have is my living room yet I was still able to train my muscles hard in my little 15 min routine I do. We actually talk way more about the mental side to diet, health, and living a meaningful life. This really was a great episode that touched on so many important topics that haven't been explored with previous guests. Check out our new product - Droewors (air-dried sausage) with liver and heart https://www.nosetotail.org/product/traditional-droewors-with-liver-heart-air-dried-beef-sausage-with-organs/ We also now have Nose to Tail artwork https://www.nosetotail.org/art/ GET THE FREE SAPIEN FOOD GUIDE! http://Sapien.org   SHOW NOTES [5:10] Focus on what you can control.  [9:40] Get comfortable being uncomfortable. [16:20] His backstory and how he got to where he is now. [24:10] How much do genetics have to do with building muscle? [29:25] 3 genetic traits that help you build muscle. Welcome back to show everyone, I hope everyone is doing well, and I hope everyone is starting back at episode 1 to make sure to catch all the great info. This is supposed to be an audio series on health & nutrition as well as lifestyle and it unfolds live over the past 112 episodes. I don’t have sponsors so I don’t have any other motivations to do this podcast other than to provide valuable information that I believe in. Each guest is purposefully picked and researched and adds another piece to the endless puzzle of human health.    Today I’m talking with my friend Judy Cho who I’ve been following for a long time on Instagram and has done a great job of providing people with easy to understand animal-based health information. She is a nutritional therapy practitioner and the author of Carnivore Cure. Judy holds a Psychology and Communications degree from the University of California, Berkeley.  Judy has a holistic health private practice and works with clients by focusing on the root cause for an array of health challenges. Together, they work to create individualized solutions that are sustainable for the long term.   She lives in Austin and will be part of our growing Sapien community there. We start off with some mask and covid talk, so I want to put out a trigger warning for sensitive viewers who don’t want to hear differing opinions than the ones on mainstream media. For the first time that I’m aware of a guest talks about vaccines. I don’t like to touch the subject but it was nice to hear some thoughts on this from someone who’s balanced and considers both sides.   GET THE MEAT! http://NosetoTail.org GET THE FREE SAPIEN FOOD GUIDE! http://Sapien.org   SHOW NOTES [6:40] Children and Covid. This interview has been a long time coming. I’ve always loved everything Robb has been doing over the years. He’s been doing great work in this space far before I had a clue about health. It was a treat to dive deep with him on a variety of topics including censorship, the importance of the free share of ideas, germ vs. terrain theories, carnivore, protein & lifespan, seafood & human development, seed oils, electrolytes, and a lot more. It’s a very different episode than any of his recent interviews so I definitely wouldn’t miss this one! Everyone listening should already know who he is, but it doesn’t hurt to read over a quick bio: Robb Wolf, a former research biochemist is the 2X New York Times/WSJ Best Selling author of The Paleo Solution and Wired To Eat. Robb has transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people around the world via his top ranked iTunes podcast, books and seminars. He is the co-creator of the Sacred Cow film and book as well. Robb has functioned as a review editor for the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism (Biomed Central) and as a consultant for the Naval Special Warfare Resiliency program. He serves on the board of Directors/Advisors for: Specialty Health Inc, The Chickasaw Nation’s “Unconquered Life” initiative and a number of innovative start ups with a focus on health and sustainability.   GET THE MEAT! http://NosetoTail.org GET THE FREE SAPIEN FOOD GUIDE! http://Sapien.org   SHOW NOTES: [10:20] Censorship by Big Tech. Hello, hello everyone, it’s time for another great guest on the Peak Human podcast. I’m Brian Sanders the founder of Sapien.org, NoseToTail.org, and creator of the Food Lies film that I continue to work on daily while I do these podcasts and post daily on social media. You can check out clips from the Food Lies film interviews and other presentations I’ve done on the Food Lies youtube channel. Today I’m talking to the great Michael Crawford, PhD. He is a storied researcher and has contributed a lot to our knowledge on brain development, human evolution, and marine foods high in DHA. I think the meat crowd needs to rally behind seafood a bit more and recognize its unique nutrients. He’s a sharp guy for an older fella and there’s a lot to learn in this one! Dr. Michael Crawford is a professor and researcher at the Imperial College of London. He is part of the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Metabolism, Digestion, and Reproduction. He is the Director of the Institute of Brain Chemistry and Human Nutrition, Founder Trustee of The Mother and Child Foundation and The Little Foundation. His research focuses on (i) the biological reason why docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) has been so unique in neural signaling for the past 500-600 million years of evolution (ii) application of the knowledge to prevent and treat neurodevelopmental disorder.  To date we have organised 22 international conferences on nutrition, brain development and mental health. He also has an impressive list of publications I’ll link to in the show notes. We're back for round 2 with the one and only Dr. Sean O'Mara! We get into much greater detail than last time on things like visceral fat, physical markers of disease that track better than certain blood markers, the importance of physical appearance, optimal thriving diet for humans, and much more like how to lose visceral fat, how to heal your brain, the importance of sprinting, why we don't revere our elderly as much anymore, immune system, the microbiome, avoiding viruses, and beyond.   This is a really great one and I'd recommend catching it on YouTube (embedded below) so you can see all the great visuals he shares with us.   Here are the photos: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cwvqtgz6g5snopf/AAByOIUZdPnpER4XmgnoG1cYa?dl=0   Dr. Sean O’Mara is a Performance and Longevity MD/Researcher, Speaker , and 2016 NSF Grant Recipient. So far I’ve turned them all down so I can remain independent from any outside interests. I have my own beneficial products and services we offer at Http://Sapien.org and http://nosetotail.org to support the show, the film, myself, and my great team. I make a lot less money this way, but it’s a lot more satisfying to not have to rely on anyone else or promote any other products.   However, it only works if people support Sapien and Nose to Tail. Luckily we have amazing things to offer. Sapien is the health platform I’ve built with my business partner Dr. Gary. We have a practice in Woodland Hills, CA as well as an online program anyone in the world can join if they’re serious about weight loss and disease reversal using diet and lifestyle. You can find out more about the program at http://Sapien.org You can also get the free Sapien Food guide there. Another thing we’ve got going is the Sapien Tribe. We have a growing community of people who are living this lifestyle and dominating life. I know that sounds pretty bro-ey, but it’s what is happening. People have gone from a life of mediocrity or even ill-health to being in top shape, reversing their chronic disease, having great body composition, and not getting sick anymore! Tribe members also get all the extras like the bonus episodes of this podcast, the extended show notes, the private members area, and special access and live Zoom calls with Dr. Gary and me. You can find that at http://sapien.org as well.   You can also get the Nose to Tail meats at http://nosetotail.org where we ship grass finished, ethically and sustainably raised beef, buffalo, pork, and chicken to your door. It’s all raised in Texas and ships out each week to the 48 contiguous states. Our specialty products include ground beef with liver, heart, kidney, and spleen mixed in. I don’t know of anyone else getting all these organs mixed in like we do. I think it’s the best and tastiest way to eat the fresh organs to get the ultimate in nutrient dense, bioavailable nutrition. We also have high omega 3, low omega 6 pork and chicken. We feed them a special gluten free, non-GMO feed that makes their meat and fat very low in PUFAs. I can go on forever about how great this stuff is, but just check it out for yourself at http://nosetotail.org   SHOW NOTES [5:45] Recap on his introduction and how he got into this industry. Hello beautiful people, welcome back. This episode is a special one and I won’t do a whole intro. I’ll just let you know there’s 3 different interviews starting with one of the original grass fed, grass finished ranchers in America who I partnered with to do Nose to Tail. He called in on the phone and the sound quality wasn’t great, but his story and information are spot-on. Really great stuff from a 76 year old rancher who really knows health and is living proof of what happens when you eat meat in a healthy way. He’s really into the Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio and keeping the ratio near 1 to 1 like we would have ancestrally. He’s been onto this about 20 years before anyone else. This is really awesome stuff.  The next interview starts 19 minutes in and is with my South African business partner Gary I make the Nose to Tail biltong with. This is the traditionally made South African beef product that is kind of like jerky but a lot better. It is air-dried for 7 days instead of dehydrated at high heat in a matter of hours like jerky. We also don’t use any sugar or other preservatives or curing agents. We use all the good fat instead of trimming it off like other people do. We’re developing a dried sausage version with liver and heart. It will be the first of its kind in the world! The final interview 39 minutes in is with Tommy who makes the regeneratively grown beef tallow body care products. He makes them all by hand and uses nothing but a few natural ingredients. He’ll talk about the origins of beef tallow as soap throughout human history and why using animal fat on your animal body is so beneficial. Really interesting stuff here with all 3 interviews that you won’t hear elsewhere. Without further ado, let’s jump in. Some of the claims that Ms Cho made here seem unreliable. Especially her belief about the Covid vaccine potentially causing fertility problems, I searched for her sources for that and sound there really Wasn't any other than hearsay. The entire conversation around masks felt like fearmongering. And it failed to include any conversation around the many asian countries that regularly wear masks in their everyday culture, which seems negligent. And other claims of hers just didn't feel properly examined or objective. So anyone listening I'd really encourage you to look into real research for yourself.

This channel is awesome. It's not about carnivore only, or low carb, but about eating whole foods, and eating animal based products as the center of the human diet, as it was for over a million years for humans/whatever we were before. You can eat eggs, sprouted whole wheat bread, cheese, etc, just don't go eat complete garbage, like fried foods, or a bunch of chicken breast all day.

Only first 2 minutes available for download - anyone else experiencing this? I downloaded it from the Peak Human website but couldn't adjust the speed... I love Brian but Jesus he speaks so damned slow! Anything less than 1.2x and it's just unlistenable - amazing content but so depressingly slow it's the auditory equivalent of trying to run in a giant vat filled with treacle..

This has to be one of the best podcast episodes I've ever listened to in the diet/health sphere and I've listened to probably 1000 different episodes from all sorts of backgrounds. Super informative. Thank you both! 👌👌

The closing arguments on carbon footprints of animal food is just not according to the science. How can Paul be science based on the one hand supporting his side and be so plain wrong when it's against his approach?

Very much enjoyed this podcast. Zoe is absolutely bright and speaks beautifully, funny how repeatedly was calling some people 'stupid', loved it.

I can't decide if Pete Evans or Ted Naiman is my hero. If Pete could do 40 press ups or if Ted could cook restaurant quality that would decide it. Seriously, the bunny analogy is excellent, I used it on my family.
