The “apolitical” Fed cut rates by an emergency amount just 6 weeks before a major and contentious election thereby rewarding incumbents. As always, they did this even though it will reward existing asset owners and punish the young who are starting out in life. It’s just who they are, to their bones.

The second Trump assassination attempt is proving to be as revealing and instructive as the first one.  For some reason it’s HARD to protect Trump properly. Would it be foolish to think ‘this time is different?’ Of course! It’s never different. There has to be a balance between claims on the economy and the real economy’s outputs. Today those are historically stretched beyond recovery. It’s time to plant a garden – or start a farm!
