We're back! And maybe someday even on a consistent and regular basis! We're so damn enigmatic but hopefully when we do show up, we do bring our best. Today's podcast, while old, still holds up on the topics that we discussed which are (in no particular order so drumroll please):How hard it is to take Dion Phaneuf seriously with his funny voice. That one hit a little close to homeThe Leafs motto and the RaptorsTalking about Jonathan Bernier and James ReimerCarlyle's brilliant coaching where a win means that the team worked hard and a loss means that the team needs to work harder. That guys in the NHL that are on the bubble obviously work hardThe team's defensive woes in the context of how difficult it is for elite players such as a former Norris Trophy winner to teachThe need to adapt as a coachThe Leafs' peers historically possession and shots against-wise and how frustrating it is that the talent level on this team isn't translating into results on the iceThe downfall of being a smartass when discussing: would you rather the Leafs win or would you rather be rightThe David Clarkson contract debacle and how Clarkson isn't Tucker and musing about how the Leafs can possibly say that Clarkson wasn't brought in to score goalsThe whole Steve Simmons e-mail hilarity which was recentGood media guys. It's true, they existA fun little tidbit about friend of the blog Eric Tulsky and his restraint when dealing with trollsThe Dez Bryant debacle and how he was initially ripped to shreds for being a bad teammate and how the audio revealed the exact opposite. It just highlighted how hard it is to know anything about what happens with the players and how it applies to Phil Kessel on 24/7 as well as how it relates to Kadri's season, his grandfather's illness, and statistical analysis in general.Favourite scenes of 24/7 thus far which came before "David Clarkson: Defender of Water Bottles" and "Good One Randy! Good One!"How much fun it was to hear Sidney Crosby and Dion Phaneuf talking to the refs and other behind the scenes audioThe Leafs' slump and how they survived and how their January might go (not that bad after all!)The Leafs meltdown and the Bruins meltdown and how the former affected the LeafsMusical InterludesAloe Blacc - Loving You Is Killing MeJohn Hiatt - I Don't Even TryDead Kennedys - Kill The PoorBill Morrissey - BarstowTodd Snider - Statistician's BluesJoe Henry - The Man I Keep HidSteely Dan - Hey NineteenDinosaur Jr - Feel The Pain
Things mf37 would be happy to talk about:Carlysle and TOICox as Burke's mouthpiece - trading of kessel, Halak, draft plans (he tweeted about the draft today)We always shit on the media - who do we actually like to read?Ask Forbes what the music is.
In this week's PPP Podcast we tried really hard to be positive. Naturally that involved not talking about the Leafs. Tune in for:Chemmy reads Laffy Taffy jokesThe gang groans audiblyThe team gives up on the podcast and answers questions on twitterMusic:Jimmy Cliff, Wonderful World Beautiful PeopleMagnetic Fields, Crazy for you but not that crazyThe Shins, We Will Become SilhouettesThe Silver Jews, Slow Education
It's PPPPodcast 18 where Chemmy, PPP, and I discuss:Trashing the Leafs playoff hopesBurke, goalies and the futureFlux Capacitors*Luke Schenn's contractYou can listen here (Chemmy will post to iTunes later).Music:Everyday People, Sly and the Family StoneLife is a Lemon and I Want My Money Back , MeatloafIf She Wants Me, Belle & Sebastian*If you had a Delorean, a flux capacitor and enough plutonium to get you November 29, 2008, what single move of Burke's would you fix? What active mistake, signing, trade, draft pick would you do-over? Sadly, there's lots to choose from...
We're trying really hard to do this weekly, so to facilitate that we're shortening the podcast. We're trying to do about 20-25 minutes of interesting fresh content so that you can mainline it. Bet you didn't think you'd see another one of these so soon, eh?Our topics? What difference will Randy Carlyle make? Has Don Cherry finally lost it? Do you believe a word Burke says?
Podcast episode 16 is alive just in time for Ron Wilson to get fired! We talked about canning him in the podcast and at the time (two weeks ago...) I still felt like Wilson didn't have a lot of talent around him. Two weeks and no points later I think I'm ok with him getting the boot.Look at our topics1. Ron Wilson's job2. This cold streak3. Trade targets4. Tim Connolly5. The possible meltdown if the Leafs miss the playoffs.Possible meltdown? Ah to go back in time two weeks.
Kaberle wins a Cup! Tim Connolly, Cody Franson and John-Michael Liles arrive! Vancouver loses! NO MORE LEBDA
This is the sixth installment of the Pension Plan Puppets podcast. PPP is a Toronto Maple Leafs blog dedicated to amusing even non-Leafs fans. In this edition be sure to check out:- The Origins of "Throw the Snake"- A reading of Billo's email live- Brian Burke's end of the year press conference- Playoffs discussionThe episode was cut short when the DET-PHX game 2 got crazy, so enjoy!

2011-03-08--:--:--

Our predictions for Saturday night's Montreal game, talk about prospect Nazem Kadri, make a McDonald's joke and look at the Leafs' strong post Olympic break play.
In this episode of our moderately well received podcast I tried to let PPP and MF37 talk more. They didn't disappoint and offered up plenty of awkward silences. This week we cover: * Being classy and drinking cocktails instead of beer while podcasting. * Bringing in NCAA free agents. * What Keith Acton does to keep his job. * Additional snappy banter free of charge.
