People and Nature Podcast

The People and Nature Podcast explores our relationship to the natural world. Host, Chris McCormack, journeys with us as we learn about the many ways people relate to nature, and discover how to grow our own relationship with the earth.

The Extinction of Experience - Part 1

In his 1993 memoir, the American naturalist Robert Pyle wrote of a "cycle of loss and disaffection" alienating people from nature and furthering the destruction of our ecosystems. His term - "the extinction of experience" - aims to capture the essence of our modern relationship with the natural world. In this episode Chris explores the meaning behind this concept and how we got here. He also talks a lot about what he would like to talk about in future episodes...we're sorry about that.....
