It’s true what the forefather of modern medicine said about disease originating in the gut. Following in Hippocrates’s footsteps, my podcast guest will be sharing how fixing your gut health can and will help fix any other issues you may have. Dr. Loredana Marzullo Shapson, PharmD, FNTP is the founder of LifeMod Solutions, a holistic health practice in Newtown, PA. She is a pharmacist turned holistic with the mission to empower her patients to know they can heal at any age by providing answers, education and tools to live more naturally in our modern world. Dr. Loredana earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) at Temple University in 2012 and is a pharmacist licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. In addition, she is a certified Primal Health Coach (PHC), a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP), a Reiki Level II practitioner, and trained in energy medicine using muscle response testing techniques to analyze neurological reflexes. Whatever you put in your mouth, whether it be a food, a prescription medication, a dietary supplement, a nutraceutical, a herb, you name it, Dr. Loredana has the unique advantage of understanding how it impacts your health. After working in a pharmacy for more than 12 years, Dr. Loredana realized that prescription medications are not the answer to our chronic health problems, rather they act as band-aids, masking symptoms, and ignoring the root cause of illness and dis-ease. Thus, dis-ease continues and progresses, new symptoms arise, and health continues to degrade. Dr. Loredana has dedicated her life to research, continuing education and training, and she has uncovered the leading factors that negatively impact our health. From pain to purpose, she successfully reversed her own health challenges including high blood pressure, weight loss, adrenal fatigue, and recurrent bacterial infections that required multiple rounds of antibiotics.  Dr. Loredana was diagnosed with high blood pressure at 19 years old, and worked through three doctors that chalked it up to hereditary factors, and took 2 prescription medications for over a decade. After uncovering her root causes, which were heavy metal toxicity mercury and aluminum, she learned how to detox her body. Dr. Loredana is passionate about teaching others how to regain control of their health so they can take on life’s challenges full of youth, energy and vitality. In this episode of the Sports Pharmacy Podcast, we explore the remarkable meeting points of two distinct healthcare fields – gender affirming surgery and sports pharmacy. Gender affirming surgery entails a whole host of medical procedures intended to align a person's physically perceivable traits with their gender identity, whereas sports pharmacy is driven by enhancing athletic performance and facilitating optimal recovery using medication. Dr. Dany Hanna, a pioneer in the field of gender affirming surgery, elaborates on the complex process of transitioning, underscoring the necessity of care that extends beyond the operating room to include hormonal treatments and psychological support. Concurrently, sports pharmacy, as a rapidly developing specialty, focuses on ensuring athletes' health and wellness while not compromising the ethical use of medication. Both professionals underscore that patient-centric practices underpin both fields.

Welcome back to the show everyone! This week I’m celebrating my daughter’s second birthday, and on that note I'm also looking to build a better future for our children, and their children! My guest and I will be discussing how we are surrounded by more toxins than ever before. Scientists and doctors know wireless signals can affect the body, similar to other man-made toxins. On top of this, our food is no longer giving us the correct nutrients we need to be resilient to these toxins. There is a need to help people’s bodies become more resilient to our modern lifestyle, and certain nutritional supplements can help! Kylen Ribeiro is the Chief Executive Officer at Lightbody, and is responsible for leading the strategic growth of the company. Her collegiate swimming career, B.S. in Marketing and Management, and MBA from Florida State University is complemented by a yoga instructor certification and background in digital wellness. Kylen has been an integral part of creating an entirely new market of EMF protection from her work with DefenderShield, and is passionate about raising awareness about this growing public health concern, especially with regards to children. Kylen and her team knew they could do more to help protect people from toxins from technology so they set out to complement their external protection products with supplements to help the body become more resilient to EMFs, blue light, and other toxins at the cellular level. Using the latest research and knowledge from their relationships with doctors, physicians, researchers, biologists, scientists, health experts and formulators, they created a new company, Lightbody. In her personal time, Kylen loves to spend time with her two sons and husband, Alan, who owns Caridian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Tampa, FL. I absolutely loved our conversation about conservation, innovation and sustainability this week.
