Pick Your Flick

Liam and Bec reminisce about exercise adventures including Saturday morning "training", weird walks around the lake and canoeing matrix moves. Liam owns up to taking the credit for laser tag!  The 2004 film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind presents plenty of discussion about ethics, relationships and whether it's wise to erase your memory of your ex.  A reminder to listeners regarding Ep 1 of this season - if you want to share your diarrhea rhyme/ song verse, feel free to email it to us at [email protected] so we can read it out in the final episode of this season.  Where to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind: Apple TV

Liam brings another movie quiz for Bec, but this time it's a bit easier and in Bec's specialty area - which film is this song in? A bit of spoon feeding going on, but satisfying nonetheless.  This episode's film is True Lies (1994), a secret-spy comedy-romance film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.  It gave huge 90s nostalgia, with flashbacks to Friday nights on the couch with a pizza and True Lies being played on tv for the 100th time. The one-liners and iconic scenes made it a fun re-watch.

Liam has been naughty! Bec shares a couple stories about Liam's car-related cheeky behaviour.  The hosts review 2024 smash hit body horror, The Substance. This film was wild, with incredible visuals and performances. The dark humour, shocking scenes and social commentary made it a must-watch - even when the watching was challenging!

We are back for Season 2!  The first three episodes were recorded in early 2025 - the rest of the season will be more contemporary!  Contact us - [email protected] What better way to launch Season 2 than with a series of silly, immature, giggling rhymes about diarrhea - penned by the hosts on a train station floor some 17 years ago.  For this week's film, Armageddon (1998), Bec and Liam discuss the cast, the over-the-top disaster tropes, memorable montages and emotional tunes, and some scientific inaccuracies.  Where to watch Armageddon: Disney +, Stan, Apple TV

In this episode of Pick Your Flick, hosts Bec and Liam go head-to-head in a Bec Story battle. Will Liam be able to identify the films Bec describes in her unconventional, sometimes incorrect manner?  The hosts then dive into the unique genre of parody with a review of the 1984 comedy Top Secret. Along with guest speaker Ian, they dissect the quirky humour, clever scenes, and underwhelming storytelling that define this film, and reflect on what makes some parodies funnier than others.  Where to watch Top Secret: Binge, Apple TV
