This is supposed to be a mainstream catholic podcast...sometimes they deal with interesting topics and interview a writer or a theologian but mostly the show is all about criticising anything that doesn't conform to the narrow viewpoint of the host and most of his guests. The usual white, male, right wing, homophobic stuff disguised in religious zeal. All signifiers but no signified. But this episode is a revelation. This particular brand of bigotry presented as piety is taken to a whole new level. Both the guest and the host dismiss university education and academics ( they really show their true, dark age colours...of course, education gets in the way of indoctrination). The host makes it clear that according to his narrow limited world view, women are for marrying and making good wifes. The guest quotes Bin Laden and goes on to say he would rather his son joined the Taliban than live as an atheist. He follows this with several homophobic remarks. The host comments on how happy he is that his daughter doesn't mix with any of "that LGBTQ stuff". All in a jokey, jovial fashion. Love thy neighbour but fuck off my lawn kind of thing. Utterly repulsive on all levels. Talibanesque. Medieval in the worst possible sense of the word. And dangerous. If you want to puke, have a listen. I'm hooked on Raising Kids in Sodom w/ John Henry Spann on Castbox. Check out this episode!
but I suppose one must be grateful for small mercies: Pearce is no longer a neo nazi, just a Brexiteer.
brexit was not a step in the right direction. it was and is a disaster.
Green Tomatoes! 🤣
I believe that sometimes God calls us to grieve for those who need it, who can't grieve for themselves yet. Your grief for her pain and destruction is doing spiritual good.
I just love all these podcasts with Father Pine.
Riveting discussion. Thank you for taking the time to present both sides. Not a huge fan of Dr. Craig's dismissive and condescending style, which seemed to elevate Jimmy's reasoning by way of the appearance of Dr. Craig dodging the point & counterpoint as they were presented by Jimmy. Whereas Jimmy returned with more respect and a more direct approach to each contention. ...and the ref raises Jimmy's arm at the bell.
you're the man, Matt. Tough topic, particularly for someone who lives in Key West where opposing views on this are not tolerated. Btw thanks for the visit year before last. Our Catholic community in KW definitely needs strong voices like yours out there!
I had to take notes throughout this episode.
Not to be crude but the Novus Ordo seems like a castrated form of the mass. I'm new to TLM but now it is so difficult for me to go to an N.O. mass. I just offer up the cringes to Jesus.
This was the moment I learned that I'm older then Matt Fradd.
This interview gets me strait to the heart. Even without having experienced abuse, my abandonment issues have taken a long time to admit and to let Jesus walk me through the healing process. Sr Miriam's story has always touched my heart. Praise God for you both sharing your story of pain and continuing healing.
This is such a great podcast/interview! I enjoyed it and was blessed by it!
what about praying in front of an abortion clinic which is for the end of abortion and for the abortion clinic, but also can be praying with the intention that people driving by see your presense there and are reminded or encouraged about the importance of pro-life
growing the beard again....what? you said it almost in every video your wife hates it 😂
This is disappointing. I lost a lot of respect for this podcast with this episode. It looks at the relationship between Christians and Jews in a one-sided way and neglects to mention so much history of Jewish subversion of Christian peoples and culture. Please have on E. Michael Jones to go further into this conversation.
Just found this Podcast. I have enjoyed it so far however with the concept being how would Saint Thomas answer the question why did you only quote other Saints on the sacraments instead of quoting him? Also the idea is sitting down and having a beer with St. Thomas and yet you have an entrance/exit song that does not fit that setting; just a thought.
Great discussion! Thank you!
I was hoping for an intelligent conversation about theology and philosophy, but instead listened to 20 minutes of a self important, arrogant conversation about what the host and guest thought "smart, good" Christian parents would do to educate their children, if they really know what they are doing. The comments about "black lives matter" exposed a lack of compassion and denial about the persistence of racism; people who are not in denial about the sin of racism understand that denying it perpetuates it, and thus makes one a participant.
