Pirates Insider Jake Ignaszewski is joined by newly hired Assistant Head Coach & Defensive Coordinator Sergio Gilliam as he re-joins the organization after coaching for the Pirates back in 2018. Coach Gilliam comes to the Pirates with extensive experience as a player and coach in multiple arena leagues. He will work closely with Pirates Head Coach Mark Stoute to help get the take back to the championship. Coach Gilliam discusses how he uses his experiences as a player to relate with players as a coach. He then dives into the biggest lessons he's learned throughout his coaching experience and the traits he noticed helped the Albany Empire win the championship when he was a part of their coaching staff. Coach Gilliam then explained his reasoning for coming back to the organization and why he feels a sense of "unfinished business." Pirates Insider Jake Ignaszewski is joined by newly hired Head Coach Mark Stoute as he re-joins the organization for his third season as a part of the coaching staff. Stoute was the team's Offensive Coordinator last year and under his offense, the team was the 4th-best in the league. Stoute brings 27 years of coaching experience to the Pirates and has previously been the head coach for multiple different indoor leagues. In this episode, Stoute reflects on the 2022 season and what he plans to change going into this year compared to last season. The new Pirates head coach shares his coaching philosophy and the traits he believes go into a successful team. Stoute then dives into the best way to build chemistry and how the team's planning to handle if players move up to the XFL or USFL. Lastly, Stoute explains how his coaching style has changed over the years since getting his first coaching gig in 1995 with the Connecticut Coyotes of the AFL. In this episode, Pirates Team Insider Jake Ignaszewski and Pirates Public Address Announcer John Wilbur break down the Pirates historic win in Sioux Falls that led to the team clinching their fourth playoff berth in four seasons.
