Description

On Pod Save The People, host DeRay Mckesson explores social justice, culture, politics – and the various ways they all collide – with cohosts Myles E. Johnson and Sharhonda Bossier.

Each Tuesday, the crew digs into the current events driving the political discourse – bringing cultural context, actionable insights, and a hot take or two – to help empower listeners to engage as thoughtful members of their communities…and their group chats.

Alongside special guests, the show uplifts overlooked news stories that impact people of color and amplifies underrepresented voices who are working to create meaningful change.

Something can’t be broken if it never worked in the first place... police were actively and openly working with the KKK one before the civil rights movement, not charging whites for hurting or killing POC, charging POC without evidence with all white juries, and they were literally in charge of enforcing Jim Crow. Saying something needs to be fixed implies that this is new, and there was a point when it worked that we want to get back to.

Not enough patience to finish listening..the rich are loving this tax outrage. You don’t think trump does his own returns i hope. Of course not. Some accountant is using the system of loopholes to do it. The rich pay less tax than the poor. Always. But you need to forward your outrage to one guy? Goooood luck changing the system without getting it.

Love this show!!! Such good production for a podcast. Heard about it on ear hustle, so I knew I would like it, but it's so much better than I anticipated. Great reporting and interviews and info on the pandemic's impact on disadvantaged peoples in this country, not just poc but prisoners, working poor, people with disabilities, women. Love love love. Thank you for putting it out. So much better than network mainstream news.

So nothing critical about Warren huh except Clint talking about how she was faking the funk about her Indian roots. That's interesting not going to talk about her being a republican until she was 47 that's cool what about her being for Medicare for all until she wasn't and how she struggled with that question or about how when she was doing well in the polls everything was fine and then when Bernie started to do well she wants to say based on a conversation they had a year ago that she all of a sudden remembered he was a sexist even though he urged her to run the last time around that's convenient 🧐 and I'm not saying sexism isn't a thing because of course it is but when you use it too liberally it loses some of its viger saying she's mad counts as masogony for real Joy Ann Reid did a segment on her show about Bernie's body language no bullshit Body language had a expert on and everything does that also count as sexist? ijs 🤔

I value this podcast on so many levels. It has two ingredients I love; it's smart and it's positive. I always come away feeling I've learned a ton, and empowered to be the change I seek. I was struck by the negative comments I just saw complaining and dismissing this podcast because of how regularly the hosts discuss racism and their perspectives and experience of it. So I feel compelled to write the following: I happen to be white, and I notice I gravitate towards white voices--it's my default because it's what I know (and it's the dominant culture). Listening to this podcast opens me up and increases my perspective. I come away having more empathy and understanding of experiences outside of my own. I regularly feel more connected to all of humanity after an episode of Pod Save The People. It feeds my soul and increases my desire to effect change. So grateful 💗

It's basically Pod Save America, but with more black stereotypes. It's also much less focused and more badly expressed to the point that episodes often devolve into an hour of complaining about about white people in general.
