In creating this year's theme, Eric Weisbard and Jack Halberstam recalled the song, "From A Whisper To A Scream," as it has been produced and reproduced by many voices over time. We're drawn to popular music for its voices, but that call takes countless forms—so many ways to get arrested. This gathering honors what words can't easily capture in the effort we put into finding our own critical, writerly, academic, and fannish voices. From a struggle to a celebration.
