Wow. Well hasn't it been a hot minute. Sorry everyone for taking a bit of a break there, it's just that it has been a very busy last little while. Fortunately, we have a chip on our shoulders and we are getting back to do what we do best.... Rambling about movies and drinking coffee.  Declan and Richard finally talk about the 2007 film Once by the illustrious John Carney. We have some interesting points to be made, and we look forward to getting back into the swing of things.  As always, thanks for tuning in! Hello and welcome once again to another awesome and very interesting episode of the podcast! We've hit over 100 plays amongst all the episodes on the channel here and we are so thrilled that people continue to tune in each and every week to listen to what we have to babble on about. We sincerely appreciate it!  Also, thank you all for being patient. It's been a long two weeks, but we managed and we knew we had to get through whatever work was on our plate to get here now and sort this out. So here we are again! Declan and Richard once again embark on another tantalizing episode of movie news and we speak on some very relevant subjects that are going on. We end off by talking about the film of the week, Lebanon (2009), which was a very hard movie to get through, just purely because of the subject matter. But nonetheless, we finished the film and cannot wait for you to hear our thoughts on it. As always, thanks for tuning in! WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE. Ladies and gents this is the 12th episode. We have made it this far and I am so happy we continue to chug along at this brisk pace.  Welcoming to this weeks podcast is none other than our wonderful companions and close friends Austin MacDonald and Rachael Zerafa. We have a wonderful time going over David Lynch's first foray into feature film making with Eraserhead. We also go on to catch up a little bit, find out how to enjoy Christmas with some Amaretto and Coke as well as what's new in the world of movies and filmmaking news.  As always, thanks for tuning in! Well here we are once again. It's a bright shimmering Monday morning, and the stench of burnt coffee wreaks in the air. Two avid film nerds explore the intricacies of a well known period piece known thus as THE PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.  As Declan and Rich embark on their journey to discover what they've been missing out on for the last 15 years, they also contrive one of their longest episodes by elaborating on some of the latest and greatest in film news... Some of which will really prove to be important in the future of film making in North America, and the Hollywood system, more specifically.  Thanks for tuning in and as we mentioned, we will be having two very special guest appearances hopefully next week!  Catch all of our other episodes on various streaming platforms and don't forget to send us any questions, comments, and concerns @popcornpillowtalk or you can email us at popcornptpodcast@gmail.com ~Cheers
EPISODE 10! The podcast strikes back. CONGRATS EVERYONE! We've made it 10 episodes in, and for our milestone, we've added a guest onto the show (from a comfortable distance) and had an awesome time having her indulge us in her movie knowledge and expertise. Ladies and gentlemen - Sam Tong, as one of our most valued listeners, she made a late night appearance for the recording of this episode.  Something we'd love to do as often as we can!  In this episode, Richard, Declan, and Sam all talk about news, catch up, and talk about Ida. We had a wonderful time and really hope she can make it back onto the show sometime soon! Quarantine to the max ladies and gents. Richard and Declan back at it again with the white vans. Sorry for old VINE references. We worked hard to finally get in touch with one another again for this lovely episode where we once again talk about... surprise! MOVIES.  Hello Jon Favreau. We sincerely appreciate you. You have brought us so much lovable and memorable adventures throughout the years and we are excited to go over your humble beginnings. Apologies for the short episode, but due to NDA's Richard has decided to cut out a fair bit of material from this episode. Sorry folks. We'll just have more stories for the future. UNTILLLL THENNNNN  Catch all of our other episodes on various streaming platforms and don't forget to send us any questions, comments, and concerns @popcornpillowtalk or you can email us at popcornptpodcast@gmail.com ~Cheers
Sorry for all the chatter in the background. We recorded live once again, which we hope to more often in the future. As things seem to clear up the world goes slightly more back to normal each day,  we are trying our best to keep you guys informed, as well as record on time and it just happens that the only real spaces we have to record are usually in our homes, which evidently are not sound-proof studios. One can only hope, but it is what it is.  Happy to see one another again in person, Richard went to Declan's and discussed the latest and greatest with streaming services, The BM Ursa 12K camera, and how TENET is causing the world of movie theatres a bunch of headache. The two then went on to talk about the well reviewed documentary SENNA. Next week, we will discuss the directorial debut by Jon Favreau, Made.  Can't wait to talk about it and get in touch as more news unravels each and everyday. Again if you want to skip to the movie talk - please fast forward to 00:30:22 roughly and that should do the trick.  Catch all of our other episodes on various streaming platforms and don't forget to send us any questions, comments, and concerns @popcornpillowtalk or you can email us at popcornptpodcast@gmail.com ~Cheers
Ladies and Gentlemen - it's that time of the week again. Blood Machines stole our hearts with its trailer and convinced us this was going to be the end all be all of cyberpunk synth wave films. Little did we realize there's quite the story behind this and we want YOU to hear what we have to say.  Also - never made mention of this, but SHUDDER streaming service is a lot of fun and I highly recommend for anyone that is looking for a curated streaming service that caters to mostly Horror and Revenge genre films.  We go into the new war plans for the Cineplex Cinematic Universe, Canon's Lineup of weaponized consumer mirrorless cameras, and a slew of new lenses once more. If you want to go straight into the review of the Blood Machines - feel free to skip ahead to 00:32:52. Next week, we will be watching a documentary and exploring the acclaimed film Senna. If you want to follow along, you can find it on Tubi.tv or AmazonPrime.  Catch all of our other episodes on various streaming platforms and don't forget to send us any questions, comments, and concerns @popcornpillowtalk or you can email us at popcornptpodcast@gmail.com ~Cheers
Sorry Rowley, we've taken over the show!  This week Declan and Richard go over some of the recent news involving Atomos, celeb news, Diversity in the Academy and our thoughts on why the Key Grip deserves an Oscar.  Our big film talk this week is for the Netflix Original film: The Polka King, starring none other than the man school of rock god himself, Jack Black. Directed by Maya Forbes, the film came out in 2017 and features an interesting arrangement of funny characters and unfortunate circumstances.  If you want to skip to the talk of the film feel free to jump into the podcast at the 27:00 mark.  Next week, we want to try and go to the far extremes of the strange and obscure for our pick. We bring to you, none other than the original short series by Shudder Blood Machines. The short 60 minute series remains to be one of the most unique things we've ever encountered and the infectious Carpenter Brut score has us drooling to check it out. Feel free to check it out with us, and let us know your thoughts. The trailer can be found here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLHhr8Xc4AM.  Catch all of our other episodes on various streaming platforms and don't forget to send us any questions, comments, and concerns @popcornpillowtalk or you can email us at popcornptpodcast@gmail.com ~Cheers
FINALLY! After the bulk of our pandemic fears have subsided, Richard and Declan actually had a chance to see one another to talk about movies again... IN PERSON.  Evidently this lead to a shorter episode, because social interaction is important and we needed to scour the local mercantile for Kombucha, Craft Beer, and overpriced espresso. But before that adventure could start, we had to get this podcast up and running.  Not much news in this episode, aside from our usual follow-ups to theatres. Some news with Tiff, Drive-Ins, casting calls, and what to expect in the future with our channel.  As we mentioned, we watched In The Mood for Love (2000) by Wong Kar-wai. If you want to skip to that talk - skip ahead to 17:30 in the podcast and enjoy the talk about the movie!  We will be watching The Polka King for next week. It is a Netflix original film, so look for it there if you want to watch along.  Again, we want to hear from you guys! Send us a message on our social pages. Our instagram handle is @popcornpillowtalk or you can email us at popcornptpodcast@gmail.com Until next time~
Declan and Richard embark further into their venture into movies that make them feel things... Once again a film has been chosen that really needs to be spoken about and deserves more attention to anyone around the globe that enjoys watching movies.  We continue to ponder over coffee and interesting news to look forward to. For you camera aficionados, this is a good week for lenses.  We want to continue helping our audience and look to help them out if they want to only listen to part of the podcast. We have timestamped the intro and news segment as well as the exploration of the film A Separation.  Intro+News  00:00:00-00:33:31  A Separation Talk 00:33:31-01:07:33 Again, next week's film is In the Mood for Love (2000). The film is available on Kanopy and Criterion. You can also find hard copies of it online or at a local Library or movie store (if those exist still). Until Next Time!
Who woulda thunk it. Just Mercy feels much like an updated and more factual recount of a story similar to To Kill A Mockingbird.  Declan and Richard go over a few news pieces such as: The 4k Alexa discussion, Tenet's inevitable release and a dive into the film Just Mercy.  Also lots of news has come out since we recorded this episode on June 12. So next week's episode will continue to update the stories that have been changing since.  As an FYI - Tenet has changed its initial release date from July 17 to July 31... Meaning is it actually a spiritual sequel to Inception? More to follow. We will be watching Asghar Farhadi's Oscar Winning film A Separation. More to follow with our discussion next week!  Talk soon!
Welcome to Episode 2. This week Declan and Richard go a little bit in-depth on the film LION (2016) as promised in the week's previous episode.  Before that though, they explore some of the relevant topics happening in film news and bring up huge concerns in the Canadian film marketplace. Sounds like a bit of a doozy, but don't be too alarmed, we can't remember our own name, we drink coffee too loud and munch on granola bars at the most inopportune times. Obviously this isn't our forte' but hey, can't fault us for having some fun with it.  Cheers until next week and hope you enjoy the bird sounds in the background, cause Richard is a doofus and recorded near a window so he could get some Vitamin D while he was recording inside.  See you next week when we talk about JUST MERCY (2019).  **Also for you Canadian Listeners - the film is available on Cineplex's website for free for a limited time! Show your support and check it out.
Hello and Welcome to the first ever episode of the Popcorn Pillowtalk official podcast. Name is gonna be a bit to get used to, but thanks for tuning in to our hosts Richard and Declan as they embark on a chat about film and the multitude of different topics that it covers. We will be exploring news, topical subject matter, our thoughts and opinions, general discussions, and insights into the foray into movies and television.  During our first episode, aside from introductions we make note of some important black American filmmakers and their relevance to what is happening in the media right now, the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Arri Alexa camera system, a brief aside on the Fujifilm XT-4 camera, some films we've watched over the quarantine, along with what to look forward to in the coming episodes.  We hope to continue exploring movie news as it continues to develop and give our thoughts on how the world of cinema is changing around us.  Hope you enjoy!
