EPISODE OVERVIEWDuration: Approximately 55 minutesBest For: Trapped entrepreneurs who carry every decision themselves and wonder why their team never quite steps upKey Outcome: You will see why your people give you a fraction of what they could, and what changes when you lead instead of manageHe started at the very bottom of the most powerful navy in the world. He finished as a commander. The lesson he brought back is the one most business owners never learn.THE BOTTOM LINEYou built this thing. You give it everything. That is exactly why you are exhausted. Bob Fabien Zinga came to America at 17 with one suitcase, a guitar, and enough money for a single year of school. He went from seaman recruit to commander in the US Navy, built businesses alongside a full career, and now spends his time helping other people rise. The thing he keeps coming back to is this. Most people give their work about 25 percent of what they are capable of. Management, done well, can get them to 100. Leadership takes them past it. If you are the only one in your business operating at full effort, you do not have a team problem. You have a leadership gap, and it is the reason every decision still runs through you.WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOUYou already know you are the bottleneck. This episode explains the mechanism behind it. When your people run at a quarter of their capacity, you fill the other three quarters yourself. That is your 55 to 80 hour week.Bob draws a hard line between management and leadership. Management is a science you can learn from a book. Leadership is what gets people to care about something bigger than the task in front of them. Get that right and work stops flowing back to your desk.He watched people in the Navy give everything for the sailor beside them, not because someone managed them well, because they shared a mission. The same force is available to you. Most owners have never once made their vision clear enough for anyone else to carry it.The cost of staying as you are is not just tired days. It is a business that cannot survive a week without you, and a life measured only by the hours you put in.KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAYYour team is not lazy. They are unled. The 25 percent figure Bob quotes is what people give by default. The rest is unlocked by a shared mission, not by you working harder to cover the gap.You cannot delegate what you have never articulated. In the Navy they call it command by negation. Sailors act on the commander's intent because there is nobody there to ask. If your intent lives only in your head, everything has to come back through you.Caring about your people has to be real, never a checkbox. Bob says people smell it a mile off, the same way children do. The fastest route out of the bottleneck is a team that trusts you enough to own their part.AI can carry the repetitive load. It cannot decide, cannot feel, cannot bear responsibility. Get clear on which tasks in your day are genuinely human and which are just noise you have been absorbing.Success does not satisfy. Bob reached the top and found it empty. The shift from success to significance is what makes stepping back feel like a gain rather than a loss. You are not abandoning the business. You are making room for a life.GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING"Once you attain a certain level of success, I think it is really your duty and your responsibility to start helping other people." Bob Fabien Zinga"With leadership you can get to 110, 120 percent. And the way you can do that is because leadership is more than a science, it is an art." Bob Fabien Zinga"Nobody is going to say on their deathbed, I want to go back to the office and make an extra dollar. It is going to be the people you love, the people you impacted." Bob Fabien Zinga"We listen so often as humans. We listen to answer. We need to listen to understand." Roy Castleman"It is really the impact you are having on the life of other people. All that money is going to stay right here." EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 45 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who feel like the business they built to give them freedom has quietly become the thing running them Key Outcome: A simpler way to look at your day, your thoughts and your environment, so you stop carrying weight that was never yours to carry He rebuilt everything from a car, a tent and a borrowed roof. The turnaround did not come from doing more. It came from taking things away. THE BOTTOM LINE You built this thing from nothing, and somewhere along the way it started running you. Bryan Blackmon knows that feeling in a different form. He lost everything, then rebuilt from absolute zero. The thing is, his story is not really about addiction or homelessness. It is about who holds the controls in your life. Bryan and Roy get into why you can only control your own mind, why adding more (the raise, the new car, the extra hours) rarely settles the noise, and why taking things away is where the real change lives. For a business owner working 55 to 80 hours a week, that idea lands hard. You have spent years adding. This is a conversation about what happens when you stop. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You feel guilty resting and guilty working. Bryan and Roy explain why that comes from an internal voice you can actually change, and what happens to your whole day once you do. If everything runs through you, the chaos in your head is part of the problem. This episode shows how clearing that noise creates room to think, so the business stops feeling like a cage. Bryan makes the case for subtraction over addition. For an owner drowning in tasks, that is the first honest step toward stepping back. The cost of ignoring this is another eighteen months of reaching for your phone before your feet hit the floor, and another eighteen months of your business owning you instead of the other way round. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Taking responsibility for your environment gives you power, not blame. The moment Roy accepted he controlled how he walked into a room, the weight shifted. For a trapped owner, that means the bottleneck is not a life sentence, it is a decision. Growth often comes from removing people, places and things, not adding them. You keep adding staff, tools and hours hoping for peace. Bryan found the opposite worked. Less noise, more clarity. Accept the worst case and the weight lifts. When Roy sat with losing everything, the fear that had frozen him loosened. Once you can face the worst, you can ask the smaller question, what can I do to make it a little better today. Look at where you were two months ago, not just where you think you should be. Grab a pen and paper. Momentum is easier to see backwards, and seeing it makes the next step lighter. Protect your first 30 minutes. Bryan does not touch his phone for half an hour after waking. For an owner whose day is hijacked by everyone else's needs, that first half hour is the one bit of the day you can actually own. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "I can only control my mind and my feelings." Bryan Blackmon "When I took responsibility, okay, I am in control of every single thing in my environment. Realising the power that gave me, that power was really something." Roy Castleman "You can look at your past, just don't stare at it." Bryan Blackmon "You can control your sail, you cannot control the storm." Bryan Blackmon "You can't start anything if you don't know what you want." EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 42 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who set a bigger target, start strong, then find themselves quietly drifting back to the level that feels safe Key Outcome: You will understand why growth stalls even when you know exactly what to do, and how small consistent steps beat trying to change everything at once You set the course for a bigger year. Weeks later you are back where you started, and you cannot explain how. THE BOTTOM LINE Jannik Claudi runs a business he built to be himself, not to fit someone else's mould. In this conversation he shares a picture that will stick with you. Imagine your business is a ship and you are the captain. You set a new course for a bigger goal. The thing is, most of your crew is below deck where you cannot see them, and some of them do not want to go where you are pointing. One is quietly planning to row back to the level that felt safe. That is not weakness. That is you, the trapped entrepreneur, running into the part of yourself that was built to keep you comfortable. Jannik works with owners to find what that hidden crew actually wants, then feed it the right way so it starts rowing with you instead of against you. One client sold his business and wanted to do ten things at once. He was doing none. They started with one gym session a week. By week eight or ten he was training four times, reading, walking hours a day, trading, all of it. That is the compounding effect of doing it the natural way, one step at a time. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You keep setting bigger goals and keep sliding back, and you blame discipline. This episode shows you the real reason, and it is not laziness. If everything runs through you, part of the problem lives in your head, not your diary. Understanding that changes how you approach every plan you make from here. Jannik's client went from doing nothing to a full, consistent routine by starting with one action a week. That is the escape from the all-or-nothing trap that keeps you frozen. Keep pushing through change by sheer will and you will keep burning out at the same ceiling. This gives you a gentler way through. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The all-at-once approach is why your new plans collapse. Jannik makes clients do one small step a week on purpose, because a plan with a near-zero failure rate builds the momentum that a giant to-do list destroys. When you set a bigger goal and everything suddenly goes sideways, that is your subconscious rowing back to safe. Name what the safe version of you is protecting and you can work with it instead of fighting it. AI only gives you rubbish when you give it rubbish. Roy talks about doing 172 hours of his old work in a day, not by handing everything over, but by teaching the AI to think critically and working with it together, one small project at a time. You are judging today's attempt on who you were a year ago. You are not that person now. Try the thing that failed before with the skills you have since gained and the output changes. Everything that triggers you, the driver who cuts you off, the client who frustrates you, is a notification pointing inward. That is where the work is, and doing it makes you steadier as the person running everything. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "Even if he's a dickhead, why do you let him change your reality?" - Jannik Claudi "A trigger always leads inside." - Jannik Claudi "If you pour love inside the right way, what comes out is love." - Jannik Claudi "I live for every failure, because every failure is an opportunity for me to learn something." - Roy Castleman "Follow your own inner voice. EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 38 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who wait for permission, a qualification, or the "right time" before acting on what they already know how to do Key Outcome: You will start seeing the skills, stories, and setbacks already inside your business as income and freedom, instead of waiting for something you do not have yet You have been sitting on the thing that sets you free, and you sold it for scrap. THE BOTTOM LINE Bart Merrell has never had a job in the way you would recognise one. He took the first commercial bungee jump to Japan, helped launch thrill rides, got disqualified from the FBI, and when he lost his lower left leg in 2024, he turned even that into a way to help other people. Running through all of it is one habit. Whatever crosses his path, good, bad or ugly, he asks how he can monetise it. That matters to you because you already carry more value than you charge for. You built this thing from nothing, and somewhere along the way you started treating the things you are best at as ordinary. Bart's story of his father, a pig farmer who sold the farm and died still searching for his next big thing while the new owner found a fortune buried in the ground, is a mirror. The freedom you are chasing is often already sitting in your own backyard. You just stopped looking at it. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You keep telling yourself you need a qualification, a certificate, or someone's blessing before you act. That belief is one of the quiet reasons you feel stuck. Bart became a bungee jump master in Japan and imported vehicles he had never imported before, all by saying yes and learning as he went. If you are the bottleneck because everything runs through your head, the fix is not always more delegation. Sometimes it is recognising that what feels effortless to you is exactly what other people would pay for. That reframe is what opens up new income without adding more hours. The things you do because you have to, the hard experiences, the setbacks, often carry the most value. Bart turned his amputation into a business helping others through limb loss. What you have lived through is something AI can never take from you. The cost of ignoring this is quiet and expensive. You keep grinding on the low value work while the real opportunity sits untouched, the way pig poop worth a dollar a pound sat under a farm for years. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Say yes, then figure it out. Roy sent out a CV with his brother's name typed over, walked into interviews for jobs he barely knew, and phoned for help from client bathrooms for two and a half months. He bought that company in 2017. Confidence to learn beats waiting to feel ready. Sell it before you build it. Roy's client David got asked if he could do a Barry Manilow tribute act. He said yes, made a leaflet, and turned it into around £400,000 in bookings across theatres, Vegas, and cruise ships within a year. He committed first, then delivered. Knowledge used to be the bottleneck. It is not anymore. Bart rebuilt his own website for £25 in credits rather than paying £1,500. The gap now is not knowing, it is being willing to do. That said, you have to put the work in. The seven prompts that replace a team are noise. Value what feels ordinary to you. Roy's partner reads astrology for free at parties and calls herself unqualified, while people with less knowledge charge happily online. You are probably doing the same thing with something in your own business right now. Look at the light, not the shadow. So much fear surrounds AI. The better question is which parts of your week drain you, and how you free yourself and your team to do more of the work that feels human. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "You do not need the qualifications, you just need to know a little bit more than the next person in the room." - Roy Castleman "When someone comes to you with a good opportunity and you don't know how to do it, say yes and figure it out." - Bart Merrell, quoting Richard Branson "Knowledge used to be the bottleneck. Now it's not. You just got to be willing to learn it and do it." - Bart Merrell "We're paying way more attention to the shadow that's being cast than the light that's being created." - Bart Merrell "Don't be like my dad and overlook the things that are right there within your reach, right in your own backyard. They might even look like a pile of pig poop." - Bart Merrell QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Why every idea dies if you cannot answer one question, how will you monetise it 03:15 - The bungee jump in Japan: what a little brilliant and a little crazy teaches you about running a business 08:30 - You do not need the qualification: Roy's story of walking into jobs he had never done and learning on the phone 14:00 - Say yes then figure it out: David's Barry Manilow act and £400,000 in a year 19:20 - Knowledge is now £20 a month: rebuilding a website for £25 and why doing beats knowing 25:10 - Monetise Your Mindset: turning what you like, what you need to do, and even an amputation into income 31:40 - Valuing yourself: why you devalue the things you are best at, and how to stop 35:00 - Conclusion: Acres of pig poop and the fortune buried in your own backyard GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Bart Merrell Bio: Bart Merrell has never had a job in the ordinary sense and does not believe you need one either. He teaches people to build financial security by monetising what they already know and do, an approach he calls the Monetised Mindset. From a pig farm in New Mexico to launching thrill rides in Japan, and turning the loss of his lower left leg in 2024 into a business helping others, Bart shows trapped entrepreneurs how to find income and purpose in what is already right in front of them. EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 42 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who keep saying yes when every part of them is screaming no Key Outcome: A clear sense of what your own success actually looks like, and permission to step back before your body forces you to She was running mental wellness events. Advocating for mental health. Then she sat in her bedroom wondering if she should carry on living. THE BOTTOM LINE LaKisha Mosley had a successful business. That was the problem. Her events sold out, she was on stages and tours, the money came in, and one night in November it all stopped working. A twenty minute breakdown that felt like a panic attack mixed with a heart attack. She did not crash because the business failed. She crashed because she was saying yes when she should have said no, never resting, never listening to the quiet voice telling her to sit down. If you have ever felt physically present at your kid's show while your mind was somewhere else entirely, this conversation is a mirror. LaKisha took 60 days off and the business held. Out of that recovery came Soft Simple CEO, a way of running a company that does not tax your sanity. The reflection running through it all is simple and uncomfortable. What if success never required you to abandon yourself in the first place. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You built this thing for freedom and somewhere along the way it became the prison. LaKisha names exactly how that happens, and what it costs when you ignore the warning signs your body keeps sending. Most owners chase a number because everyone else is chasing it. LaKisha hit six figures during the pandemic with no plan to hold it, and that pursuit is what damaged her health the most. Listening to this could stop you repeating the same mistake. The guilt of stepping away keeps you chained to the desk. Roy and LaKisha take that guilt apart. When the corporate CEO took a holiday, nobody fell apart. Your business will not either. If you keep waiting for permission to rest, the cost is your longevity. The statistics on how long leaders live are not kind, and pretending you are the exception is the most expensive bet you can make. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Regulation before strategy. LaKisha does not touch email until 10 or 11am. Devotion, journaling, a morning walk. None of your productivity apps work if the person running them is depleted and in survival mode. Stepping away does not mean the business collapses. LaKisha took 60 days off during recovery and client events still ran. The fear of letting go is rarely matched by what actually happens when you do. Know what fills your cup, then book it. Roy's trick: see something that calls to you, book a flight or put a deposit down before the moment passes. LaKisha now does the same when she feels the depression coming. A staycation, room service, her journal. No guilt. Redefine success on your own terms. Roy had a million pounds and was miserable working 14 hour days, seven days a week. LaKisha decided she does not need to be a millionaire, she needs a life that takes care of her family and leaves a legacy. Decide what enough looks like before the number runs you. Stop self abandoning. LaKisha's one piece of advice. We lose who we are inside the roles we play for everyone else. Getting back to your own inner voice is where your best self shows up, in business and in life. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "Success for you can look like a rest day. It can look like taking three months off and knowing that your business will not fall apart." - LaKisha Mosley "The first big mistake that entrepreneurs make is their freedom ship becomes their prison." - Roy Castleman "My business was very successful.
