We chat with Ernie Jacobs, an astrophotographer from Buffalo, New York, about his journey in Astrophotography. He has been practicing astrophotography for six years, starting with a Dobsonian and cell phone then graduating to a 80mm triplet with a DSLR on an EQ6-R. Over the last three years, he has made significant progress in his imaging and processing skills. Help us keep this podcast going with a small monthly donation. Blog - Asto716 Instagram - Ernie.Jacobs Twitter- @Erniej270 Visit Practical Astrophotography for more information on how to learn astrophotography Help support the podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/practicalastrophotography/support Check out our shop: https://shop.practicalastrophotography.com/shop/ Order a print subscription: https://shop.practicalastrophotography.com/product/practical-astrophotography-one-year-subscription/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/practicalastrophotography/support
We chat with Kurt Kimbrell, an accomplished astrophotographer with over six years of experience. Currently, he works with Woodland Hills Camera and Telescopes, where he contributes to marketing and sales efforts. Kurt's favorite location for astrophotography is Marathon, Texas, a small town that is dedicated to preserving the dark sky. He became acutely aware of light pollution as Crowley and nearby towns began to expand, resulting in fewer visible stars. Kurt's objective is to raise public awareness of the impacts of light pollution on our environment and the night sky. His particular area of expertise is deep sky astrophotography. Help us keep this podcast going with a small monthly donation. Instagram - @gorilla_astro Facebook- gorilla_astro Twitter- Gorilla Astro Visit Practical Astrophotography for more information on how to learn astrophotography Help support the podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/practicalastrophotography/support Check out our shop: https://shop.practicalastrophotography.com/shop/ Order a print subscription: https://shop.practicalastrophotography.com/product/practical-astrophotography-one-year-subscription/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/practicalastrophotography/support

We chat with Drew Evans, an award winning astrophotographer in Flagstaff Arizona, about his journey in this field. For more than 20 years, Drew has been passionate about astrophotography. He left Philadelphia and settled in Flagstaff, AZ to take advantage of the area's incredible dark skies. He constructed a large roll-off roof observatory, which allows him to capture images from anywhere in the world with an internet connection.  Drew's talents have earned him numerous awards and recognitions in national magazines. In fact, last year, NASA selected one of his photos as their Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD)  - https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap220430.html Drew's collection of equipment includes several refractors with focal lengths ranging from 180mm to 1200mm, an 11" SCT, and an SCA260 for imaging. He uses an AM5 and two CEM120's as his mounts. See his observatory here. His Astrobin is DrewJEvans. Help us keep this podcast going with a small monthly donation. Visit Practical Astrophotography for more information on how to learn astrophotography Help support the podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/practicalastrophotography/support Check out our shop: https://shop.practicalastrophotography.com/shop/ Order a print subscription: https://shop.practicalastrophotography.com/product/practical-astrophotography-one-year-subscription/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/practicalastrophotography/support

Ed Guenther from Ephemer ADK joins us as we chat about his journey in Astrophotography. Ed is a budding astrophotographer whom we met at NEAF. We talk about his new interest in astrophotography along with his planning of astrophotography experiences and star parties in the Adirondacks. Ed first learned about the stars while hunting with his dad, an Army Air Corps-trained navigator, and avid outdoorsman. His astrophotography is mostly solar, lunar, and planetary imaging with a cell phone/rack mount on 8" or 16" Newtonian reflectors. He also enjoys wide-field nightscape astrophotography that includes people. Help us keep this podcast going with a small monthly donation.
