Practical Prayer

The most effective prayers in virtually every religion and spiritual practice throughout history follow the same pattern. Rev. Bill Marchiony and Carol L. Lawrence talk about the five-step formula for Practical Prayer, and the shift in perspective that can be required to allow our prayers to create real new experiences in our lives.
Each weekly episode digs into the topic from a fresh angle, providing insight on the ways that our beliefs, our upbringing, our education and our society come together to make our lives the way they are. They also provide the spiritual tools we can use to move beyond those old influences and open ourselves to the life of our dreams.
Rev. Bill Marchiony, DD is an ordained Minister of Religious Science, Spiritual Director of New Thought Philadelphia, and author of “Practical Prayer for Real Results”. He has been studying and teaching these powerful principles since the 1990s. Before that, he was a zany morning radio air personality, which makes this podcast fun to listen to.
Carol L Lawrence is an author, Spiritual Life Consultant, inspirational speaker who has spent 30+ years in church leadership, spirituality and biblical studies, and seminary education. Having pastored churches across denominations and racial diversity has given her a respect for a broad and inclusive theological perspective. She’s also the host of the “Jazz Divine” podcast, a unique worship/meditation experience with Smooth Jazz.
Together, this unlikely duo explores the transformation that is possible when these powerful New Thought teachings are added to a more traditional religious framework.
A Practical Prayer is a prayer that WORKS! These discussions dive into the details of how it works, and how to work it.
Watch more on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWgRoJ36sZeMs9fW1A3mvUQ
Hear more on Insight Timer: https://insig.ht/Ciiz2UYsCib?utm_source=copy_link&utm_medium=live_stream_share
Connect in community at New Thought Philadelphia: https://newthoughtphilly.org
Learn more at be-the-light: https://be-the-light.com
Get the book "Practical Prayer for Real Results" on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1477561676/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_6SRCM91JG9WE4XNFA8S6

Bill, solo in this episode, dives into the topic, citing page 52 of Holmes' "Science of Mind" textbook.Thank you for listening to the Practical Prayer podcast - please invite your friends to listen! There's more information about the podcast, and the classes and resources to bring Practical Prayer, more fully into your life at be-the-light.com. Ensembles

Carol has been listening to concerts lately, and noticed the way the different instruments blend to bring the music alive. She has a concern that the beautiful sounds created by AI could make it obsolete, ending the collegiality and collaboration between musicians. Rev. Bill notes that technology always makes new things possible, but leaves room to preserve the rich value of what's come before.Thank you for listening to the Practical Prayer podcast - please invite your friends to listen! There's more information about the podcast, and the classes and resources to bring Practical Prayer, more fully into your life at be-the-light.com. Heaven and Hell

Carol observes that notions of heaven and hell - what becomes of us after our human lives end - generate a huge amount of concern in traditional churches. Rev. Bill explains the New Thought understanding, and that we actually don't have to wait for death to experience either one. Unity, Oneness and Fate

Carol notes the internal process we go through when we're dealing with a particularly challenging situation - surrounded by darkness, searching for a glimmer of light, feeling hopeless and looking for something (or someone) to blame. Timing

One of the things that used to drive Carol nuts was when someone was working hard to get through a major challenge, and wasn't getting the desired result, a church friend would say "it's God's timing". Rev. Bill points out that this is dismissive of the person's experience, and makes God the scapegoat.Thank you for listening to the Practical Prayer podcast - please invite your friends to listen! There's more information about the podcast, and the classes and resources to bring Practical Prayer, more fully into your life at be-the-light.com.
