098- A Shamanic Experience in the Yukon

In this episode, I share my early May travels through Whitehorse and the Yukon—a journey filled with epic landscapes, mercurial weather, nourishing earth energy, and spacious moments of connection. I talk about wild horses on the Alaska Highway, turquoise rivers, hot springs, slow travel, and the subtle power of land that welcomes you in. Along the way, I reflect on how shamanic practices like journeying to land guardians and traveling without a rigid agenda can deepen your relationship with both place and self. 097- Old Souls, New Era: Bringing Untrained Psychic Gifts into Alignment

In this episode, I explore what it means to live in a time when so many old souls and psychically sensitive people are incarnating at once. Many of us arrive with strong, natural gifts but little training, which can leave us overwhelmed, ungrounded, or even vulnerable. I talk about why aligning your psychic abilities matters, how to avoid leaving the “psychic door” open, and practical ways to bring discernment, boundaries, and volitional control to your sensitivity. Think of it as learning the care and feeding of your energetic body, so you can thrive in this noisy, modern world while still enjoying the magic and connection your gifts bring. 096- How to Reclaim Your Energy from Negative Interactions

Have you ever found yourself replaying a frustrating conversation or worrying in advance about a routine appointment — even when everything eventually goes fine? In this episode, I explore how our brains are wired to latch onto the negative, dramatic, or adversarial moments in life — and how we can reclaim our energy from that pattern. Drawing on personal reflections, real-life conversations, and wisdom from my guides and clients, I look at: Why our minds tend to replay past slights and anticipate future conflict How we can use “essay assignments” for the brain to shift our attention to kindness, competence, and resourcefulness The emotional cost of unnecessary rumination — and how to keep it low What it means to navigate systems like the medical model with both agency and grace The quiet power of noticing emotional generosity in everyday interactions Whether you’re moving through healthcare appointments, airport delays, or just the everyday unpredictability of human behavior, this episode offers insights to help you stay resourced, present, and less energetically taxed by the noise.  Because transformation doesn’t always come from the dramatic moments — sometimes it’s in making the everyday a little easier, smoother, and more soul-aligned. And that’s no small thing. Want to support my work and be supported by my team of guides?  Check out my membership offer: https://www.patreon.com/practicalshamanism Want more audio content from me? 095- When Life Gets Messy: Shamanic Field Notes on Fear, Fatigue, and Finding Center Again

In this episode, I’m sharing some personal field notes from a season when life has been undeniably complex.  From navigating my mom’s cancer diagnosis and treatments to unexpected travel hiccups, tech crises, and the temptation to argue with customer service reps, I’ve been reminded how fear, fatigue, and old patterns can surface — even for those of us deeply rooted in spiritual practice. I talk candidly about leaning on shamanic tools, managing energy as an empath, honoring boundaries, and finding unexpected resilience. I also explore the subtle art of not trying to fix someone else’s experience and the seductive pull of righteous indignation when life feels out of control. If you’re moving through a challenging time — or simply curious about how shamanic practice weaves into real-life chaos — I hope these reflections offer insight, companionship, and encouragement. Thanks for listening, and may you find your center, even when life gets messy. 094- The Energy of Money: Tending Your Personal Economy

In this episode of Practical Shamanism, I explore the concept of the personal economy—the energetic and practical ecosystem of your financial world—and how to work with it intentionally in times of collective uncertainty. Rather than getting swept up in fear or overwhelm about national or global economics, I invite you to turn your attention inward. We’ll talk about: Why our brains aren’t built to grasp large-scale economic systems How past life vows and spiritual conditioning might be influencing your money experience The importance of tending your energy body (especially the lower chakras) to support financial flow What it means to build a resilient, adaptable financial “greenhouse” that can weather outside storms And how you can stop leaking energy into collective anxiety and instead cultivate a grounded, empowered relationship with money This is a soulful, practical, and energetically savvy look at how to create a personal economy that supports your freedom, peace, and ability to live the life that’s truly yours. 093- What If You Didn’t Need the Whole Practice?

Shift Your State in Seconds: Harnessing Your Inner Mastery! In this episode of Practical Shamanism, Katie Weatherup explores how we can harness our accumulated mastery with healing practices—like yoga, meditation, or ritual—to shift our energy and emotional state quickly and effectively. With guidance from spirit allies and insights from years of practice, she invites listeners to experiment with "mini versions" of their go-to techniques to move from stress to regulation in just a few breaths. Katie shares examples from her own life and client work, and she offers important caveats about when the full practice is still needed. This is a powerful conversation for anyone looking to be more efficient and intentional with their healing tools—and to activate the wisdom and energy they already carry within. 092- Wisdom for Procrastination

In this episode, Katie Weatherup explores the deeper emotional and energetic roots of procrastination through a shamanic lens. Rather than offering surface-level hacks, she unpacks why we get stuck, what our resistance is trying to communicate, and how to create more harmony between our productive drive and our need for rest and emotional processing. Topics Covered: Why procrastination is often a power struggle between parts of yourself The hidden role of perfectionism, emotional numbing, and overachievement How energetic sensitivity and neurodivergence can impact productivity The connection between procrastination and emotional avoidance Using procrastination as a signal instead of a personal failing How to restore self-efficacy without resorting to inner bullying Tips for making peace with your to-do list and accessing flow Training yourself in smoother transitions between rest and action Using short-time commitments (like 5-10 minutes) to bypass resistance Creating sustainable structures that honor your energy rhythms Key Takeaways: Procrastination is often a symptom of emotional tension or unmet needs. Your inner overachiever might need limits just as much as encouragement. Reframing procrastination as a call for balance can reduce shame and increase effectiveness. Emotional presence is more powerful than willpower alone. Graceful, nonlinear productivity is often more sustainable than forcing yourself. Try This: If you’re stuck on something, try committing to just five minutes of it. You might surprise yourself by shifting into flow—or learn something valuable about what support or timing you need instead. 091- Crystals as Energetic Allies: Support, Protection, and Magic

In this episode of Practical Shamanism, I share my deep affinity for rocks and crystals, exploring how they can serve as powerful energetic allies. I discuss how crystals can help sensitive individuals manage overwhelming energy, protect against external influences, and maintain energetic integrity. 087- What’s in the Way of Living Your Soul Purpose? Part 1

In this episode of Practical Shamanism, I dive into what might get in the way of fully living your soul purpose. Inspired by Julia Cameron's playful take on artistic blocks and insights from one of my own teachers, I explore some of the reasons we might feel disconnected from our path. This includes: How we often stay loyal to outdated dreams or pre-incarnation plans, and why it's so powerful to pivot when something no longer feels right. The impact of stress, fatigue, and living in "fight or flight" mode on our intuition, making it harder to see possibilities and opportunities. The importance of living by our own "map" rather than following others' expectations or societal norms. How curating a life that supports our energy and creativity allows us to pursue our unique soul purpose more freely. I believe that tuning into what’s true for us right now, and designing a life that resonates with our unique self, helps us overcome the obstacles to living a rich, purpose-driven life. 086- The Stories We Tell: Reclaiming Your Future from Toxic Narratives

In this podcast, I challenge a popular meme that suggests we should be grateful for the present because in 20 years, we'll wish we could return to where we are now. I strongly disagree with this notion. Those who listen to this type of podcast are actively investing in a future where they have greater physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Modern culture bombards us with toxic ideas that chip away at our peace and happiness. Learning to "weed the garden of your mind" is an essential skill, and the belief that everything will worsen with time is one of the most damaging weeds to pull. Join me as I share why this mindset is often untrue and offer reasons to feel hopeful and empowered about your future. 084- Worthiness and Deserving- Potential Energetic Traps

Some of the catch phrases like “I deserve” and “I have trouble knowing my worth” can take people further away from the experience they want to have rather than closer. They can turn us towards inner work that won’t produce the results were hoping and, worst case, can bolster a story that we’re entitled to things we’re truly not. In this podcast, I explore some alternate perspectives that I believe will help have more success in having the things that are important to you. The notion of “win-win” or “no deal” is an important concept in all kinds of human relating. And being able to discern and implement that approach quickly and efficiently saves us a lot of time so that we can move towards people and situations that are available to meet us in a way that authentically works for us. 083- Free Yourself from Past Life Vows

In past lives, we tended to place energetic bindings on the oaths and vows we swore.  These could be vows of marriage, chastity, or poverty.  In each case, there were energetic structures put in place to hold us to the vow.  Often those past life promises are disruptive to our contemporary experiences.  So, it’s wise to clear them and free ourselves.  In this podcast I teach more about how this works as well as ways you can be free of this energy- either with help or as a DIY project. 082- Heal Now, Resolve the Past Later

Sometimes people have the false belief that they need to resolve all the pain and trauma of the past before they can make functional choices in the present.  In this podcast, I talk about some focus points to help yourself make a very quick shift or change when a pattern urgently needs to change.  I hope to give you a better map for pathways to healing that don’t have to have a big time lag to getting to a place in your life that is functional and sustainable.  I invite everyone to be in a lifelong exploration of the relationship to themselves and to thrive in their lives in more and more elegant and fulfilling ways.  And, sometimes, triage is important to focus your efforts. 080- Navigating Feedback and Criticism

If you’re hurt and angered by unsolicited criticism, you come by it honestly through human biology.  It activates our instincts.  In the modern world, we navigate so many intrusive opinions about how we live our lives coming from people who aren’t stakeholders in how we do life. Having a well-thought-out personal policy about who is and isn’t invited to give advice, feedback, reflection, or criticism is useful in being able to navigate these situations effectively.  Then we can fast track soothing our instincts and coming back to center, rather than ruminating on triggered, distorted reflections from unqualified sources.  In our important relationships, it is vital to understand how we impact the other person directly, but we can still have boundaries about what opinions beyond their direct experience are invited. 079- How To Raise Your Vibration

When we raise our vibration (or make our energy brighter), we move through the world more easily.  It improves our direct, in the moment experience as well as helping to manifest things that support us and deflect things that do not.  There are many things we can do to raise our vibration.  Ideally, you want to create a personal list of things that have a high return on investment of results for energy expended.  These things ideally will also be highly accessible on an average Tuesday and be things that you enjoy doing.  I give a number of possible activities and experiences that might support this. In addition, I have some potent energetic techniques to help you if you’d like to work with me.
