Pi A-Wu's Encounter with a Demon

In a rural village in Northern Thailand, Pi A-Wu takes into his home a boy who God will use in the lives of Pi A-Wu's family. This is Prayerful Stories, and today’s story is that of a man living in a rural village in Northern Thailand. He and his family have witnessed spiritual warfare first-hand. This is the story of Pi A-Wu’s encounter with a demon.   Pi A-Wu is a local church elder. He has a wife and two children, a young boy and a newborn baby girl. At the time of this story, only Pi A-Wu and his son were Christians. One day, Pi A-Wu’s wife’s half-brother Ming came to live with them. Ming was a normal kid. Shy and quiet, but he enjoyed singing for people. Everything was normal until Ming went to a Buddhist temple for 3 months—boys in Thailand   often go to live at a temple for a period as part of their Buddhist spiritual journey. However, this was not a high point in Ming’s life. At the temple, he was sexually abused by the monks. By the time he got back home to Pi A-Wu’s house, Ming was a different person. Beginning in mid-2022, Ming began having frequent compulsions where he would start foaming at the mouth. Scariest of all, he began speaking in another man’s voice. Ming was possessed by a demon.  One day Ming charged at Pi A-Wu’s then-pregnant wife, eyeing her belly with a frightening look. Trying to protect his mother, Pi A-Wu’s son got in front of his mother and surprisingly, Ming stopped. When he stopped, Ming said that he could not touch Pi A-Wu’s son because he and his father had something salty in their blood. What this might mean exactly, to this day we still aren’t sure. But what we do know is that out of their entire family, only Pi A-Wu and his son were Christians at that time. It only makes sense that because they were Christians, the demons in Ming could not touch them.  Another time, Pi A-Wu brought Ming to church and asked some missionaries to pray over him. As the missionaries prayed, Ming began swaying back and forth, started gasping for air, and indicated that he wanted to leave. Weirdest of all, he started grasping at a Buddhist necklace that hung around his neck and eventually took it off. When asked why he was doing that, Ming said that as the missionaries prayed, the pendant began to heat up and burn him.  These are just two of many stories about Pi A-Wu’s family. As of the writing of this, Ming has returned to a relatively normal state, though he has not yet accepted Christ. Furthermore, Pi A-Wu’s wife, after witnessing the true power of the living God, came to accept Jesus as her Lord and Saviour. Now Pi A-Wu and his family go on to fight yet another battle. After being scammed online out of 300,000 baht (8800 USD), their family has been forced to split up—Pi A-Wu is moving to the capital of Bangkok to look for work because the bank is suing him for being unable to pay off his debt. In the meantime, the rest of his family is staying with a friend in another town.  Pray for this family as it is clear the enemy wants to bring them down. Pray for the Lord’s provision and protection as they enter this next battlefield. Pray that the bank’s heart will soften and that they will be merciful towards Pi A-Wu’s family. Finally, pray for strength in the hearts and minds of the four members of Pi A-Wu’s family, as they walk this next stage of their lives without each other.
