We get to chat with Naomi Compton, RN, Certified Christian Health Coach and Functional Nutrition Advocate. This episode explores the powerful connection between faith and food. Naomi talks about how she teaches that eating can be an act of worship, aligning with scriptures which call believers to mindfulness and holistic devotion to God. She highlights how gratitude scientifically enhances digestion and draws parallels to biblical principles and showing that what we consume and how we approach it spiritually matters. Naomi discusses how changing our mindset about food restores power to God's original design for nourishment. She challenges listeners to shift from making excuses about their eating habits to owning their decisions, pointing out the biblical significance of food-related temptations. Naomi concludes with her “Prescription for the Heart” from 1 Corinthians 10:31: “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” She stresses that aligning health with faith is not about achieving perfection, but about finding freedom through alignment with God’s design. We are excited to give voice to her faith and knowledge!!Hear more from Naomi on the launch of S.O.A.P.Box Sessions with Nurse Nay, a new segment diving deeper into functional nutrition, faith-health alignment, and candid discussions about today’s healthcare challenges.Connect with Naomi:TikTok: @HeyNurseNayYouTube: @HeyNurseNayInstagram: @HeyNurseNay

Lizette shares her recent diagnosis and recovery from surgery. She was recently diagnosed with left hemifacial spasms (HFS) and underwent a microvascular decompression surgery (MVD) to help correct/alleviate the spasms. Hemifacial spasm is a rare neuromuscular disease characterized by irregular, involuntary muscle contractions on one side of the face. The facial muscles are controlled by the facial nerve. The cause of hemifacial spasm is most often a blood vessel touching or pulsing against a facial nerve. A facial nerve injury or a tumor also can cause it. She shares her story to shed light on the minor symptoms or ailments that often go unnoticed. We encourage everyone to make sure they are connected to a caring, thorough provider who is going to listen to your concerns. Remember - we can all do hard things.
In life's journey, our most profound struggles often pave the way for our greatest victories. What seems like insurmountable pain or hardship can transform into a powerful testimony of resilience and faith. Each challenge or loss we endure is an opportunity for growth, and through God's grace, our stories can and will inspire others facing similar trials.
On this episode, Erica walks us through her journey of love and grief for her late husband, Jason. Her description of Jason's brave battle with Glioblastoma and their inspiring love story is a beautiful testament that love is real and can endure all things.

Erica and Lizette talk about the art of practicing gratitude in everyday life and the amazing health benefits that come with being gracious, grateful and happily fulfilled. They emphasize two key components with the art of gratitude by 1) affirming the good things we have received and 2) acknowledging the role other people play in providing our lives with goodness. Amazing health benefits you may get from practicing gratitude include (but not limited to): strengthening your immune system, improve sleep patterns, increase optimism, joy, pleasure and decrease depression, being more helpful and generous and decreasing isolation and loneliness.
Erica writes about gratitude for wellbeing in her latest blogpost (https://www.ericajaneyoga.com/post/gratitude-for-wellbeing). She begins by writing on practicing the state of gratitude with positive thinking and watching your language - specifically with how you speak to yourself. Be gentle to YOUrself! Erica provides the audience with some helpful ways to initiate the practice of gratitude. By easily noticing and appreciating your surroundings to journaling things that make you reflect on the positive but also the negative in your life - you are able to learn and be grateful for everyday experiences in life. Using your 5 senses is also key in recognizing gratitude for your existence, your life, your being. The miracle of your body and the beauty behind the restorative energy the art of gratitude will provide.
Take a listen and begin your practice...the practice of gratitude. You won't be disappointed :)

Erica and Lizette are excited to speak with Dr. Elizabeth Hughes this week. As a board certified dermatologist, Dr. Hughes provides insight on how to properly care for your skin whether it's with a quick 2-minute daily routine or with a chemical peel. She explains that not everything is for everyBODY & we couldn't agree more. Skin care is really individualized and can be more about what you put into your body than what you put on it.
Dr. Hughes also helps us identify when it's clinically appropriate to consult a dermatologist and why advanced aesthetics should be centered around setting realistic expectations with the right healthcare provider - someone that you know and trust.
A great interview with one of the smartest women we know and at one of the coolest office spaces we've ever been to. Located at 6712 N New Braunfels Ave, San Antonio, Texas - Hughes Clinic and staff (plus her doctor dog, Roscoe), help provide an excellent and personalized experience. With over 16 years of experience in medical, surgical, pediatric and adult dermatological care, Dr. Hughes also offers laser treatments, medical grade chemical peels & advanced aesthetics. The girls hope to educate you on the best skin care techniques and how to find what is best for you and your skin.

This week Lizette and Erica talk about their experiences and relationships with work besties. Should you have one or need one to make your work day a little less blah? We think so but like everything else healthy boundaries are important for that work - life balance. Increased motivation, happiness and accountability are a few benefits to having yourself a 'work bestie'. You or your employees are more likely to stay in a position/company if you have a positive experience at work and enjoy the people you work with day in and day out. A co-worker that you can trust may share important goals, interests and values that make collaboration and team work more effective. So what do you do if you don't have that 'work bestie'? Lizette and Erica give some advice on ways to connect with a potential work bestie.
This week Erica and Lizette talk about initial encounters (of the 3rd kind) with your PCP (NP/PA/MD). What to ask and how to set boundaries, for both patients and providers alike. So many things to consider when deciding on the right health care provider for you and your family. If you haven’t already found your perfect match (in health care), take a listen and find out how. As a mom struggling to recover from extreme auto-immune dysfunction and lyme disease, Priscilla had a list of debilitating symptoms due to extreme inflammation. She decided a change of diet was needed to get on a path to better health.

Priscilla’s search for a grain-free pancake mix that didn’t include added sugars, or have added gums, preservatives or fillers, proved to be quite difficult. After trying out several unsatisfactory store-bought options, she took on the challenge to create her own. Her repeated experiments in the kitchen led to a pancake recipe all could enjoy, and now she is sharing it, along with a new products, with you!
Priscilla Gomez is born and raised in San Antonio and currently manufactures all of her Pure Heart Products in the Westside of downtown San Antonio.
