Next month marks three years since I moved to Spain, and lately I've been sitting with something I call the bridge in identity, that uncomfortable place where you've already let go of who you used to be, but your life hasn't caught up yet with who you're becoming. In this episode I talk about boxing myself into being just the tattoo artist, the burnout that came from it, and what it's actually taking for me to show up as one whole person instead of a different version depending on who's watching. If you're in your own bridge right now, I hope this helps. If you're in a season of searching, transformation, or reconnection — this podcast is for you.And if this episode moved you, I'd love to hear it.Follow the show, and come find me on Instagram @lisroldantattoo.For reflections like this straight to your inbox, join Ink & Intention, my newsletter.New episodes every Wednesday. I used to think undercharging was a pricing problem. It wasn't.In this episode I get real about my own relationship with money, why I spent years unconsciously sabotaging myself every time life got hard, and where that pattern actually started. A few years ago I went to therapy for some health issues, and it went a lot deeper than that. My therapist helped me see I'd had a really bad relationship with money since I was six years old, the year my mom left to find work in another country because we didn't have enough. For years I unconsciously related money with abandonment. If we'd had enough, maybe she never would have had to leave. So money became the reason for everything painful in my life, and that belief just sat there, hidden, running everything, until I finally wrote it a letter. We talk about money as energy, why artists (myself included) undercharge out of fear, the reticular activating system and why you keep noticing what you focus on, and why money isn't the enemy, it just amplifies whoever you already are.If you've ever felt stuck in the same money patterns no matter what you do, this one's for you.If you're in a season of searching, transformation, or reconnection — this podcast is for you.And if this episode moved you, I'd love to hear it.Follow the show, and come find me on Instagram @lisroldantattoo.For reflections like this straight to your inbox, join Ink & Intention, my newsletter.New episodes every Wednesday. One of the questions I hear most as a tattoo artist is "what if I'm not the same person in 10 years, will I still like it?" And after years of deep conversations with clients, I've come to see that this fear is almost never really about the tattoo.I share the story of my first tattoo, a colorful little cupcake that says "Life is sweet," and the dark, scarce moment in my life it actually came from. I talk about the difference between decisions made from fear and decisions made from love and presence, and why one leaves regret behind while the other never does. This episode is about permanence, about change, and about learning to trust that we're allowed to keep becoming. Two years ago I said yes to the offer I had dreamed about for years: a studio in New York, an artist I had admired since I started tattooing, more money than I had ever charged. Six months into the process, something in me went quiet. In this episode I share what that stillness was trying to tell me, the pattern of sacrifice I inherited without ever questioning it, and why turning down the biggest opportunity of my career ended up being the biggest yes I had ever given myself. A few years ago I designed a tattoo for my boyfriend after our first trip together to the Amazon jungle, where he grew up. It became one of the pieces that changed my career. Two years ago, someone sent me a video of an artist in Iran who had copied that exact design. And for the first time, I didn't feel robbed. I felt proud. In this episode I talk about what it really means when someone copies your work, why creating from scarcity keeps us stuck, and why gratitude might be the thing we skip most on our way to the next goal. I also share a bit about growing up in a small town in Colombia, and what it took to build a career I never imagined possible. This is episode 3 in English.
