Prompt Queens

The prompt today is "THe NFL" because you know us. We love sportsball.  And this is our way to write the thing. The prompt's not the thing, the song's the thing. And we wrote two songs this week.  What. Will. The. Dunbars. Do? Gotta listen to find out....  

This prompt came from the previous episode when Emily said something about "good time Charlies" so there ya.  And here we are. It's fall, it's already the back half of September and wow, the songs keep coming.  Give this one listen, keep up the writing, thanks for listening, we love you all.  There's some crackling audio to this one and I have no idea why, THAD!!!

Because we recorded this episode on the last day of August, we are feeling the pull for a change in the weather AND a change in the prompt.  So this episode is brought to you by, AUTUMN/FALL. Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys OR podcasters who just barely know what they're doing.  This is the repost of the previous episode that was experiencing technical difficulties.  Willie Nelson is a dang American Treasure with a catalog of hits never to be forgotten. And then us two PLay Arounds thought we'd try our hand at being the road doggin' outlaw like he is in this one. 

Like the beach. Muscle Beach, but on a podcast, but not sweaty, but not in California, and not actual muscles.  The prompt? Muscle. Cuz why?  Cuz. Why. Not.  Give a listen, feel inspired knowing if these two yahoos can crank out some songs, anybody can. 

Plath, Lorca, Whitman, OH MY! And now..the Dunbar sisters. Yes, indeed, 'tis POEM week and this is the poem prompt for the poem episode.  We're back from summer break and diving into the deep end with this week's Prompt: Poem.  Who didn't love the poetry portion of your beloved Literature classes? Who among us doesn't long for those days of iambic pentameter, sonnets and haikus?  Well, we didn't do any of that for this episode, but we DID write some songs. You can take up the poetic torch and get more into the genre as you so choose. Write on, dear listeners!

LUCKY EPISODE NUMBER 20 for Season three. I think they mean, it folks.  You know we mean it when we ask Ed Sheeran to be our prompt and he totally said yes (Ok we didn't ask him, but still he would've totally said yes).  Listen in as Hope and Emily take on a Pop songwriting master and try to walk 3:30 minutes in his shoes. THat's what we always say over here at Prompt Queens, but also we didn't actually say that at all during this episode, but it was implied because the prompt is WINDOW, y'all. Marching Band, Memorial Day, Grilling, Frisbee, rain, life, Monday, cornhole, possibly burning the house down,  federal holidays and the prompt was IMPRESSIONISM. This is our first recording back since before our California trip.  We love you, thanks for listening, write a song from the prompt Impressionism and we will see you next week.   

The prompt is PUNK. We did not discuss the ins and outs and even what that prompt meant, we just showed up with the songs we wrote just like every other week. This is us and this is punk and it doesn't get more punk than us (JKJKJKJK, yeah it does we are squares, as the kids say). 

The girls tackle a structural prompt this week with the very elusive, "One line chorus." But what does that even mean??? You're gonna have to tune in to find out! Thank you for listening and for being so awesome. You're like a snappy One LIne Chorus of a person (and that's good thing). High five! 

If Jeff and the boys over at Wilco pull a hammy (or multiple hammies) preventing them from being the stellar alt country band we all know and love, don't worry, we'll just write the songs for them while they heal. Yes indeed, my friends, Hope and Emily try their best Jeff Tweedy impressions on from top to bottom and wrote these songs. Enjoy. 

OH Ok. Now it's Glitter. Last week I bumbled and jumbled and got a little confused, but I've had a good night's sleep and now, friends and dreamers, this week it's GLITTER. Take a stardustified ride with Hope and Emily and see what they do with this week's prompt, THEN, write your own song to Glitter. It's be all sparkle all the time.
