Models that utilise learning tend to be small and typically fail to scale up to general real world applications. This talk presents a theoretical approach to understanding both human cognition and the problems a general learning robot must face. This is used to present a single model, with the iCub robot, applied to the multiple developmental stages of language acquisition.
