Spearheaded by 27-year-old Kim Gi-hwan—a man consumed by venomous hatred for the rich—the group was less a gang and more a death cult fueled by vengeance and sadism. Kim handpicked six like-minded men, each one simmering with rage and ready to spill blood in the name of class warfare. What followed wasn’t just violence—it was depravity in its purest form: abductions, captivity, torture, murder, and cannibalism, all inflicted upon innocent victims chosen solely for their perceived wealth. It was cruelty wrapped in ideology, and humanity didn’t stand a chance. The sheer scale of his brutality places him amongst the most prolific serial killers in history, but it’s not just the body count that makes him infamous. It’s the chilling coldness with which he hunted his victims, relentlessly stalking alleys, villages, ad marketplaces, taking lives like a predator out for sport. His motives? A twisted, grotesque revenge born from a childhood drenched in abuse and neglect that not only broke him, but transformed him into something far darker. And what's even more terrifying is that he may still be out there, walking among us... Her 20-year-old daughter, Karen, was kidnapped by members of Los Zetas—one of Mexico’s most brutal and violent drug cartels. Despite paying a ransom, Miriam never saw her daughter alive again. Karen’s remains were discovered nearly two years later, buried in a shallow grave. But Miriam didn’t just grieve—she transformed. Fueled by anguish and an unshakable sense of justice, she launched her own investigation, meticulously tracking down her daughter’s killers one by one. Disguising herself, using fake identities, and gathering intelligence like a seasoned detective, she helped locate and bring nearly a dozen cartel members to justice—essentially building cases where law enforcement had failed or refused to act.  Miriam's astounding story remains a searing indictment of government inaction, cartel terror, and the price of speaking truth to power in a country where justice is often buried alongside the victims. Unbeknownst to them, their coworker, 24-year-old YouTuber Randy Stair, coldly barricaded the store’s exits as he prepared for a brutal massacre with chilling determination. Moments later, Randy removed his shotgun and unleashed a horrifying wave of violence, shooting and killing three innocent people before turning the gun on himself. In the days leading up to this absolutely devastating tragedy, Randy broadcasted his dark intentions on his YouTube channel, revealing his twisted plan for destruction and exposing the depths of his pain and inner turmoil. This horrific event is not only about the shocking crime Randy executed, but the years of silent suffering and escalating darkness that drove him to that fateful moment. Note/Correction: Investigator Slater kept referring to A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story as a Netflix series, but it actually aired on BritBox. She's very sorry. Ruth Ellis was a 28-year-old nightclub hostess and mother who, in 1955, became the last woman to be executed in the United Kingdom. Her crime: the premeditated shooting of her abusive lover, David Blakely, outside a London pub in broad daylight. The trial was swift and the verdict was inevitable: Ruth Ellis was to hang for her crime. Despite mounting public sympathy and clear evidence of sustained physical and emotional abuse, the legal system refused to consider her mental state or the context of her actions. Ruth's execution sparked national outrage and helped ignite a decades-long movement toward the abolition of capital punishment in Britain. Her story remains one of the most haunting examples of how justice can fail those trapped by violence, gender, and a system determined to punish and condemn, rather than understand and help. So, while this is the story of Ruth Ellis, it is, at its core, about so much more. Trigger warning: This episode discusses difficult topics including suicide, homicide, and other forms of trauma.  Please listen with caution. What comes to mind when you think of "black metal" music? Face paint, screams laced with hate, rage, aggression. Most metalheads might talk a big game about Satan, death, and destruction, but in reality are often mild-mannered accountants or kindergarten teachers who can’t even stand the sight of blood. But what if the darkness wasn’t just for show? What if the chaos, the obsession with death, and the destruction wasn’t a stage persona but a way of life (and death)? This was the grim reality for Mayhem, a Norwegian black metal band formed just outside Oslo in 1984, widely regarded as the pioneers of the Norwegian black metal scene. Their infamy goes far beyond the music they created or the genre they helped define—it’s rooted in the pure, unrelenting chaos, violence, and nihilism they embodied. Onstage, offstage, and in the very depths of their existence, they lived what many would only dare to perform: satanic worship, neo-Nazism, arson, cannibalism, suicide, and murder. As the band name suggests, this case is absolute mayhem. Elizabeth Struhs was a bright, beautiful 8-year-old girl whose precious life depended on insulin to manage her diabetes. Tragically, her parents, members of a fringe religious group in Australia called The Saints, followed a strict, literal interpretation of Christianity and the Bible. They rejected modern medicine in favor of prayer, believing it was the only path to healing for Elizabeth. As a result, this vulnerable little girl—unable to advocate for herself—suffered and died in front of the entire congregation. A room full of adults stood silently, eyes closed in prayer, while refusing to provide Elizabeth the one thing that could have saved her life. For The Saints, every moment of existence was meant to be devoted to worshiping God, no matter the cost—even if that cost was the life of an innocent child. He is the host of Chrissy Chaos and the co-host of History Hyenas. Chris is headlining the world famous Madison Square Garden on September 11, 2025 and has a brand new comedy special out on Hulu. WARNING: Investigator Slater barely made it through the recording of this episode. It’s a wild ride, so fasten your seatbelt and prepare yourself—this conversation takes some unexpected, "unpredictable" turns. So the real question is: Other Than That Mrs. Slater, How Was The Podcast?  On a crisp April evening in 1865, the play Our American Cousin was set to impress a full house. With President Abraham Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, in attendance, the air was electric with excitement. But suddenly, the sharp crack of a Derringer pistol shattered the atmosphere, and a .44 caliber lead ball lodged into the back of President Lincoln’s head, irrevocably altering the course of history in an instant. While history has rightly fixated on the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the peripheral figures in that fateful theater box bear their own harrowing, often overlooked stories. The gripping tale of Henry Rathbone and Clara Harris, forever intertwined with the brutality of that night, is one of heroism, relentless trauma, and the insidious toll of mental decline, PTSD, survivor's guilt, and, tragically, murder.   Instagram + Threads: @psychopediapod @tank.sinatra @investigatorslater Patreon: www.patreon.com/psychopediapod Email: psychopediapod@gmail.com Website: www.psychopediapodcast.com To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. In Part 2 of our coverage of serial killer Harvey Glatman, we delve into one of the darkest, most chilling criminal minds in American history. Harvey Glatman’s reign of terror left an indelible mark on both the innocent lives he claimed and the criminological community, as his crimes exposed the harrowing depths of human depravity. Over the course of several years, his brutal acts shattered the public's sense of security, offering a haunting glimpse into the darkness that can fester beneath the surface of ordinary life. Glatman’s fixation on domination, control, and the infliction of suffering grew from an early obsession with bondage and sadistic imagery, eventually evolving into meticulously orchestrated, horrific crimes. As we explore the psychological underpinnings of his actions, it becomes clear that Glatman’s mind was driven by a need to assert ultimate power—using fear and violence as tools to manipulate, dominate, and break his victims in the most unspeakable ways. Harvey Glatman, one of America’s earliest known serial killers and sadomasochists, was as calculated and twisted as he was intelligent. Under the pretense of being a professional photographer, he placed ads seeking pinup models for so-called "crime scene reenactments"—photoshoots he claimed were for detective magazines, a popular genre at the time. This elaborate ruse allowed Glatman to lure unsuspecting women straight into his trap, where he indulged his perverse obsession with control and dominance. Once isolated, he would bind, assault, and ultimately murder his victims, capturing their terror on film before disposing of their bodies. His chilling method—blending deception, manipulation, and sadism—would later make him a blueprint for future serial killers, demonstrating just how terrifyingly effective charm and calculated deceit could be. Disturbing topics of sexual assault, murder, and suicide are discussed - please listen with caution. Over the centuries, the idea of two souls deeply intertwined by destiny has been known by many names, including "twin flames." This connection is often viewed as predestined, something beyond human control—a bond that mirrors the concept of soulmates. It sounds beautiful, even enchanting... until it’s twisted and manipulated by the leader of a high-control group, a modern-day cult called the Twin Flames Universe. Here, the search for love and connection is hijacked, turning what should be a source of light into a suffocating darkness, where vulnerability is exploited, and people are forced to sacrifice their autonomy in the name of a false, oppressive ideology. Vampires do not simply hunt—they ensnare. They manipulate the minds of their prey, bending wills to drag their victims into a sinister dance of domination to satisfy their ancient cravings. Tracey Wigginton, driven by vampiric urges and an insatiable thirst for blood, masterfully orchestrated a horrifying act. She lured an innocent man, Edward Baldock, into a trap where she wound up gruesomely feasting on his blood as he remained helpless and naked under the pale moonlight. The chilling Australian case of Tracey Wigginton, dubbed by the media as "The Lesbian Vampire Killer," absolutely horrified the public as it unveiled the depths of human depravity and the dark, twisted motivations behind her brutal act. On the night of August 9, 2024, the brutalized body of a junior female doctor was discovered in an empty seminar room at the hospital in Kolkata, India, where she worked - a place where safety should have been provided. What followed her assault and murder exposed deeply entrenched issues of alleged institutional cover-up, police negligence, and political corruption. This case is nothing short of seismic - not merely for its grim details but for the tidal wave of outrage it has unleashed. It’s not only the story of one woman’s tragic end; it’s a piercing scream reverberating across a nation of 1.4 billion and beyond, sparking protests, strikes, and a collective reckoning concerning violence against women on a global scale. On December 4, 2024, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione is reported to have gunned down 50-year-old Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, on a NYC street using a 3D printed ghost gun. Since then, the public’s reaction has been sharply divided, oscillating between condemnation and sympathy. The controversy surrounding the crime at the center of today’s case has struck a raw nerve in the national psyche and is as profound as it is polarizing. Luigi has, perhaps inadvertently, become the face of a movement - a symbol of the struggle for an American healthcare system that values human well-being over profit margins. And in many circles, the focus has shifted away from the cold-blooded crime itself to the conditions that may have driven him to commit it. There are numerous conditions and ailments in the world, each with its own set of unique and sometimes unusual remedies. However, the belief that incest could "cure" a son's sexuality is not just deeply flawed, but also shockingly appalling. This belief tragically played out in the life of Barbara Baekeland, a former New York fashion model and quintessential Hollywood socialite. In the 1960s, Barbara viewed her son's homosexuality as a severe "condition" that needed correction. Her unimaginable solution was to attempt a "cure" through incest, an abhorrent decision that ultimately led to her own brutal death.  Instagram + Threads: @psychopediapod @tank.sinatra @investigatorslater Patreon: www.patreon.com/psychopediapod Email: psychopediapod@gmail.com Website: www.psychopediapodcast.com To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. In the stifling confines of a teeming New York City subway car, a fatal confrontation recently erupted that sent shockwaves throughout the nation/world. Jordan Neely, a former NYC Michael Jackson impersonator struggling with homelessness and well-documented mental health challenges, was ensnared in a lethal chokehold by Daniel Penny, a U.S. Marine veteran who perceived Jordan as a threat to public safety. Chillingly captured on bystander video, the terrifying scene unfolded with Jordan's desperate gasps for breath and the unflinching determination of Daniel's resolve. This incredibly tragic incident has ignited an ongoing, volatile public debate over the deeper societal issues it has illuminated:  systemic racism, vigilante justice, mental health crises, and civilian reactions in moments fraught with perceived danger.  Instagram + Threads: @psychopediapod @tank.sinatra @investigatorslater Patreon: www.patreon.com/psychopediapod Email: psychopediapod@gmail.com Website: www.psychopediapodcast.com To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. You didn't lik at ask the info that was disallowed at trial. Beata did indeed have Munchausen by Proxy. She offed herself right when she was supposed to face charges. Sally Smith was a good dr. Finally, the reason Maya got better is because she was never sick. The only illness she had, she was told by Beata to enhance her symptoms so that the doctors saw the pain; in the meantime, MBP proxies learn to exacerbate symptoms to appease their caretakers. Maya never had CRPS. Beata had MBP.

I'd like to point out that a 747 has about 404 seats. That means you'd fill 12.37 planes FULL of these "invisible children". The 'standing in a line' idea works well but for the higher numbers, I use a plane. That is a lot of children. 😥
