Merry Christmas from everyone at PSPHQ! It's our last episode of the season, and what better way to celebrate than with a big old festive party!
Join us as we look back on some of our favourite moments from the season, including some un-released bloopers, a bumper pub-quiz (with VIP questions and high-stake prizes), AND the all important 'Top 3 Album Ranking'.
Expect plenty of beer, a mountain of artefacts and lots of voices from the wider PSB fanbase!
The boys from the pod are joined by the inimitable man behind it all - J. Willgoose, Esq. Recorded in September this year prior to the launch of the new album and tour, J gives us an insider’s look at what’s in store for fans. We dive into the intricate tech behind the latest tour rig, explore the creative process that shaped their newest album, The Last Flight, and uncover how the band’s innovative approach continues to redefine musical storytelling.
Gearheads, music lovers, and PSB fans won’t want to miss this!
It's the artefact to end all artefacts, a bonus to end all bonuses...
EP One is here and in our hands... let's listen to it!
The first production to come out of PSBHQ is on the platter for the standard PSP treatment.
Public Service Podcasting is presented by Nathan Stewart, Crayg Ward and James Brown.
Three friends return to their makeshift studio to sit down for (possibly) the last time, to marvel in the latest album to leave PSBHQ: 'The Last Flight'.
Expect a monsoon of artefacts, a different kind of drink for every section, and a bunch of candid conversation made simply for the fun of it.
We also go on a field trip to London, to speak with Stephen Bridgewater of the Aerospace NOTAM Podcast, about some pioneering women of aviation.
Stay tuned for a few more treats headed to your ears before Christmas, for there shall come a mightier blast.
On this special bonus episode, the boys take their mics on the road for a long-anticipated return to being part of the PSB live-scene!
We meet a couple of #Informers at the Sir Ralph Abercromby pub in Manchester, AND get some decent music pumping out of the juke-box, before donning our aviator goggles and diving headfirst into the crowd at the Albert Hall.
It's a bumper-bonus ep featuring some new voices, and is one of our all-time favourites.
The three PSP gents recruit yet another member... It's Mr. B!
Excited to get on the road for the new tour, we chat about the live experience of a Public Service Broadcasting gig before another round of the PSP-PSB-PUB Quiz... but will Mr. B (a member of the actual band!) win?
Inspired by the Live at Brixton DVD commentary, the studio gets stinky with some goats cheese and Babybell to pair with the tasty Brixton beers!

A mini episode for a massive race.Prepare yourself for de Elfstedentocht.
The PSP team skate around PSB’s entry for Record Store Day 2014 – a two-track release commissioned by Dutch festival, Explore The North. Marking 10 years since this release, these tracks might just find their way onto the setlist for the upcoming tour.
With a new take on “beer” for the podcast, these three idiots create a disgusting new cocktail using a traditional Frisian spirit and a smelly artefact that’s been acquired through illicit means. Also on the agenda is; global warming, ice skates at mosh pits, and a pact to attend the next Elfstedentocht!

As we wait with bated breath for 'The Last Flight' to touch down, the PSP gang examine and deconstruct a playlist of Crayg's curation. We delve into the artists and samples behind this eclectic bag of remixes, which often take us far beyond their much loved PSB originals.
You can listen to said playlist here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/38CtfzXttFZH9fjZZ1r2dv?si=2246b3d22b924132
Expect the unexpected, along with a special collection of beers and a healthy dose of disagreement.

Two new singles to get our teeth into! The boys from the pod take a look at the 2nd and 3rd singles to be release ahead of 'The Last Flight'. These are 'The South Atlantic' featuring This Is The Kit, and 'The Fun Of It' featuring Andreya Casablanca.
The boys join one-another via zoom this time, and James struggles with some Brie.

Time for another informal yet informative royal-review from Messers Salmon, Wellgull and Hat.
In today's programme, 'The Boys From The Pod' fire up their microphones and listening apparatus to inspect 'This New Noise'.
James makes his case for Public Service Broadcasting (the role of the BBC in today's ever changing media landscape.... not the band), Nathan struggles to accept the album and Crayg hears it for the first time! Three wildly different perspectives make for an engaging listen.
Were you present in the Albert Hall in 2022? Did you buy the album in 2023? Should they have toured it??

In this special edition of the podcast, the three stooges sit down with the (5th?) member of PSB, the wonderful Anna Lena Bruland, AKA EERA.
News about the upcoming tour, life as part of PSB and creative album time are all topics on the menu.

Emerging out of der sumpf and dancing their way around the straße of Berlin; 'Wardy', 'The Duke' and 'Uncle Nathan' shine a light on the concepts of PSB's fourth album, Bright Magic - released in September 2021 on PIAS.
We'll be honest... this episode nearly breaks the trio into a three parts (much like the album) as James has to cut Crayg's mic when things go too far and Nathan tries to leave the podcast (twice!) - It might be the strong German beers, the abstract art, or maybe James' bulbs are just a bit too bright...

We've got a bumper bonus episode, chatting to a chorus (almost) of exceptional Welsh vocalists; Lisa Jên Brown & Chris Evans (from the Beaufort Male Choir).
Join us as we welcome the guest vocalists from Public Service Broadcasting's third studio album, Every Valley. Both of our guests share their own stories and experiences of working with the band and it's clear how their personal connections to the historic industry of Wales has influenced their musicality.
We begin by speaking to Lisa Jên. Of course, we discuss the emotional highlight of the album, You + Me (her duet with J Willgoose Esq.), but we also enjoy some chat about dogs, 90s raves, wild swimming, gong baths and her band, 9Bach.
We start chatting to Chris Evans around the 37 minute mark, exploring the history of Male Voice Choirs, rugby, what it was like to go on the road with PSB and the power that music has for improving wellbeing and community.

Our second bonus episode of the series!
On the 20th of April, the band released a special single for Record Store Day, distributed around the UK to independent record stores. The man in search of this record is a podcaster and vinyl collector: Commander - Wonky - Hat.
_____
For this episode, we step out into the world, away from our studio. The Commander makes it his mission to queue for 12 hours to get the limited release of Gagarin, whilst H.C. Wellgulls and Jaberlongy Salmon (who don't want to do that) stay safe and warm to chat about the new PSB logo and tour announcement. Tune in to find out which gigs our gang will grace.
As for the 12 hours on the cold streets of Chester?...
Was it hazardous? Yes, it was!
Will Wonky be the first to open the door?
The first to step over the threshold into the shop?

The PSP gang welcome their very first guest, the multi-talented artist, illustrator, designer and podcaster JAMWAH.
Jamie's work includes the cover artwork for the PSB singles: Sputnik / Korolev, People Will Always Need Coal, Everest, Gagarin, Go!, The Other Side, Nightmail, Theme From PSB, and Signal 30. He is also the man behind the artwork for the band's debut album: Inform - Educate - Entertain.
Join us as we chat about the process behind his work, how he became involved with the band, and what it feels like to be responsible for such iconic creations.

James Brown, Crayg Ward, and Nathan Stewart 'take you for a real ride' with another deep-dive into the discography of PSB.
Episode 2 continues where we left off, with the band's debut album: Inform - Educate - Entertain. Released on the 6th of May 2012 on Test Card Recordings.
There may be trouble ahead, as the team find themselves wrestling with the album's concepts, as well as the logistical problem of having far too many mugs in the studio.
'Heeeeeeere we go again!'
