(2 of 2) "I am with you." Haggai chapter two shows a people who have repented, are faithfully obedient to the work, and yet are discouraged. God's message of, "I am with you," provides comfort and hope. Additionally, Haggai foretells and forthtells about the new temple and new kingdom. (Part 1) Consider your ways! The little book of Haggai has some major power! Written shortly after the exiles have returned from 70 years in captivity, Haggai offers a glimpse into the relationship between God's presence and our obedience. In this episode, we'll review the Minor Prophets, introduce Haggai, and consider the first of the two chapters.

(Part 2) Look and see. This pattern is processed in the song-like structure of Habakkuk. The prophet cries, "Look and see," to a God that can bring justice. Yahweh God responds, "Look and see," to a prophet who cannot understand the mighty works of God. In part two of this miniseries, we see the song shift from a lament to a taunt to a victory hymn of faith. Some of the most popular and comforting words of the prophets are found in these chapters.

(Part 1) There are many Bible writers and narratives where people cry out to God. There is even a specific type of Bible literature called "Lament Scripture." Often, laments are left unanswered. These powerful cries give voice to the suffering and pain of God's people who may have faith and yet are coping with extreme challenges. Habakkuk's work is a brief song-like book that contains lament. One of the unique features of this little work is that Yahweh God answers! Join us as we process the cries of a prophet who sees injustice and suffering. Consider the replies of a long-suffering and just God.

(Part 2) Nahum's little book is a taunt. Imagine a single person standing opposite the world's most powerful army and taunting them about their utter destruction. It seems preposterous. And yet, God called Nahum to "comfort" the oppressed while condemning the oppressor. There is so much to learn from this so called "minor" prophet.
