Description
Talk about historical boardgames and boardgaming. Tabletop conflict simulation boardgames, from old school hex-and-counter to modern card driven games and beyond. If it's a historical game, a political game, or a wargame, we'll talk about it.
We dive into specific games in detail each episode, with tips on how to play and how the game fits in with other similar games. As well, we usually have an interview with a designer or publisher. And finally, we have news from the history gaming world as well as tips for new players and general chatter about what's happening in the hobby we love.

Sorry my previous comment got cut off. The big factor that separates Nevsky from Almoravid (I haven't yet played Inferno) is the brutal impact of the weather. Mistakes in Nevsky can be terminal because of the weather factor and this factor requires the player to plan very carefully indeed otherwise it can literally be game over. I appreciate others may have a differing view and would be interested in yours. Great podcast, very much appreciated!
Hi Grant, first off many congratulations on pulling together and delivering such an excellent podcast. I find your approach to putting across the significant amount of content you deliver in each podcast very easy to listen to and take onboard. Being a very big fan of the Levy and Campaign series I was particularly interested in episode 24 with Will Bauer and true to form did find much to entertain and inform me. However the almost dismissal of Nevsky by Will in the podcast was perplexing especially after Will admitted he hadn't grasped the narrative of the history and the therefore the game and also didn't like the box art (crikey). Nevsky as you well know is where the L&C series started, it is the essence of all that L&C has become and cannot be overlooked in any podcast about the series. Having played Nevsky and Almoravid a number of times (and Will did make some good points about Almoravid) I have developed a view that Almoravid is L&C for players who want a more comfortable life.
