There's nothing more stereotypical than a vicar. In British comedies vicars are bumbling old white men but when The Vicar Of Dibley sitcom aired in 1994 on BBC One we were introduced to a loveable female vicar, played by Dawn French from French & Saunders & Harry Potter. This show is a light hearted loud out load comedy, but if this show was made in America would it be full of religious agendas? Would they be able to watch this show and accept this female vicar that lusts?
Political correctness, sexuality, gender, racism and being offended... Subjects that we never thought we'd be talking about when this sketch comedy originally aired. In this episode we're going to be focusing on David Walliams & Matt Lucas's, Little Britain! We will also be covering their other shows such as Come Fly With Me to Rock Profile, as well as Karla's obsessive crush on David... I also get attacked by a cat mid podcast.
Ben decides to give his American girlfriend, Karla, a masterclass in dark comedy with our second episode being, Nighty Night! The British sense of humour can often be sarcastic, ironic, self-deprecating and just damn right dark. We discuss how to get away with rape and cancer jokes, television being afraid of taking risks and included our very own segment of ASMR!
As a long-distance relationship couple, it seemed fitting for our first episode to be Gavin & Stacey! We discuss long-distance relationships, the icon that is PAM, the oven gloves scene and Linda McCartney's sausages...
Join long-distance couple Benjamin Black and Karla Weidenboerner as he introduces his American girlfriend to British television shows that aren't your stereotypical Downton Abbey. From sketch shows to dark sitcoms this series will cover some of the most popular British television comedies. Is British and American humour that different? Let's find out!
