Description

Queer in College is a six episode podcast mini-series about the queer student experience. Each episode will feature guests from a variety of backgrounds (students, professionals, professors, etc.) to give a broad range of queer issues in higher education. We will ask big questions - the kinds which may or may not have clear answers - and we will attempt to educate, speak authentically from our own experiences, and provide resources for those who wish to challenge systems.

In the sixth and final installment of Queer in College, I wanted to talk about spirituality and queer identity, as it has been a major question in my own journey. Join me in conversation with the wonderful Reverend Kate Taber as we discuss what it means to engage with students who may feel excluded or harmed by religion and why it might be compelling to ask questions of spirituality while in college. I am left with so many more questions, but my hope is that this conversation does not stop here!
Join me as I chat with Neil Jamerson, the Assistant Vice President of Student Development at Furman University. Neil shares the moving story of how he got into social justice work, and he speaks candidly about his experience advocating for queer students and other students with marginalized identities as a senior administrator. This is yet another episode which contributed profoundly to my own learning, and I am so excited to share it as a resource for others!
Today, I chat with two of my biggest role-models ever, Dr. Scott Henderson and Dr. Sarah Worth. Both of these fabulous individuals played a huge role in my own identity development, and I am thrilled to welcome them to Queer in College! Join us as we talk about mentorship, challenges, and LGBTQ+ issues over time from a faculty perspective. Soak in all the wisdom and learn about some great resources for queer students as well.
I am so excited to chat with 3 seniors at Boston College - Ryan, Mikey, and Cole - who reflect on their personal experiences with queerness in college. Together we discuss college expectations, roommates, social life, advice for future students, and much more! Join us as we navigate what it means to foster growth, discovery, and meaning, while identifying as queer and getting that degree!
In the first episode of Queer in College, join me as I talk with my two best friends, Ben Davids and Davis Cousar, to discuss what it was like to have gay friends in college. Together we reflect on how our different identities affected our engagement with Greek Life, New Student Orientation, and impacted our understanding of larger, structural issues of oppression within higher education and beyond.
