The indoor queers of QQC ventured out to the Ottawa Podcast Festival to record a Pride-themed live show!  In honour of Capital Pride and the coming out of Ottawa mayor Jim Watson, we thirstily downed The Watson cocktail.  Join our audience as Sarah, Mikey, Luke and Bradley try out solar powered fleshlights, wonder if nuns can masturbate and search our new favourite XTube category, "girls with broken arms and rabies", while answering LGBT and weird news trivia.  Thank you to Elise and Andrea of Rabbit Holes podcast and JP Davidson of Pop Up Podcasting for organizing and facilitating the festival.  Additional gratitude to CHOU 89.1 FM, Live on Elgin and Bert Schopf.  The Watson * 1 ounce rum * Half an ounce Blue Curacao * A purse full of lemonade * Dash of raspberry Sourpuss * Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into chilled cocktail glasses rimmed with rainbow sugar. Cheers! QQC is delving into unfamiliar territory with this episode themed around the testo-esto love affair (and general sexuality, which we are very familiar with) as a sort of anti-Pride.   Join Vesna, Amanda, Sarah and Bradley as we match with each other on Tinder, make the connection between tzatziki sauce and pederasty and sign up for foot fetishist research studies.  Queers, Questions and Cocktails will close out the inaugural Ottawa Podcast Festival, Saturday, August 24 at Live on Elgin! Our show will be Pride-themed to celebrate Capital Pride weekend. We go on around 11pm but the day starts at 1pm. There are lots of awesome, pop culture-focused, local podcasts to check out. Visit OPF site for all the details and tickets. Use the code PODFAN2019 for $5 off.  Straight To Bed *Half shots of Triple Sec, cognac and white rum *Quarter shots of blue curacao and lemon juice *Cut with orange juice *Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, shake and strain into a chilled cocktail glass Cheers! A terrifying tale of parasitic beasts from beyond, the original Alien film turns 40 this month. To celebrate the sci-fi classic we’re being wounded by Ripley’s Splatter Shot. Listen as Bradley, Melanie, Mikey, and Sarah, who watched an completely unrelated movie in preparation, review the recent high school stage adaptation, talk the Simpsons’ visit to Ottawa, shop for government weed and learn Alien franchise trivia. Ripley's Splatter Shot *3 shots peach schnapps *3 shots melon liqueur *Drizzle of Bailey’s strawberries and cream Combine schnapps and liqueur in a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake and fill green shot glasses nearly full. Splash of Bailey’s for that violent splatter. Makes 6-8 shells.  Cheers! To combat North America's severely bitter winter weather Queers, Questions and Cocktails is prescribing the Polar Vortex Antidote test tube shot on this cold and virus-themed episode.  Bradley welcomes back show veterans Sarah and Mikey as they join Canqueer's Luke and QQC virgin-as-fresh-snow Melanie to search icy forests for psychotic beavers, rage-buy shawls, climb into clothing donation bins and sprinkle parsley on piping hot vagina soup.  Polar Vortex Antidote *3 shots melon liqueur *3 shots maraschino liqueur *1 & a half shots blue curacao *1 shot white rum *a splash of tonic water for medicinal carbonation Combine all alcoholic ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake and pour into test tubes three quarters full. Top with tonic water. Makes eight to ten doses. Cheers! QQC023 Black Christmas

2018-12-2600:55:26

QQC has a dark offering to stuff in your stocking this season with this off-kilter episode where we consume the cookie-compatible Black Christmas After Eight cocktail.  Bradley doles out guessable gifts as Chloe, Jey, and Canqueer's Luke and Sebastian sleigh holiday trivia ranging from Bill Cosby's greatest Yuletide hits to the classic Canadian Christmas slasher movie.   For a double dose of trivia featuring the same group, check out Canqueer's Big Gay Quiz. QQC is nominated for Best Podcast at the 2019 Faces of Ottawa Awards. Vote here.  Black Christmas After Eight *1 shot of crème de cacao *1 shot of crème de menthe  *half shot of cream *pinch of salt Pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for ten seconds and pour over ice in a martini glass to serve. For those of you who prefer a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, just replace the crème de menthe with an orange liqueur. Cheers! It seems like we've been off for decades! On the season three premiere of QQC we look back at the ridiculously decadent era that was the 1980s. Welcome Canqueer team members Luke, Sebastian and Jake as they join Bradley to remember '80s video games, assert drinking flavoured vodka is so white and down too many Cyndi on the Beach cocktails, a retro twist on an old, sexy standard honouring songstress Cyndi Lauper.  Cyndi on the Beach *1 & a half ounces each of apple vodka, cranberry juice and orange juice * half and ounce of peach schanpps * cherries and a tiki umbrella as garnish * Chambord or crème de cassis are optional additions Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker half full with ice. Shake and strain into a highball glass. It's hot on the beach so garnish with a tiki umbrella and plump cherries. Cheers! Live from a recording studio covered in cellophane, it's a serial killer-themed episode of QQC where we imbibe on the inky and lethal Dark Passenger cocktail. Join Taylor, Sarah, Greg and Bradley as we dub Ed Gein the crafty Martha Stewart of murderers, watch a very creative porn, profess our love for Parker Posey and list off serial killers' favourite drinks.  The last two months were our best ever in terms of downloads. Thank you for listening. Please rate us and leave a review on iTunes. Feel free to suggest questions, themes or cocktails at qqcpod@gmail.com. For a more serious but equally entertaining listen, Bradley recently appeared on the syndicated radio show and podcast Canqueer. Find the episode here or on radio stations nationwide.  The Dark Passenger *1.5 ounces vodka *1 ounce triple sec *.5 ounce lemon juice *Prosecco *1 dash burnt orange bitters *squid ink to color Mix the vodka, triple sec, lemon juice and a squirt of ink in a shaker over ice. Pour that black deliciousness in a champagne flute and top with Prosecco. Add a dash of burnt orange bitters. Cheers!
