Yitzy has been in recovery for a number of years. His primary program is SA, although he appreciates all the S fellowships and utilizes what he can from each of them. Yitzy also has worked the program for codependency out of the big book, which essentially allowed him to become more emotionally sober and eventually start dating. More recently, he started working ACA (adult children of alcoholics), which helped him put a voice to trauma that he wasn't aware of. It's a continuing journey, and Yitzy has already had a spiritual awakening as the result of getting started with facing his childhood. By God's grace, Yitzy got married to his wife, who is also in recovery. We now they have a baby girl. That has taken both of them on a deeper journey into recovery, healing from trauma, self judgment, fear, and responsibilities.  He will speak to us on what it's like to be a new parent in recovery.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Here is a little about our guest speaker today, Ora F, in her own words:  Having attended alanon as a teenager with a family member, I became familiar with the presence of a higher power in the rooms early on. My search for meaning is now underscored with the big book as I practice seeking on a daily basis. I am thankful to the rooms all over the world that support me as I navigate my recovery in marijuana addiction through the cycles of chronic pain. The awareness through these 164 pages has been a bright spot in my life.Reco12 Afro-Euro Timezone is a Reco12 Resource in and for the Afro-Euro time zone hosted by Karen A.  We hope that you will join us and draw strength and hope from these podcasts that we will host every other Wednesday at 9AM GMT / 11AM Israel time.Reco12 appreciates your help in keeping us working our 12th Step with these great resources and services for the addict and loved ones.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs.  To become a Reco12 Spearhead you can quickly and easily become a monthly donor here: https://www.reco12.com/support  or you can do one-time donations through PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/reco12)  or Venmo:  @Reco-Twelve .  Thanks for your support! If you would like to get in contact with either Karen A or Ora F, please send an email to reco12pod@gmail.com and we will get you connected with them.Support the showPrivate Facebook GroupInstagram PageBecome a Reco12 Spearhead (Monthly Supporter)PatreonPayPalVenmo: @Reco-TwelveYouTube ChannelReco12 WebsiteEmail: reco12pod@gmail.com to join WhatsApp GroupReco12 Shares PodcastReco12 Shares Record a Share LinkReco12 Noodle It Out with Nikki M PodcastReco12 Big Book Roundtable Podcast
Raised in the 1960’s and 70’s in Manhattan by parents who worshipped at the altar of the never ending party, Constance S’s alcoholism was a result of both nature and nurture. Having her first black out at 14 and having the Irish side of her family riddled with alcoholism, she knew her drinking days had an expiration date. And so Constance drank and snorted blow with a vengeance until she had reached jer limit of shame, bad decisions, holes in her memory and the detritus that we who are alcoholics have swirling around us. And so now, with 38 years of hard fought and hard won recovery under her belt, cobbled together one day at a time, she wouldn’t change any of it as she considers herself one of the most blessed humans on the planet, a truly grateful alcoholic.  In this meeting she shares how she stays sober in a world that celebrates alcohol.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. You will not want to miss this one if you are a married person working your recovery.  John belongs to AA and Recovering Couples Anonymous (RCA). Early in Sobriety, he became a single parent to 3 kids due to his ex-wife's addictions. While AA became a way of life, John found great difficulty applying the principles in his marriage. Although he wasn't drinking he would withdraw under emotional pressure. John joined RCA in 2019 and started a recovery program in his marriage. Today he actively tries to merge his Higher Power in his recovery, marriage, and faith.Reco12 is self-supporting, and your contributions help us continue our mission. A little about Cheryl B in her own words:   I lived years in recovery as a dry drunk, thinking sobriety was my goal and battled with my thinking. Being sober did not mean I was working a 12 Step Program. In the grip of a progressive illness, it got worse, never better, until I finally handed my life over to a Power greater than myself.  Today she speaks on the topic of God is Everything or God is Nothing.Reco12 Afro-Euro Timezone is a Reco12 Resource in and for the Afro-Euro time zone hosted by Karen A. If you would like to get in contact with either Karen A or Cheryl, please send an email to reco12@gmail.com and we will get you connected with them.Support the showPrivate Facebook GroupInstagram PageBecome a Reco12 Spearhead (Monthly Supporter)PatreonPayPalVenmo: @Reco-TwelveYouTube ChannelReco12 WebsiteEmail: reco12pod@gmail.com to join WhatsApp GroupReco12 Shares PodcastReco12 Shares Record a Share LinkReco12 Noodle It Out with Nikki M PodcastReco12 Big Book Roundtable Podcast

Ashley S from North Carolina is grateful to be a recovered sex addict and codependent. She has a deep love for the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous as it is the primary text that enabled her to enter upon a new relationship with her Creator and have a profound spiritual awakening to overcome her sex addiction back in 2021.  However, Ashley found herself hopeless once more as she was stuck in a toxic relationship in sobriety. By the grace of the God, she entered into the rooms of Al-Anon back in March 2023 and found a sponsor to take her back through the Big Book to heal from her codependency. Ashley’s talk today is based on Steps 6 & 7 and another spiritual text which had a profound impact on her recovery journey – Drop the Rock. Today, she is passionate about carrying the message to the addict who still suffers as she found it was the solution to help her “drop her rocks.” Ashley is grateful to be back on Reco12 one year later after reworking the 12 steps to share her new story!Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Here is a little about Ralph D.  From being raped by his brother at the age of 15 and groomed by four of his friends from that age until I was almost 18 lead him to many years of resentment, drinking very hard, using drugs and planning on killing the five of them or anyone that looked like them. The planning went on for many years in his head because he was trying to figure out a way of getting away with it without having to go to prison and without having to kill himself. In 2006 a friend of his told him (while they were drinking Jack Daniels and snorting cocaine) that he could find happiness in life if he went to AA and worked the steps and he believed hi=s friend. Ralph worked the steps right away after getting a sponsor and learned about forgiveness through working the fourth fifth sixth and seventh step. Through doing that he has never had that resentment again and his life has been much better. He currently has almost 3 years of S-Anon sobriety and part of the message he wants to give is to don't give up and to keep coming back.  He speaks to us today on resentment and obsession of the mind being a dangerous place to be.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Chuck started off his sobriety journey, July 9, 2020 after feeling useless to everybody, especially to himself, that’s when he stuck a pistol in his mouth. He drank to black out since he was 13 years old, and at 46, finally hit his bottom. The 12 steps has led him to a God that he has only been able to experience, through working the 12 steps and living them on a daily basis.  Chuck has found usefulness in his life, usefulness to others, and especially usefulness to himself.Chuck thanks God for bringing him to AA!!Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path.
