Description

Celtic fans of a certain age discuss all things Celtic, where the only xG that is discussed is expected Guinness.

Trying to capture the vibe of the post-match discussion among mates over a pint.

Suitable for Tims of a certain vintage.

It's a two-hander this week as our man in the east is in Poland and we *might* have taken advantage of his absence when it came to the RGC nominations for this week. Chris gives a first-hand account of the 12-minute protest at Rugby Park, and we discuss the game and that last-minute penalty, which, as well as bagging all three points, upset all the right people. Nice. Of course, we had to have a hearty chortle about events in Govan on Saturday and the WhatsApp group unpleasantness it triggere...
As a follow-up to Tuesday's episode, we recorded a pod as we had a representative at Wednesday night's meeting, our man in the east, corporate schill, and all round good guy, Paul. He gives a brief summary of what happened, and it wouldn't be an RGC pod if we didn't flex our "cynical aul' gits" muscles, so we do voice a few concerns. That said, all of the concerns are ones that we feel can be easily addressed and overcome. As the pod title suggests, we are cautiously optimistic that we are on...
They drag us back in. Welcome to The Godfather 3 podcast. The plan to take advantage of the International break went up in flames thanks to an "accidental" leak of a conversation about the manager, followed up by a simply incredible statement, released at ten to nine on Saturday night. A statement sponsored by Chateauneuf-De-Pape and Chat GPT by the sound, length and accuracy of it. Chris Paul and Jim discuss both events and we also got some input from Kieron O'Connor, the man behind the exce...
I don't think any of us were quite prepared for the clusterf*ck of the closure of the transfer window. We start by discussing Sunday to set the (bad) mood for the rest of the pod. Concerns are raised about both the manager and the captain, and our apparent inability to get up for big games. That's the last five where we've not shown up. Surely the last day of the transfer window would cheer us up? Well, it didn't and don't call me Shirley. As you can imagine, the board and the major sharehold...
As promised, here is the European "Special" if it can be called that. We decided to get someone on the pod who might genuinely have an idea what he is talking about when it comes to squad dynamics, player performances and what effect uncertainty can have on a club. We therefore got ex-pro, ex-asst manager and all-round good guy, Davie Farrell to talk about the events of the last week. It's not cheery listening in some ways, but Davie is always worth listening to and he does end on an upbeat n...
That's Rabbie, not Tommy, of course... An executive decision was made last week that this episode would only focus on Saturday's game and events domestically. There will be another pod later in the week dealing with all things European. With Chris on holiday, it's a two-hander, so as we're only discussing the Livvy game, the mood in the camp is pretty cheery, helped by a good second half performance and "events" in Edinburgh and Paisley. There is frustration that we can't claim credit for chr...
Three men of a certain age are still feeling tender after the RGC day out, so that, allied to the usual complaints about the board, it's a bit of a subdued episode. We discuss Friday's very cheery and entertaining game against Falkirk, and then discuss the CL qualifier. Two of the team are very confident, the other has some residual Celtic in Europe PTSD, which means he's a little less bullish about the tie. There's a bit of a preview of the Livvy game, and we agree that the outcome of Wednes...
Another increase in the giddyness quotient this week. We discuss Sunday's game and it's broadly positive and actually, there is genuine positivity when we discuss the performances of Maeda, mind you, it's somewhat balanced out when we discuss Idah and Scales, but overall, even the horror of the four quid Pittodrie Pie can't dampen the lads' enthusiasm. Like Sportscene on Saturday, three old blokes discuss the other results at the weekend, with one result in particular getting slightly more at...
A slightly more upbeat episode this week. (Only slightly mind you) We discuss the Flag Day victory against St Mirren and reflect on Brendan's Friday press conference, which did have a whiff of "Back me or I'm off" about it. There's a bit of actual xG chat but largely in a "point and laugh" context when discussing the game at Motherwell at the weekend. Sunday's game against Aberdeen gets a preview of sorts and there's some chat about the CL draw and ticket prices for the upcoming games. ...
Sadly it’s a familiar theme in what should have been an upbeat pre-season episode. Three grumpy Tims of a certain vintage railing against Dermot and the unacceptable way he's running the show. Even the new Dundee manager making a James Hunt of his first few weeks in the job isn't enough to lift our mood. Hopefully, in a few weeks time we'll look back at this recording and laugh. As always thanks for your support. Thanks to @fitzpas.com for the artwork and @arseneparcelie.bsky.soci...
Yes, the RGC lads are back for a Summer Special, but if you're looking for laughs from a Summer Special, then you're probably better off buying the one The Beano releases. We talk about the impact on the squad of the departures this close season and discuss the arrival of what appears to be a number of projects in the window thus far. Our absentee Irish landlord and his transfer fee ceiling and his tatouazophobia* come in for some criticism too. The lads discuss the best resolution for ...
Well, compared to the RGC lads Rev I.M. Jolly is a ray of f*cking sunshine. Maybe it's entitlement but in a season where we won the league and the League Cup and did okay in the CL, it's a very downbeat episode. None of us has shaken off that absolute shambolic cup final performance and there's not a huge amount of confidence that the summer is going to cheer us up. The manager's contract position is a concern as the idea of him running down his contract isn't one that any of the lads w...

It's a packed programme The host's professionalism is tested We have pre-match pints with two Pat Nevins and a Mad John Post-match nonsense in the Press Bar with a somewhat pished host recording a "drop in" from a special guest There's a discussion about the supposed East End War zone, and we offer a simple solution. We have a cup final preview and some chat about the managerial merry-go-round. And for Southside Tims, there's an RGC you will undoubtedly agree is worthy of the hono...

As the host was otherwise disposed and our man in the East was poncing about up that Italy our man in the West is the only one of the team who saw Saturday's 90 minutes. Not a huge amount to say about the game. Was it a bafflingly toothless performance from Hibs, or was it really professional game management by Celtic? We have a chat about Wednesday's "gonnae gie wee Jamesey a goal mister" match against Aberdeen and then the lads make their plans for Saturday's trophy presentation agai...

It could have been another giddy pod had Maeda made the right decision but he gets a pass as he's got a LOT of credit in the bank. We have our very own Kate Adie's report from behind the Tarrier barrier, and our reflections from the game. We all get the fear when we consider who the back four will be in the game at the weekend against Hibs. There's a moan about tickets for the cup final, and the host shamelessly tries to get one of the contributors to rise to the bait about a certain mana...
As you can imagine, the mood on the pod this week is officially giddy AF. We have a great time talking about Saturday's game, have a moan about Sky and their presenters pulling players away from the celebrations so they can ask them mundane questions at time up. We return briefly to the issue of ticket prices and applaud the two protests during the game although we do feel sorry for the poor b*stard who had to blow up all those "Stolen from Sports Direct" fitbaws. All in all, we make a bit of...

A two handed episode this week as Chris joins Jim as Paul is having a mid-life crisis in Santa Ponsa. We have a message from the Remy McSwain fan club and reflect on Sunday's semi-final and we couldn't miss an opportunity to have a chuckle at the Jambos and Chris revels in a Craig Gordon "masterclass" from the other semi. That brings us to a preview of Saturday's game at Tannadice, and we then have a discussion about ticketing in general from home matches, cup semis and finals to aw...
An extra "mini-pod", recorded as a test of yet another recording set-up by the useless aul' b*stard of a host. Fingers crossed that it works. We decided to have a chat about who gives Maeda any kind of run for his money in the Player Of The Year stakes and it's fair to say that second place was a LONG way back. In fairness, at least there were a few candidates for second place, as when we considered Young Player Of The Year, we stumbled across a subject for a close-season podcast about our de...
We've mixed it up a bit this week. As Chris was in Manchester for the weekend and Jim seized the chance to use his seat, we have a stand-in host for this week's episode. (With Taylor making his return to the starting lineup, it was probably for the best.) We reflect on a great first-half performance on Saturday and a perfunctory second half. A remarkable explanation is offered about the Man Of The Match award by the stand-in host to end the reflection on that game. We salute St Mirren for con...
Welcome to this week's pod. The "gid-ometer" should have been off the f*cking charts after Saturday's fixtures, however... Despite pre-record protestations we had all calmed down after Sunday's game it didn't take much to get us foaming at the mouth after an absolutely abject performance in Perth. After a cathartic discussion of the St Johnstone game the pod host *may* have triggered one of the contributors when we started talking about Saturday's game against Killie. As alway...
