Description
Y'alright? Ages ago... People were sayin' this is the definitive fan-led remastering & lost content discovery project for the legendary XFM radio show with Ricky "Play a Record" Gervais, Stephen "Man Alive" Merchant and Karl "K-Man" Pilkington, with such gems as MONKEY NEWS & EDUCATING RICKY.
The trio began their pointless, mind-numbing Saturday afternoon radio show in August 2001 on XFM, a shoddy tin-pot radio station. They did 4 radio series before launching their record-breaking podcast in 2005.
Enjoy remastered episodes with lost bits, and original compilations!

PART 1 of a 2-part BEST OF compilation of one of Karl Pilkington's most beloved features, MONKEY NEWS. Monkeys are near and dear to Karl's simian heart. He spent much of his time during the XFM years sitting at home, looking up spurious monkey facts on the Internet. He would then share this unreliable monkey-related drivel with his two best friends, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who, over time, became increasingly irate at Karl's evermore outlandish monkey musings. This BEST OF compilation is based on the comprehensive 4-part MONKEY NEWS compilation released previously on this channel.

Compilation of all of Karl Pilkington's short-lived, but truly astounding feature: Cheeky Freak of the Week. An off-the-wall segment in which Karl introduces his dearest friends, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, to a random "freak" person with some sort of deformity or abnormality. He never meant to be insensitive or have a go at these people. Instead, he was just utterly fascinated with any kind of oddity or strangeness. Karl's mission is for people to put themselves into a little weird fella's shoes, and ponder what being viewed by society as a freak would be like. Mad, innit?

BEST OF Compilation of Karl Pilkington's SONGS OF PHRASE feature, for which Karl combines pieces of songs to re-enact "popular" sayings from the show. Originally, Karl called the feature, CROSSWORDS, because he got words and sort of crossed 'em and that... The name changed to SONGS OF PHRASE in response to a fan's suggestion. Listeners try to guess all of the songs that the well-known phrase is composed of.

PART 2 of a 2-part BEST OF compilation of Karl Pilkington's ROCKBUSTERS (a cheap knockoff of Blockbusters) from the Xfm Ricky Gervais Show with Stephen Merchant. Not only was this one of Karl's longest running features (along with Monkey News), but it was also voted by fans as his greatest XFM feature of all time.
Karl Pilkington gives a cryptic clue (it's usually nonsense) and the initials of a famous band or artist (he sometimes gets the initials wrong), and listeners either call, or as the feature developed (unless they were experiencing technical difficulties), email in their answers. The winner gets an arbitrary assortment of tat, often including a pointless DVD seemingly chosen at random from the bargain bucket.
This 2-part BEST OF ROCKBUSTERS Compilation is based on the comprehensive 6-part ROCKBUSTERS compilation of every Rockbuster segment from the Xfm Ricky Gervais Show (released previously).

Karl Pilkington nearly died many times as a child. It truly is a miracle that he survived into adulthood. Karl was always prone to choking, but also could've died in a number of other embarrassing ways. Not only that... He also nearly died live on-air attempting to break the world records for hamburger stuffing and grape eating! Suffice to say, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are amazed and grateful that their little buffoonish friend, Karl Pilkington, is still alive today. ENJOY!
PART 7, and final installment, of a Compilation of all the guests, callers and emailers from The Ricky Gervais Show on Xfm. This compilation includes such luminaries as Jonathan Ross, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Dr. Neil Fox, as well as a random assortment of listeners participating in inane competitions, responding to pointless questions from the hosts, commenting on Karl's antics, or popping in for no apparent reason.
Ricky Gervais is keen to hear from their dedicated listeners, Stephen Merchant would rather they not allow the unwashed masses onto the show, and Karl Pilkington just wants his little features to educate his audience.

again another thing that got just cut out of the show, the demo tapes :/ if the hosts are talking about it it should have been left in! this makes me want to go back to the originals! thanks for remastering them but you've cut so much out of the series
you skipped the hold the line bit too
Where's 'Dont cry it's christmas'? why has that been removed? I also noticed in the episode where they're listening to Wonderful Tonight they've edited out the song bits in between which kinda ruins that section. I get it's supposed to be a clean edit and remaster but I think these things should be added back.
