Radio Free DC with James Winkler and Steve Winkler
Radio Free DC is a listener-supported underground program all about the music, entertainment, historic, and hottest happenings in-and-around the Nation’s Capitol. We represent DC-MD-VA with a wide range of showcase entertainment, music, news, and more. Featuring homegrown, untapped talent and venues, eclectic sounds, ethnic vibes, unplugged interviews with famous and future DC artists, as well as exciting information and events you won’t hear about anywhere else!
James (Jamie) Winkler is President of CAP (Creative Art Productions) Enterprises, a local PR Management and Real Estate Development Firm. CAP Enterprises was recently featured in Forbes Magazine.
Jamie has a deep and abiding love for music in general, but especially that of his hometown Washington DC (and vicinity). His tastes are eclectic and range from the old Jazz and Blues sounds coming out of U Street (Duke Ellington) to the garage bands in surrounding suburbia, like The Vanilla Fudge, to the rural Virginia foothills rock-n-roll of The Nighthawks, from the Foo Fighters’ vocal exploits of Dave Grohl to the jammin’ folk streams of Dave Matthews band. The untapped musical talent of Washington DC and the outlying areas of Northern Virginia seems never-ending in its rich harmonious heritage and rocked out roots… it’s what Jamie (and Steve) Winkler are excited to promote on their show. Jamie is also an actor and has starred in several large and small screen productions.
Steve Winkler (Jamie’s cousin) plays multiple instruments and has an AA in music. He plays guitar in the band Cry Ice, and has played with such notable Messianic Jewish artists as Joel Chernoff (Lamb), Marc Chopinsky, and Rene Bloch (Israel’s Hope). Currently finishing his Bachelor’s degree in Jewish studies, Steve is involved in a startup Messianic ministry called “Moked” which is Hebrew for epicenter.
