Radio Thrift Shop is DJ Frederick's decade long (and counting) experiment, having evolved from Seldom Heard Radio in 2011. Radio Thrift Shop has a flexible format & an homage to the "underground" era of broadcasts of the 1960's and 1970's that DJ Frederick grew up listening to & features a homegrown mix of vinyl records, 78s, 45's, LPs, private press releases, and a variety of cassette tapes and homemade / self released cassettes & cds. Each broadcast of Radio Thrift Shop features an improvised or thematic playlist from DJ Frederick's music library. It's never the same program twice. Or even once.
Did the pandemic lockdowns & move to online life at least help us cut our climate-killing emissions? From Beijing, new science led by guest Dr. Zhu Liu provides unexpected answers. Canadian scientist Megan K. Young explains extreme rains and floods are popping up all over. But first: can climate change drive humans to extinction? The past speaks to the future with Prof. Pasquale Raia from Italy. Three international guests this week on Radio Ecoshock.
A weekly 30 minute review of international news and opinion, recorded from a shortwave radio and the internet. With times, frequencies, and websites for listening at home. 3 files- Highest quality broadcast, regular broadcast, and slow-modem streaming. NHK Japan, Sputnik Radio, Radio Havana Cuba, and Radio Deutsche-Welle.
This week’s show starts off by exposing the Devil’s bargain that everyone must strike in order to live in our society. We describe the difference between fiction and reality (i.e. fiction must be believable whilst reality does not suffer that restriction), and we then describe a CIA asset who is currently living in Pennsylvania that has Turkey’s snit it a tizzy. We describe idiot child liberals who think that James Comey is a good guy just because he stood up to the Rump. We describe the reality of Reality, and we describe the Rump’s habit of making major policy decisions with his eyes wide shut. We wax dialectical about the police — and for the feature piece this week we describe a new gene-editing technology called ‘CRISPR’ that makes genetic engineering tools available to the ‘common man’. Crazy stuff this week. Together we travel an enigmatic yet educational path.
An original radio theatre show each week, with most sounds culled from the previous week, about a fictional, theatrical presidency. Contradictions tell the story, with songs, skits, and clips from political news shows and late-night comedy routines. The definition of "radio theatre" is stretched here, with an updated Dickie Goodman and/or Richard Foreman-meets-mashup style sometimes, and a more straightforward take other weeks. Currently airing on 30 or 40 stations around the world, the network has ordered another five months of episodes. Anyone who would like to work on a production, or have their work air in this timeslot, should contact info@wgxc.org.

Sonic Café with 50 ways to leave your lover, that’s Paul Simon from 1973. So what’s up? I’m Scott Clark and this is episode 210. If love songs are the number one subject for songwriters, then break up songs must come in a very close second, at least that’s what we think. So this time the Sonic Café brings you a mix of the Internet’s favorite break up songs, along with a few of our own. Pulled from 47 years of broken romances our mix includes tunes from Big Brother & the Holding Company, Pat Benatar, Sinead O’Connor, Amy Winehouse and even the king himself… Elvis Presley. Then comedian Taylor Tomlinson stops by to share her recent break up story, along with more comedic break-up thoughts from Chris Potter and Dylan Moran, all straight ahead as the Sonic Café presents break up songs, this time in another hour of intelligent, eclectic music comedy and pop culture from our little café on the Pacific coast with the Greg Kihn Band. We’re the Sonic Café.

Sister Jane Kelly has been a nun for over 55 years and for several years has tried to have a priest in her parish taken out of the ministry for child molestation and thievery. She is also the author of a book entitled "Taught to Believe the Unbelievable: A New Vision of Hope for Church and Society," which discusses the current crisis of sexual and fiscal abuse as an incredible opportunity for the Church.
Cote D'ivoire/Ivory Coast is heading into a major crisis because President Outara has double-crossed even his allies, and decided to run again for a third term, a clear violation of his own (2016) constitution. Meanwhile Outara has, with the help of his European friends, arranged to prevent former President Gbagbo from returning to Ivory Coast where it is widely believed he and his party would win. From the interview, listeners will see that colonialism still operates in Africa.
