Everyone says you ought to fight for love but fail to admit how destructive that idea is. You should not have to fight to love and be loved. Love requires two people putting forth the desire to take on the world together, not use each other as sparring partners. Be sure you know the difference between someone who wants to love you and someone who wants you to love them. ✨
Dating is complicated when you don’t grow up with effective modeling of how to go about it. Susceptibility to games is high and healing from situationships is painful when deep feelings exist. You are worth being prioritized, pursued, protected, and provided for when they want you as the only one they want to build a future with ✨ Be patient and mindful; be purposeful and wait for that person to reveal themselves with consistency.

The only common denominator in your relationships is you. When you seem to be experiencing the same situation, it’s worth looking into what about you is allowing the same dynamics to play out. Self reflection is key to self mastery ✨ You get to decide your state of happiness
Rain Drop- I Write

Rain Drop- I Write

Writing is cathartic for me. It is both a release and the way I connect with the world around me. Even though I don’t know you, I love you unconditionally, no matter your location, your status, your color, or your creed. You are worthy and I see you. I’m praying for you always✨
It is the emotional self that is so very delicate. The work that is required to self regulate and make space for others is important. Many have lost loved ones to suicide, a byproduct of emotions being devalued and overburdened…let’s do better as a society to offer grace and genuine compassion. ✨
An inside look at healing from depression caused by abandonment and rejection wounds-hyper independence to avoid the disappointment of being let down by others. You are more than enough and worthy of love- give to yourself love the way you’ve always wanted to experience it, share yourself with others again when you’re ready ✨ Made its debut 7.7.2021 on Poets of the Round Table! Rain Drop- To Love Me

Rain Drop- To Love Me

2021-07-0603:05

When you’ve gone through a slew of lesson learned relations, it can cause one to be weary of attempting again. Being the common denominator, I began to look at where I was failing myself. Not a pretty journey but necessary. I found myself as the biblical maiden in the Songs of Solomon; learned what loving me ought to look like by deciding how I wanted to be loved. I now know deep within, when time aligns, he’ll be there…ready and willing to join me✨
Love shouldn’t be complicated but when you seek to only do to get your needs met, it creates a slew of problems. Love flows as a choice to tend to each other and self for self and each other. Self love is the standard, unconditional love the measure. To love requires work but it’s rewarding when done for the right reasons ✨
There’s nothing like having real love, someone who pours into you and builds you up without a sense of manipulative control seething beneath the surface; someone who really sees, hears, understands, and affirms you through the highs and lows of life. I pray that kind of love for everyone ✨
Most individuals want to feel seen, heard, and understood. For people that have been through a lot in life, it can often feel like others are patronizing them with their “compliments”. Overcoming is complicated. Check on your strong ones ✨

Everyone needs someone they can lean on when times are hard. What happens when chronic becomes too much for other? Do you keep searching for support? Do you shutdown? It can be difficult knowing how to get through but it always starts with you. Sometimes you just have to sit with yourself. If you struggling to find support, seek professional care ✨
My favorite quote from the poem, As I Am by Asia Samson says, “This ain’t about God finding you amongst a sea of faces, this is about you finding God in the most chaotic of places.” It reminds me that life will be difficult but that difficult doesn’t negate our worth. Each of our hearts are valuable. Religion, in my opinion, is extremely divisive; yet as a woman of faith, my relationship with God plays an enormous role in my life and will be found in my poetry. I hope this poem reaches you with love ✨
Ever wake up at 3am? I was told there was a spiritual meaning behind it. This poem was born from my wonderings on such a morning I decided to embrace the call. What about you, what has a 3am wake up call brought to your mind? ✨
The societal shift of Covid-19 highlighted the state of many of our internal woes. The mandatory isolation brought forth fears and wounds that have been ignored for years- injustices, abandonment, rejection, anxiety, depression, toxic thinking and behaviors, and codependency. May each of us take off the mask and live with the trust and integrity that cherishes vulnerability, respect for life, and allows us to really connect as a global society ✨
Imposter syndrome is a real problem for those who’ve grown up unable to trust in themselves and their abilities. When you’re constantly compared to others in a negative way, you begin to feel inferior and it impacts the way you see yourself and interact with others. If you were ever made to feel worthless because you weren’t at the levels someone else told you that you ought to be at, understand, you are valuable as you are. You are enough and worthy of being present in your own way in your own time ✨
Individuals struggling through their mental health often struggle with healthy relationships as managing friendships and relationships aren’t easy for them. It isn’t easy on loved ones either. I have deep compassion for all involved. Be kind to others and yourself whenever you can ✨
Individuals with anxiety and depression live in a cycle of chaos. It impacts every aspect of their lives and the burnout is a real beast to come back from. This poem is a snapshot of my experience as I pursue my academic goals. ✨
Life is beautiful when you look for the beauty in it. For individuals who suffer chronic physical ailments, it can be a struggle to stay high spirited. This poem is for all who need the reminder to revel in the small moments of the day. ✨

Rain Drop- June 19th

In honor of Juneteenth, I share the significance of this day to me. And in case you’re wondering- I only found out the historical importance years later, how’s that for serendipity ✨

As an artist, I write not only for myself but from my heart to express sadness for the circumstances impacting our world. This is how I stand to be counted. ✨
