Description
Joe will sing a different song each week, but using the same seven chords he knows, in the same order. Regardless of the actual tune, all songs will sound roughly the same and nothing like the original. There may be some general monologue and there's a very high chance of poetry.Check out Joe on his other podcast: Ishikawa: Summit to Sea

For 40 days only (like all of these), you can hear three drunk men, well, two drunk men, and one very drunk man discuss art, literature, cuisine, retail, and politics while inebriated. It is at times very boring, at other times quite embarrassing, and at other times, hilarious. Listen to me absolutely dominate and slurringly speak over my friends as I am joined by Sakamichi Night's Matthew Boynton and The Beanpod and Ishikawa: Summit to Sea's Casey Bean following a Zoomikai and an actual nomihodai. It's messy brilliance.Features cameos from Casey's kids and Gorgonella. The Summer of Ubume: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Summer_of_the_Ubume
It's a re:re:rechord! I waffle on about my musical exploits and sing a bad song. Begins with whistling.
Episode 16.I know what sycophantic means (I just can't spell it). I wanted to get that off my chest first. This episode was recorded on a whim. There was literally no preparation, and that is my excuse. That said, there is still a poem to music, some waffle, and a couple of songs, kind of. This week the Rolling Stones are featured, again, kind of. There's even a bit of trombone...If you are interested in improvised comedy, I hear it's really good, if you are interested in improvised podcasting, this is it, have at it.Love you, Joe x
Episode 15.I met with a friend this week, quite a famous saxophonist, and he said to me, when I expressed doubt about playing my horn 'nothing can embarrass you', and, having decided to put this podcast out, I fear he might be right. My conversation with him is not in this episode, but I do interview another jazz great, and there's all the other crap you've become accustomed to. Thanks for listening!
Episode 13? This week is white Day here in Japan. To celebrate I have recorded a badly timed version of a song you should be able to recognise (but probably can't). I reveal my old man's former profession, tell you about my ailments, and interview a beloved celebrity. Beware of the lengthy and self-indulgent guitar solo. Of course there's a poem to music too! Here's the Nostalgia 77 version of the song I butchered: https://youtu.be/iQ4D273C7Ac
FriendshipRight now, friends are what we need. We’ve needed them for a while, maybe even forever. Some friends come and go, while others stick around. This episode is dedicated to my best friend, who had a birthday the other day, so Sam, this is for you. Everyone else can listen too though, because you are all my friends. This is episode 12 by the way, in case you are counting. Episode 1 will disappear soon, which some of you might consider a good thing. I’ll try to find a way to share them with you though, so don’t worry.
Episode 11: This week's episode starts a bit more seriously than most. The events in The Ukraine, coupled with everything else that's messing the planet up have rattled me a little, and I didn't feel knocking out another fully daft episode was entirely appropriate. So I knocked out a 50% daft, and 50% heartfelt episode. It was bloody ages ago that John Lennon sang about giving peace a chance, and after you hear this episode you might wish I'd given peace a chance too, but alas, it is noise that prevails. The point is, despite all the time that's passed, we haven't learnt our lesson. Wars have raged non-stop since then, and even the threat of sinking underwater or being wiped out by the plague doesn't seem to have made much difference to those hell bent of destroying everything good. So we need stupid podcasts like this one to really bring everyone in line with wanting the world to end...Give peace a chance.P.S. There's quite a bit of swearing in this one, so if you are of a sensitive disposition or have young ears listening, continue listening because they have to learn.
EPISODE 10! Really?!This week Joe contacts somebody using unusual methods, sings a golf poem about a dog, and sings another song about a dog by a thickie. Confused? Tune in to worsen that feeling!
Episode 9.There are only two songs in this episode, and one of them is a poem. A combination of time, and cold made it shorter. 33% of the podcast is Valentine/Love related, and there's an interview with a special guest at the end (don't get your hopes up).
EPISODE 8!In this episode I put an olympic-themed poem to music (a song), play some Queen with mixed results, and butcher a The Doors song, all for your audio pleasure! I also offer some advice to a caller, and receive advice from a co-host. Tune in and find out what I'm on about!
EPISODE 7 of Re:chord.Okay, let's try again. 7th time lucky. Thank you for listening, and if you fancy leaving a complain, the Twitter handle to send abuse to is @rechordedsongsThis week I'll sing a poem about a poem, a Mancunian staple, and I'll butcher a much-loved soul artist. Expect some waffle, it's all I've got.Lawyers for Mr Partridge, JUST LEAVE IT OKAY?
Episode 6! Right, well, you didn't ask for it, so here it is. This episode features Nine Inch Nails and Shawaddywaddy, how many podcasts can say that?!Here's a shawaddywaddy track, in fact, some might say it's the one I re:chorded...https://youtu.be/f7b1Rv0CIfA
EPISODE 5 - This week I discuss an upcoming gig, a trip up a mountain with green men, and I respond to listener's comments. I sing a famous military-based song, and a song made famous by one of the greatest vocalists of all time, so no pressure there. Of course, you'll also hear my poem to music (made up song). I promise this week will be better than last week.Follow me! @rechordedsongsAlso follow me! @kumayama100Also also follow me! @ISummittosea
EPISODE4:In this episode I yet again tried something new in a desperate attempt to claw back the 50% of listeners who gave up after one episode (a-booooo!). What did I do differently? I put in a little thing called effort. I searched my soul and decided to record an episode dedicated to one of the best and most brilliant performers of the 21st Century, and I don't say that lightly, Mr Gregory Porter. Part of this episode features an interview I recorded with Gregory for a radio show I used to have with my good friend Les. I was very drunk, very high on excitement, and completely unprepared (nothing new there), the questions were what came to my inedbriated mind in the moment. There is also a recording of a rehearsal for a band I used to play in, in which I sing a Gregory Porter song (https://youtu.be/ZWUAKq-reLQ). I then play another song recorded by Gregory using the only 7 chords I know on the guitar. It's not a funny episode this week, but it might be a good one.Oh yeah, and there's an ill-advised recording of my absent minded sing-songing while searching for a file...I added some keyboard to attempt to polish the obvious turd. Here's the original Les and Joe Jazz Funk & Soul show, it's definitely worth a listen: https://www.mixcloud.com/Hive_Radio/hive-radio-les-and-joe-jazz-funk-and-soul-show-gregory-porter-special-16-march-2014/
Episode 3! I decided to release this a bit early because nobody has anything better to do on New Year's Eve/Day... In this, the fourth episode, I adopt a Geordie accent and balls up a Scottish one. No prizes for guessing the song. Happy New Year to those of you still tuning in!
Due to scheduling errors (not looking at the calendar properly) I recorded a New Year episode early, or late...either way, this is an episode I recorded AFTER the NEXT episode. It includes some radical new ideas that are not in the next episode but might return in the episode after that. If you are one of the 50% of people who listened to the first episode and thought it was bad enough to not listen to episode 2, let me reassure you that episode 2.5 is an improvement on episode 2, but probably about on-par with episode 1. If you were kind enough to stick around for both, thank you, and I hope you enjoy this episode more than the previous one AND the next one, which was recorded before this one.Merry Christmas.I's Boxing Day, as I write this, but I'm sad to say I haven't been on the piss, maybe soon I'll get my way,but for now it's saved for another day.Listen now and listen wise, place your hands upon your thighs,I'd like to thank you for downloading, and bearing the sound of my awful singing,There may be only a select few,but I'm grateful to each of you.You make me happy with each download,I just wanted you to knowed.
Episode 2. Let me reiterate, episode 2. Not polished. Not good. Listen at your peril. There's a poem, an attempted song (of course, that's the whole point of the podcast) and an apology, actually several apologies. The Twitter account is now open! You can find me here: @RechordedsongsFind the original and better version of today's song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5K3UgrPdbQ
Welcome! This new podcast is going to blow your tiny minds! That is, if you have never heard recorded speech before, and have no idea what a guitar is. If you are more wordly-wise than that, it might be a little more drab. Either way, my aim is to bring wonderment and delight to your world, and provide something you can laugh AT and not WITH, because the content within is not funny, but might succeed in making you feel better about yourself. Listen to me butcher not only a popular song, but also a very simple chord structure on the guitar. Yes, I only know 7 chords, and you are going to hear all of them, several times, every week. So strap in and dive into the exciting world of Re:chord....Follow me on Twitter here: @RechordedsongsHear a proper version of today's song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPudE8nDog0
