An in-depth look at a truly historic comic. The first black-owned and created comic book, created by the first general assignment journalist, and... something that is still very much of the 1940s. Yes, that means there's going to be a discussion on perspective, African stereotyping and minstrel shows. Someone's going to get mad, I know it. Hosted on Acast. The YouTube video is still available for those that need visuals but this came out around the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 in theaters and has nothing to do with the team that just released their finale movie before Gunn jumped to WBD. Either way, this is the start of the audio-only versio of the Reader's History of the Original Guardians of the Galaxy: Their creation and the title hopping! Hosted on Acast. I'll be honest, doing a retrospective on a Golden Age comic company is a bit tricky but here's the look at Quality Comics, a name you should know with how much it did in the years it was active! #comicbooks #GoldenAgeComics #TheComicArchivist ----------------------------------- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thecomicarchivist Twitter: https://twitter.com/AJC_DoesItAll Hosted on Acast. October is here! That means, by law, I have to talk about a horror comic. And why not the easiest one of them all: HALLOWEEN from a now-defunct studio that no one has heard of. These are always a treat. Yes, we have to get through reuploads of the first two parts to get to the finale. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Next, we enter the Devil's Due era and boy howdy does Stefan Hutchinson have a damn good run with the franchise. It's top notch. And hey, there's actually a current fairly famous artist for one of these (seriously everyone needs to buy the Nightdance trade!) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Naturally, since it's the 5th of November, no one cares about Guy Fawkes Day but boy howdy did the Internet eat up the Wachowskis adaptation of V For Vendetta. The original though... is very different. Yes, I may finalize the full deepest of dives into this (A Comic A Day versions are available) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
X-Men is back in a big way thanks to corporate buyouts, but in the '00s, things were weird for the franchise. This storyline in particular is most famous for the scene with Angel and Husk... umm.. well, when a man loves a barely legal girl, he takes her up and [redacted for sensitive minds]. What's even more important is that that whole relationship introduces that them Guthrie household had to be built on toxic waste and it's a Romeo and Juliet story! YEAH!This is a test episode for a new channel specifically focused on reading the entirety of X-MEN! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
