Description

A podcast for real parents of real kids. Psychologist, mom and wife, Dr. Mel, PhD shares experiences, tips, common pitfalls and a dose of humor. This podcast is not full of sunshine and lollipops, rather it is raw, informative, approachable and contains tangible approaches, philosophies, and behaviors you may want to incorporate in your own parenting. These intentionally short podcasts take on real world topics like managing tantrums, building self-esteem, navigating the sex-talk, supporting healthy relationships, coaching your child through their pressures, and learning that your child has shoplifted or skipped school.Parenting is not a smooth journey, it is full of learning, mistakes, and bountiful opportunities to be humbled. Feel free to join Dr. Mel and learn, laugh, and commiserate in the journey. If you have a topic you'd like for me to cover, feel free to send it my way! Info@RDUTherapy.com

Hi! And welcome! I am a real human being, a parent, and I know a few things. One of the things I get asked about a lot is "why won't my child listen?" And the answer to that is not a one liner. There are a few tweaks you can make to get your kids to listen more if you are motivated to do so. Also, don't forget kids have free will. So there is that. Feel free to listen and learn a few things that might be getting in the way of your kids listening to what you have to say, and learn about a time I totally tuned out during an important meeting. Odds are you tune others out too if they aren't remembering a few key points. Feel free to let me know what you think!Info@RDUTherapy.comRDUTherapy.com
