You commonly hear – don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t make mountains out of molehills, or possibly my personal favorite - Tempest in a teapot. All of these are expressions that work towards bringing our perspective “out of the weeds” so to speak and into the big picture. They are idioms used to help us not get bogged down in the little or petty events of the day and to drive on towards the big picture. But my purpose here today is to ask you what is a big picture without the fine details? I am going to make the argument – Why You SHOULD sweat the small stuff.
Trying something new - Movie Review! I like to continue to try and push myself into areas I may not be wholly comfortable in because that is the only way to expand that circle of comfort that we like to stay within. If I want to be comfortable in more places more of the time it means I need to be uncomfortable in more places right now! So here it goes! I believe the first and most appropriate thing to do here is to give a spoiler alert! Althought I don't think I give too much away - and steer clear of the ending, I am sure to give away some scenes and plots that one may not know if they had just seen the previews. This is not a typical movie review. I chose this one really because it spoke to me in terms of resilience. You get to watch two people handle a toxic and tyrannical presence in entirely different methods. I will explain what those methods were and why the obviously better method was able to manifest.
The pursuit of happiness is one of the base principles that the United States was founded upon. This is fundamental not just to being American, but to being human. But is it enough? Can we survive on pursuing happiness alone? Diving in deeper, we also discuss what happiness is and how elusive it is by nature. Understanding these ideas and how we can not just build on them but to make them repeatable and sustainable for your entire life.
As a rule of thumb we all tend to look to avoid stress. Stress, well stresses us out! It drains us both physically and emotionally. It also is the prerequisite for growth, for meaningful accomplishment, and for a sense of fulfillment.
The Holidays are here! What an opportunity to catch up with family, embrace gratitude for those we love and that which we have and the world we live in built upon the backs of giants over thousands of years! Also, as is our nature, it is a great time to see what others have that you don't. To become a little...over zealous...in the dining room. To relax off of your goals and to push aside priorities until the start of the new year. How do we avoid this?
We often hear about "the ripple effect" but looking at what happens with ripples, and the different catalysts creating all those beautiful ripples! Let us look at the different ways we can make a ripple in our life and what happens when other people are trying to make in impact right next to you.

What do broken pencils, the Olympics, and Emotional Resilience have in common? Today I pulled out the needle and thread to tie them all together. The world has been on fire with talk of Simone Biles' either "Acts of Courage" or "Choke Artist Routine". Let's dig in a bit further than the cursory stupidity that so many people are trying to prepare and serve up to their audiences thirsty to have their own opinions delivered back to them in our continuing journey of self-perpetuated echo chambers. Resilience, nuance, and candor - These are core tenants that bind us together in this community, so let us indulge ourselves with these principles in mind.
What do Vegans, Smokers, and Thomas Jefferson have in common? There's only one way to find out - join us this week where we discuss Duality and the Human condition.
A little catch up from a 2 week break in the show but ultimately leading into a conversation about the four principles I know to be the framework to living a fulfilling life!
Between smoking myself doing the Murph on Memorial Day and then having a back procedure on Thursday tied along with the stresses both physically and mentally of preparing to move...let's just say, I AM SMOKED! With my energy getting rapidly depleted each day it has been a blessing to see humanity pop up in unique and interesting ways, so I figured I would talk a bit about that today, and how we can use external inspiration such as this to re-gear the inner workings of our own minds! Come Join the Conversation!
This week I go over the difference between taking massive action and restructuring small but fundamental parts of your daily life. (Note: I give positives on both of these!) This leads into a thought experiment I stumbled into during a daily walk. I found myself steeped into a negative whirlwind affecting all of those physically close to me, strangers and friends alike! Come join the conversation to learn how I not only overcame this event but also how we can actually use negative emotions and interactions to develop and foster new relationships!
Are you being pulled in 50 directions by 50 different begging needs or are you being pulled heavily by one large anchor? We all have commitments, and promises that would are living with, the question is how are you valuing yourself and others in these relationships? Are you over extended? Spread too thin? Come join the conversation to learn about untangling these webs and choosing action versus waiting for the universe to acknowledge your hard work.
Hey what’s up y’all, I have a powerful lesson that I have been sitting on for you guys. I have beat around the bush in previous episodes about this story and I have kind of told it from different perspectives but this is the most demonstrative case of real-resilience that you will have seen outside of those people that have worked with me directly in the past with official training programs I have created. This is how I turned being overweight, divorced, ½ broke and alone, into the most powerful and life transforming time of my life. I am going to get really personal, you ready?
