This week Levi and Los are joined by AD (@everythingdizzle), a fast-rising voice in the House of the Dragon reaction space, to break down Season 3 Episode 7, "The Dragon in Winter." We debate whether this counts as a true "penultimate" episode, dig into the four-dragon showdown between Daemon, Rhaena, Rhaenyra, and Addam, and react to Aegon's stunning return to the fight on a very-alive Sunfyre. Plus: Alicent and Aemond's unsettling Harrenhal storyline, Rhaenyra's crumbling small council, Ormund's scheme to flip Ulf the White, Larys abandoning Aegon, and our predictions for who doesn't make it to the end of the finale.AD brought the energy this week and we genuinely could not stop laughing.Subscribe for weekly House of the Dragon breakdowns, and drop your predictions for the finale in the comments. This episode had us hooked right from the start. The Butcher's Ball is one of the best battle sequences the show has done, and watching Criston Cole finally meet his end after three seasons was something Los and I had a lot to say about. In this recap, we walk through the fallout between Rhaenyra and Alicent once Helaena's pregnancy comes out, and honestly, we think Rhaenyra's got some nerve acting betrayed given what she asks Alicent to do by the end of the hour. We also get into how rough things are for every dragonrider right now, Baela running herself into the ground, Rhaena unraveling in the Vale, and Aemond making a very questionable call with Alys Rivers in Harrenhal. Then Los and I dig into Ormund Hightower's slow-burn campaign of chaos, the disguised assassins sent after Gwayne, and the gut-punch capture of Corlys Velaryon, a moment that goes completely off-book. We close out talking through where we think the Greens vs. Blacks war stands heading into the final stretch, and what Rhaenyra actually needs to do to turn things around before it's too late.00:00 – Intro & Season 3 Check-In02:58 – The Butcher's Ball: Criston Cole's Death08:37 – Daemon, the Gold Cloaks & Court Chaos13:52 – Rhaenyra's Gambit: Alicent's Plan for Aemond & Helaena22:34 – Alyn, Corlys & the Baela Romance30:03 – Rhaena's Exile in the Vale33:16 – Aemond, Alys Rivers & the Dragon Eggs36:42 – Dragon Seeds: Hugh's Homecoming Goes Wrong40:41 – Aegon Buries the Evidence42:14 – Ormond, Gwayne, Daeron & the Assassination Attempt52:28 – Corlys Captured: The Episode's Final Twist54:18 – Predictions for the Battle of Tumbleton57:40 – OutroFollow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/recapnrecord/https://www.instagram.com/280plus_pod/https://www.instagram.com/whatarewedoing_pod/Follow us on X: https://x.com/levi_mccurdyhttps://x.com/280plus_Pod
