Sometimes recording is fun and sometimes it’s…well, a challenge.  The guys from Sons of Sevilla recorded this with us while on the road in their RV and halfway through the recording, their wifi connection farted out.  We finished the episode without them.  But that wasn’t before we were able to talk about chill rock, who’s the little fighter, Terry Reid, Paul McCartney, the not so famous (but you know them) bass players on this album, Skynrd, short and to the point songs, and Clapton. Check out Sons of Sevilla at:  https://sonsofsevilla.bandcamp.com/ Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com, Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, Google Podcasts and Spotify. You knew it was only a matter of time before we actually did an episode ABOUT a Matt Nathanson album, right? Repeat Revisitor Troy Millette joins us to discuss "Some Mad Hope" from Matt.Plenty of other discussion including Troy's podcast (Load-In Through the Back), does Jason Bateman really need to have a podcast, Guster, borrowing the referral questions, Steve Poltz, Speech, peak avocado season, Poison, a 4 Claw album, the song that launched Matt (and the song I don't need to hear again), songs not played in Matt's setlist (but should be included because they're killer songs), what should be the album closer, and find out which song made Wayne change his scores to get a song in the Top 5.Check out Matt at mattnathanson.com/Check out Troy Millette at: https://troymillettemusic.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. Gaps in our schedule means...we do what we want. Instead of our usual format, I just wanted to hang out with some of my besties talking about some of our recent concerts. We were joined by Michael Citro (Michael's Record Collection), Jeff Frame (Jeff Makes Jokes) and Dave Montgomery (little brother). We talk about Wayne's First Wilco, trying to sell people on seeing bands live with us (and the anxiety that follows that), Rilo Kiley (while batting a bout of Chrohn's), Iron & Wine, Metallica (and unfortunately that leads to talk about Limp Bizkit), Hozier, and more. And congrats to little brother for welcoming baby #2 the day after we recorded this.No sound clips. Zero notes. Minimal editing. Just free flow discussion. Enjoy.Check out Jeff Frame on Twitter @jeffmakesjokesCheck out Michael’s podcast at: https://michaelsrecordcollection.podbean.com/ Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. Harley Flanagan has been kicking out punk music since he was in grade school. Literally. Cro-Mags, Harley's band, has been a big part of the NYC punk scene since the 80s and Harley has been making the rounds lately promoting his documentary called "Harley Flanagan: Wired for Chaos."Probably should have known by the documentary title that this episode would be anything but our typical format. Plenty of other discussion including downtuning guitars, "Medusa" from Trapeze, Ozzy's voice being unrecognizable, NYC punk scene in the 70s and 80s, CBGB, the Beastie Boys, and more.   Check out Harley Flanagan at:   https://harleyflanagan.com/ Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. The "Wanted! The Outlaws" compilation from 1976 was a huge launching pad (or relaunching pad) for Waylon and Willie. And, it did for country what The Sex Pistols or Ramones did for punk music.Sterling Drake joins us to talk about this game changing compilation and his new album “The Shape I’m In.”  Plenty of other discussion including short sleeved pearl snaps, Bro Country vs. Real Country (and some anti Rascal Flatts sentiment), who are the modern country outlaws, women are outlaws too, and Tompall Glaser deserves more discussion.Check out Sterling Drake at:  https://sterlingdrakemusic.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. There's only one band I've seen more live in concert than Carbon Leaf. It's a FUN time (one y'all should experience). Jesse Humphrey and Jon Markel from the band join us to discuss the self-titled debut from Rage Against the Machine (and, no, Carbon Leaf does NOT sound like Rage).Plenty of other discussion including counterfeit Carbon Leaf t-shirts, Freebird, Fenway, "you have to play the new songs," Wilco opening bands, Grammys for 1993 & 1994, free jazzy, who is E Double, and is it a dying cat or a police alarm?Check out Carbon Leaf at:     https://www.carbonleaf.com/Check out After the Gig with Jesse Humphrey at:  https://jessehumphrey.com/afterthegigCheck out Rage Against the Machine at:  https://www.ratm.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. Wayne, Michael Citro and I are starting our pregaming early for a concert in May. Rick Springfield, John Waite, Wang Chung, and John Cafferty are all on one bill. Is there another album from any of those artists that we should do another pregaming episode about? We're not so sure after listening to this album again. At least Side A is awesome.Check out Rick Springfield at: https://rickspringfield.com/Check out Michael’s podcast at: https://michaelsrecordcollection.podbean.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. Plenty of other discussion including "f all y'all," Johnny's other band Public Image Ltd., the Rolling Stone "bible" issue, Taylor Swift needs to write some protest songs, caring less, and who the hell is Frank Carter? Anyone remember the Mayflies USA? I got a promo copy of "Summertown" in 1998 and I fell in love with the album. They went on a massive hiatus but got together to record their latest album "Kickless Kids" set for release in May 2025. When I got a press release about this, I immediately asked if they could come on the show to talk about their career, the new album, and albums (and some songs) important to them.We talk with Matt McMichaels and Adam Price about the new album but also talk about Bob Mould, power pop (and finally embracing that genre tag), Jackson Mississippi, trying to emulate the Replacements (the self sabotage aspect), getting produced by Mitch Easter and Chris Stamey, Keith Richard, Steely Dan, and more.If you're not a fan yet, I think you will be after this.Check out The Mayflies USA at:  https://www.facebook.com/themayfliesusaCheck out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. Man, this was fun. I've been on a Drive-By Truckers kick since the holidays since I decided to do a full discography listen as a way of pregaming for seeing the band for the first time in early February. That show was pure awesomeness. This was one of our Patreon Revisitor shows with Kevin Peters picking the album. We asked Stephen Deusner, author of Where the Devil Don't Stay: Traveling the South with the Drive-By Truckers (American Music Series): Deusner, Stephen: 9781477318041: Amazon.com: Books to join us. And, no Drive-By Truckers episode could be recorded without our buddy Jason Earle of the Marinade who is a DBT superfan.I think y'all will dig this one, even if you're not super familiar with DBT. Do you know The Weakerthans? We barely did. But we absolutely loved this record. Big kudos to our guest Caleb Caudle for picking this one. We also discuss his new record "Sweet Critters" and his collaborations with John Paul White and Alison Russell, sad people, The Opry, playing for small rooms, skipping the choruses, cats who try to motivate, the Elks Lodge, hockey pucks, The Paramount, and beep boops.Check out Caleb Caudle at:  https://www.calebcaudle.com/Check out The Weakerthans at:  https://www.theweakerthans.org/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. The guys are joined by cka FLAX (Sean Flax) to discuss Chris Whitley and his 1998 album “Dirt Floor.”  Plenty of other discussion including FLAX’s new album “the birth of fantasy,” memes, documentaries, the act of killing, ball peen hammers and a lack of a claw, loco girls, dying way young and Wayne getting called out by the guest might be my favorite moment on an episode in a while.  Check out cka FLAX at:  https://www.ckaflax.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. When you only have two to three days to prepare for an episode due to a guest reschedule, who do you turn to? Of course our Patreon Revisitors bail us out once again – this time it’s repeat revisitor Scotty Kummer from Ten Junk Miles and I’ve Got That On Vinyl to talk about “Women and Children First” from the legendary Van Halen.Plenty of other discussion on this one including the Minnesota Twins, artists and albums we've fallen in love thanks to podcasting about music, high heels, convoy and truck driver life, Zappa, why we don't discuss jazz records (and it's not because we don't like jazz), getting recognized as podcast hosts, Nicolette Larson, and deciphering between lead singers and rock stars. Enjoy.Check out Ten Junk Miles at:  https://www.tenjunkmiles.com/Check out I’ve Got That On Vinyl at: https://igtov.com/Check out Van Halen at: http://www.van-halen.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. Musician Daryl Hance joins us to discuss the fourth album from the Police “Ghost in the Machine.”  Plenty of discussion about MTV, speaking French, Sandra Bullock and “Demolition Man,” alpha males & omega males, and more.  Dissecting any Police record is a lot of fun and doing it with Daryl was a blast. Y'all go check out his last album "Devil's Milhopper." It's one part 70s rock (ala Black Sabbath or maybe Mountain) and one part Jesus and Mary Chain. Yeah, it sounds bizarre, right? It is. But, also really great at the same time.Check out Daryl at:  https://www.darylhance.com/Check out The Police at: https://thepolice.com/Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify. While Wayne is away, I get to discuss some Lucero with Patreon Revisitor Seth Gill, Repeat Revisitor Jason Earle (of the Marinade Podcast) and first timer musician Matt Woods. Man...we have a blast on this episode. Jason's theory of breaking down Ben Nichols tunes into different categories turns into a super fun exercise. I'm not gonna spoil the fun of what the categories are called.Check out Lucero at: https://luceromusic.com/Check out Matt Woods at: https://therealmattwoods.com/homeCheck out The Marinade with Jason Earle at: https://www.marinadepodcast.com/ Check out other episodes at RecordsRevisitedPodcast.com or one all your favorite podcast providers like Apple Podcasts, Castbox, iHeartMedia, and Spotify.
