I know this was years ago, but on the rant about Annihilation be whitewashed: there is no description of the characters belonging to any nationality/ethnicity in Annihilation. That bit of insight comes from Authority (the sequel). Yes Natalie Portman's character is described as having features that hint at an Asian heritage and Jennifer Jason Leigh is said to have a Native American (not Indian) mother, but that's not offered in Annihilation. I don't remember it getting more explicit then them having dark hair/eyes and strong/powerful/imposing builds. Just wanted to clarify

I get so tired of these political rants. Usually they keep them short and quick and they get back to movies but they dedicated time exclusively to rant here. They claimed to be "in the minority that think for themselves" but they rant from a leftist political perspective and openly state they have leftist political perspective. Free thinkers don't see left vs right or Dems vs Rep. Free thinkers see it's Government vs Us.

The fish scene is making fun of the differences between Irish and Italians. Italians love food and want to know everything about it whereas Irish don't care at all. It's funny how the Italian is in disbelief that someone doesn't care.
