Together, we'll work on shifting the narrative from shame to pride and embrace the beauty of living authentically. Tourette Syndrome has been widely misunderstood throughout history and even today. During the Spanish Inquisition, individuals exhibiting Tourette-like behaviors were sometimes accused of being possessed by demons and tragically burned at the stake. In modern times, people may avoid seeking appropriate treatment because of psychiatric denial, hoping that prayer, positive thoughts, diet, or simply just growing out of it will improve the condition. Join Adrienne Hill as she talks about the sounds, movements and myths surrounding Tourette Syndrome. Just as dominant societal forces enforced heteronormative, patriarchal, puritanical, and overly simplistic values on human sexuality, the sexual diversity of animals has been largely ignored or misinterpreted by biologists. But the field of biology has now begun overcoming this bias, and now it studies and describes the sexual diversity in animals – something which is normal and natural and leads to robust populations more adaptable to changes in their environment. In his presentation, Nathan H. Lents will discuss these topics, and describe the myriad ways that animal bodies are sexed, the varieties of “genders” within sexes, and other forms of sexual diversity among animals.Guest Links:www.linktr.ee/nathanlentsJoin Us Live Every Monday!https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/rfrxOur Socials:https://linktr.ee/RecoveringFromReligionhttps://www.facebook.com/RecoveringfromReligionhttps://instagram.com/rfrorghttps://www.tiktok.com/@recoveringfromreligionhttps://bsky.app/profile/recoveringfromreligion.orghttps://www.linkedin.com/company/rfrorg

When studying cultural anthropology, one is generally taught to treat every belief system with respect and to keep one's opinions to themselves. Speaking up on the ideas of skepticism is usually frowned upon. Malorie Mackey used to feel strongly that all beliefs should be respected, as she came from an anthropological background. However, after living in the world of skepticism for some time, she has concluded that some belief systems are harmful. When do they become harmful? And when do you step in once they do? Join us for this analysis of when beliefs become destructive and how this sensitive topic should be approached. And plan on staying for the post-show hangout.Join Us Live Every Monday!https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/rfrxhttps://linktr.ee/RecoveringFromReligionhttps://www.facebook.com/RecoveringfromReligionhttps://instagram.com/rfrorghttps://www.tiktok.com/@recoveringfromreligionhttps://bsky.app/profile/recoveringfromreligion.orghttps://www.linkedin.com/company/rfrorg
