Can you imagine how tough it must have been to be a sober guitarist in a rock band? And not just any rock band. We’re talking about Velvet Revolver, the supergroup that is known for its successful run in hard rock revival, as well as its iconic frontman’s infamous reputation for substance abuse. For rhythm guitarist Dave Kushner, those years have been a constant challenge against his sobriety, which he has maintained for more than a decade before joining the band. Dave stayed sober, but it doesn’t mean his life had become easy, even when the band called it quits. Dave shares the highlights of his story in this conversation with Rob Hannley, Mike Diamond, and Ricky Barnes. Listen in as he shares how he handled these challenging moments of his journey and how putting in the work has gotten him into the good place that he enjoys now.
Sobriety is important, but it’s not an end to itself. It is but a stepping stone to continuous improvement – a door that opens up to a myriad of possibilities. We have to move beyond sobriety to become that person we envision ourselves to be. This powerful message is brought to you by Robb Humphreys, a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor based in Maui, Hawaii. Robb’s claim to fame is as a director and actor, known for "Lord of Illusions," "JoJo Baby", and "A Gathering of Magic: Behind the Scenes of Lord of Illusions." A person in recovery himself, Robb stands by his conviction that recovery is a never-ending process. Indeed, he doesn’t want it to end, if that was even possible. Listen in as he shares this and other valuable lessons from the trenches with Rob Hannley, Mike Diamond, and Ricky Barnes.
A number of people fall into addiction thinking that the substance and alcohol could somehow make life more fun, craving to let loose and add that certain spike to life. However, English and American TV personality Jack Osbourne realized, after spinning out of control into drug addiction, that he could have more fun sober. In this episode, he joins Rob Hannley and Mike Diamond to share with us his journey—from being exposed to the rock 'n roll lifestyle at such a young age and falling into addiction to recovery, going to almost 18 years of being sober. He also talks about the things that have been keeping him busy and what lights the fire inside him. Now, Jack is a father, TV host, Producer, Explorer, Paranormal Investigator, Climber, Surfer, and an MS Awareness Advocate all under his belt. He takes us to his many sides while sharing some tips and insights on leading a healthy life.
