She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Www.reflectingwithrainna.com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/reflectingwithrainna/message

In this entry I wanted to talk to you about the dangers of being emotionally invested in something. I have found , especially as a Christian, that this can be even more of a NO NO because it borders on Idolatry depending on the amount of your investment. When we find ourselves putting our identity into our latest fandom and leaving God at the Door, we are indeed showing where all of our time, attention, and value is placed and it is no longer Christ we are following but something made of the world, for the world, and for the flesh...Which is all Satan can give you. This Junk of the world. Our attention is currency. What are you spending your currency on? I found a great quote about Idolatry on Bible Reasons.com. “Anything that takes the place of God in your life is idolatry. Christ reigns over all and until you realize that you will be running around searching for things that will never complete you.” There is a quote by John Calvin that covers this scenario perfectly imo, ““For what is idolatry if not this: to worship the gifts in place of the Giver himself?” John Calvin.” In Ecclesiastes 1:8 it states “Everything is wearisome beyond description. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content. This can be easily avoided. First, place no expectations. Stop expecting an outcome and you won't feel let down. Expectations are like the cousins of lies imo. Expectations are a gamble since they are based on an outcome that hasn't come to fruition. See how silly humans are? We place our own outcomes on stuff, then throw temper tantrums when it doesn't go our way. How does that even make sense? The second thing we need to do is not put all of our emotions in our expectation basket. Www.ReflectingWithRainna. Com --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/reflectingwithrainna/message

Mark Twain Helpful Definition "Confirmation bias occurs from the direct influence of desire on beliefs. When people would like a certain idea or concept to be true, they end up believing it to be true. They are motivated by wishful thinking. This error leads the individual to stop gathering information when the evidence gathered so far confirms the views or prejudices one would like to be true." https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/science-choice/201504/what-is-confirmation-bias Helpful Scripture https://biblehub.com/proverbs/16-18.htm Proverbs 16:18 New International Version Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/reflectingwithrainna/message

O Come, O Come, Emmanuel: An Advent Study Paperback https://www.amazon.com/Come-Emmanuel-Advent-Study/dp/1087715717 Scripture: Genesis 3:1-7 The Fall https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%203:1-7&version=NIV In this Emanuel Bible Study, we are asked this Question: “Have you ever paused to consider what a mercy it is that God still invites us into his presence, even though we are sinners?” God loves us unconditionally. We do not have to clean ourselves up to follow Jesus, he will get into our messy lives and work with us on his timing. He will help us clean up our mess. He is really the only one who can do it the right way imo. A change of the heart definitely outlasts a changing of the mind from my personal experience. The fact that God loves us so much that he maintains an invitation to us to be with him for eternity shows us that even in our broken state he loves us. That his love for us is forever. He wants to have a relationship with us just as he did with Adam and Eve in the Garden. He didnt have to spend time with them in the Garden, but he made time for them. Even after they went against his orders, and ate from the tree of good and evil, he could have killed them ont he spot, but he didn't. He loved them enough to show them mercy. If you every catch yourself not feeling close to God , just remember that he has an open door policy. You don't have to be dressed fancy, talk fancy, or attend a bible college to be close to God. God created humans before an of that existed. His intent is to have a genuine relationship with us. If he meant to abandon us, he would never have sent Jesus to be born and later die for all of our sins. The death of Jesus on the cross , paying our sin debt, was a huge invitation. John 3:16 New International Version 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%203%3A16&version=NIV 5 Things I am doing to fight the gloomy cold weather approaching while living in the shut down life. We have been under clouds and rain for about a week and have definitely been embracing the hermit lifestyle which is easy to do when everyone and everything is still under the Rona shutdown to various degrees. I started with sweeping off the front porch and then went to rake the leaves up from the front sidewalk. While I was making my way down the walk toward the driveway, I stepped into a hole in our yard and said to my family, “ Woah! Glad I didn't twist my ankle! Look at this hole! My husband scoffed and said, watch out for that one and like 3 more in the yard! Our son has made holes in the yard and I have stepped in at least three of them! I looked at my 7 year old son and said, well! I guess its time for you to finish your job! Time to go fill up a bucket with dirt from our woods and fill in these holes before someone gets hurt. And just as soon as that sentence left my mouth , it hit me. The bible verse Philippians 1:6 English Standard Version 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. Each of us may feel incomplete, like little empty holes from time to time, but we must not forget that we are a work in progress! God has began a great work in each of us and he will complete it! He will never leave us feeling empty. The enemy may talk smack to you making you feel incomplete but you must trust that our heavenly Father knows what's best for us and is working on us and with us according to his plan and his timing. He loves us and will never leave us. He will complete us! He will fill up our God shaped hole! God Bless you and have a great day! Date: 10 15 2020 Entry: #3 Scripture: James 1:2-5 New International Version Overview The theme of the book of James is that genuine faith works on a daily basis by depending on the power of God. James briefly greets his audience, then instructs them about trials, the nature of true faith, the untamable tongue, heavenly wisdom, pride versus humility, warnings to the rich, and persevering patience. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James%201%3A2-5&version=NIV Trials and Temptations 2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. Date: 10-11-2020 Entry: 2 Scripture: JOHN Theme The Book ofJohn presents Jesus as the Word, the Messiah and the incarnate Son of God, who has come to reveal the Father and bring eternal life to all who believe in him.https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+10&version=ESV John 10:22-30 English Standard Version When I read this Bible Verse, it reminds me of: The first time we let our chickens roam around in our Yard. We had around 25 Chickens We have 20 at the moment When we let them out for the first time they were sooooooooo excited to see a new everything. New Grass because they had eaten all of theirs in their pen. New woods to explore, new bugs to eat and they were closer to the house so they could beg me for treats a lot easier just by climbing up on our back deck or our front porch. Well one day I had asked the kids to call out to them to let them know we had some bread and veggies for them. They went out on the back porch and shouted for them saying, “Here Chicky Chicky!” but they wouldn't come. The kids got worried and came to tell me that they were calling for them but the chickens weren't coming. I went out to the back deck and started to call them and they came running out of the weeds in one mad race to see who could get to the treats first. Ya see? They know that I am the one that usually takes care of them. Talks to them, and spoils them with goodies. They knew my voice so they came out of the weeds to the sound of it. This reminds me of how we know our fathers voice. Sometimes we get a little too carried away with our life. Sometimes we get distracted by new and fun things that we get further and further away from home but when he calls to us we know his voice and we draw near. Our heavenly father will never leave us or forsake us. We must stay near him so we can hear him. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/reflectingwithrainna/message

Scripture Shared In this Episode: 1 Corinthians 12 Spiritual Gifts 1 CORINTHIANS Theme Paul addresses problems in the church and answers questions from the church. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 New International Version 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
